Paxil sleepiness

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil sleepiness

paxil

Avatar f tn The nausea and dizziness were unreal. The weird anxiety/ sleepiness combination, too. Sometimes SSRI ( like Paxil) cause these precise side effects at the beginning of treatment. When will you feel better? Check the half life of Paxil. Just for example, the half life of lexapro is 32 hours and it took me 3 days to go back to normal after a single dose. Of course, I'm not a health professional, just a fellow anxiety sufferer. By all means, call your dr and tell him how you feel.
Avatar f tn I've been on Paxil for approximately seven years, starting at 60mg and tapering down to 30mg as of two years ago. I'm still on that dose. I've experienced the withdrawal symptoms before, when I've forgotten to take my medicine, as well as when I've been in the process of decreasing my dose, but lately, I've been feeling the withdrawal symptoms when I have been taking my medicine regularly.
611559 tn?1233776445 I have taken Effexor XR for about 5 years, which followed a course of Paxil. The Paxil was preceded by a course of Zoloft. The anti-depressants were given to me because I have a physical disability with chronic pain, and anxiety that began at the same time as the pain. Anxiety was the worst, but as my life tanked from inability to do many things, the depression grew. Zoloft did not help much; I gained 60 lbs. on Paxil. When switching from Paxil to Effexor, I lost about 20 of the 60lbs.
Avatar f tn I am very sensitive to anxiety meds and have previously had a bad reaction to 10 mg of Buspar per day and also to 20 mg of Paxil. I wound up in the ER after taking Paxil only once. My doc just prescribed 5mg of Celexa to start and willl titrate upward as indicated and as tolerated. I took my first dose today and the only issue that I have had is a little sleepiness. I think at 2.5 mg of Celexa, it would be quite unlikely (though not impossible) to have a bad reaction (on such a low dose).
Avatar f tn You may want to discuss with your prescriber weaning yourself off of one of the medications to see if that helps reduce your sleepiness. Keep in mind that your body is also detoxing from nicotine. In very low concentrations, nicotine acts as a stimulant, and it is one of the main factors responsible for the dependence-forming properties of tobacco smoking. Do not stop taking any of the medications you have been prescribed until you have spoken to your prescriber. Best of luck to you!
Avatar f tn Some days, he will feel so sleepy whatever he does, other days he will be fine. Can this random sleepiness be attributed to abilify? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I believe I have this and 2 times in a row. I trusted my doctor and have been talking with him since this happened over a month ago. I was on paxil 12.5 mg and had stressful events occur and had break through non stop severe anxiety/panick disorder. He then tried to switch me over to lexapro which I was on paxil for 17 yrs and started having withdrawls I though and asked him to put me back on paxil. So he was not happy about it but he did. I seem to get a liottle better the first day I took 12.
Avatar m tn I've just started going to a doctor mainly to help with excessive daytime sleepiness that sometimes comes on very strong, as I'm a teacher and can't perform feeling like this. No amount of sleep or napping will remove the sleepiness. We have done bloodwork and everything has come back normal (we did not check t3 though), pulse ox was fine according to them, but here is my question- My O2 levels are always around 92, my pulse averages 35-40, and blood pressure generally ~105/70.
Avatar f tn For the past three months, I have been falling asleep in the car (as a passenger) or while reading the morning paper(basically any time I sit down). If I drive, I have to stop after 20 minutes and take a nap. I'm wondering if it is connected with any medication I am taking. It seems as if "sleepiness" is mentioned in the literature of any prescribed medication. I am on L-thyroxine (should I return to Synthroid?) The medication has been decreased after my last blood test.
648439 tn?1225058862 I have been dizzy for about 6 days - week 5 of treatment. I started taking AD's on Sat and now feel really sleepy and cannot go to work. I only took two half tablets of the AD - took half Sat am and half Sun pm. Is this (sleepiness) likely to be an effect of the AD's or the tx. Should I stop taking the AD's to see how I go without the?
1439353 tn?1309288364 has anyone had experience with feeling extreme tiredness/sleepiness where you fight to keep your eyes open? I am just so tired. Tonight is my last pill but I know it stays in your system for a while. Sigh. Any advice would be MOST appreciated! Thanks!
Avatar n tn What do I do about having sleepiness while I am in my 12th week of pregnancy first trimester?
Avatar f tn I just joined the site but wish I had back when menopause first came into my life (September 2009). I used to be a very cold natured woman who would sometimes listen to my older friends talk about hot flashes and wished I had them so I wouldn't be cold all the time. As the saying goes, "be careful what you ask for"! I endured the flashes as long as I could then decided I would talk to my doctor to see what she would prescribe.
Avatar m tn This was to counteract the fatigue and sleepiness that I had been getting from taking Paxil for depression. Though Concertat was initially effective, it gradually became more of a detriment than help. It made me very irritable, unfocused, and moody. I have worked with my doctor to gradually phase concerta out from the 72m I was taking daily. It has been now one month and a half that I began reducing the dose and I am into my second week of not taking the drug at all.
Avatar n tn This is just personal experience - but I have found out a lot of endo's have started the practice of prescribing Lexapro to help with the psychological trauma of being newly diagnosed with Diabetes. A lot of times, the endo's do not know (or have not researched into) that Lexapro in fact has some serious nasty side effects - although the maker (Forest Pharmaceutical) says there is no risk of addition or side effects. If you can avoid it - do so.
Avatar f tn put me on them because i cant function. my paxil ive been on for 10yrs seems to no longer work. ive tried xanax and ativan they worked for a few hrs then the panic would kick back in.
Avatar n tn The first week of Paxil (Paroxetine) was tough, dizzy and a bit of nausea, as well as daytime sleepiness, which felt great.....I went from insomnia (which has come back ugh) to napping every day. Slowly, the paxil was THE ONE, along with xanax at night and I was finally feeling the anxiety go away. THAT WAS 25 YEARS AGO......STILL ON PAXIL (30mgs now) and half mg of klonopin which isn't doing much anymore, but i've been on it sooooooooo long.......
Avatar m tn t been able to get out of bed lately and has missed a lot of work. Could this excessive sleepiness be due to the combination of these drugs? It is not that he doesn't want to get out of bed, it's almost as if he is drugged, which led to my question. This is not normal.
Avatar n tn As you have been investigated extensively, your symptoms of excessive sleepiness could be due to either narcolepsy or idiopathic hypersomnia. Narcolepsy is diagnosed by the sleep onset REM episodes (SOREMs), wherein the person goes into the dream phase or REM cycle soon after sleep onset. This is evident in the Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT). And idiopathic hypersomnia is diagnosed by exclusion. Treatment is based on the cause. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn The bupropion could be increased to 300mg to help with daytime sleepiness. I don't think the sleepiness is caused by being on fluoxetine rather than Lamictal but it's more likely that you developed a tolerance to bupropion. Any change in your medications and/or dosage must be addressed with a qualified physician.
Avatar m tn Did you ever find out what was causing your drowsiness?
