Avatar f tn past few months depression has been really bad and i have a bottle of paxil that my doctor prescribed for me. i have been reading on line some reviews about paxil and not many of them were good. has anyone here taken it and had good experience with it.
Avatar n tn I have been on Paxil for 20years I was just prescribed. Remron do I need to wean off paxil.
Avatar n tn I believe any doctor will tell you if you have depression, OTC uppers are not the solution. I used to take ephedrine and got addicted, also to caffeine at a different point in my life. These are addictive substances (besides the aspirin) and you can build a tolerance for ephedrine. Paxil didn't work for me either, but there are hundreds of other antidepressants out there to try, in different families of drugs than Paxil.
445725 tn?1206388767 You may need to slightly increase your dose Paxil does not make everything better, It did for me for a while then I had to deal with little bits of stress that came back, it's normal it means your body has adjusted to the medication. It's only meant to give you support on your way to recovery, have you trried cbt or councelling.
Avatar f tn What medication can I speak to my Dr. about to help me with chronic fatigue? I was prescribed a "starting dose" of Paxil 10 mgs 7 days ago for severe depression, and .5mg Xanax 3x a day for anxiety as needed. Pretty much only using the Xanax at night if i have trouble sleeping because during the day it makes me too sleepy.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have been taking Paxil for 10 years. At first I started taking it because I had anxiety problems while eating. As soon as I started paxil these problems went away for the most part in a few weeks. A couple years later I started having panic attacks. I recently began seeing a psychiatrist who increased my dosage gradually from 20mg to 60mg. I really haven't noticed any difference though at all when going from 20mg to 60mg of paxil.
Avatar f tn I have been on Paxil for over 6 years. Almost off of it and then went back up in dose only to have it not work for me. Started having weird side effects at 40mgs and started tapering down to get off it. Down to 7.5mgs after many months of hell! I have one Dr who wants me to take Klonopin and add lexapro to my paxil, titrating one up and one down till I am off Paxil.
Avatar m tn Hi! I have been taking Paxil for 20 years. I have recently been struggling w/ more intense anxiety and depression and irritability. I am switching from Paxil to Cymbalta, and am down from 30 mg of Paxil to 5 mg, and then up to 60 mg of Cymbalta. I feel like I am having a racing heart/palpitations. I am not sure if it's anxiety, Paxil withdrawal, side effects from Cymbalta, or there is something wrong with my heart.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking 40 mg of Paxil for anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. My doctor has suggested we try to add a low dose of Wellbutrin to this. What can I expect from this combo? I have never taken wellbutrin before.
Avatar f tn Hi thank you for the response. I've been on Paxil for one month so I guess I need some more time for it work. Your words are so kind and I hope you also fully recover. Sending hugs back to you!!!!
Avatar n tn Depression is very normal. However, I have heard and gone through Paxil and that it can cause the opposite affect. It can make depression worse, and if you miss a dose you can see the difference right away. I did alot of research on paxil and worked in Doctors offices and have seen several cases of Paxil causes more harm than good. Don't get me wrong for some people Paxil is great and for others it is bad. The Dr.
Avatar n tn i have an aunt that was suffering from anxiety an depression for a hole year with out any meds. she start using paxil for six months, now she is off of it now for seven months without any anxiety or depression symptoms. i was thinking of switching from xanax to paxil but my dr said the xanax is working so for so dont change as yet. but everything dosent work the same for everybody but you can try it knowing it works for depression.
Avatar m tn My husband is taking Paxil (40 mg) per day for his depression which exhibits itself by him being angry and irritated by the least little thing. He over-reacts on small situations and immediately gets angry and yells. This, of course, causes a severe strain on our marriage, since I am usually the object of his anger. Is Paxil the best depression medication for this condition? He has tried just about everything else and only Paxil seems to work (somewhat) for him.
Avatar f tn So this is day 4 for me without any painkillers. Just wanted to know if depression is a major withdraw effect. I like keep crying for no reason. I'm a wreck. I'm on paxil but I don't think enough. When I called for a higher dose I almost started crying again!! Anyone have this? How long will it last?
697970 tn?1228074272 t no and go to askapatient.com and search for reviews there , I have seen 13 emsam reviews so far on that site . Dr Burns book "THE FEELING GOOD HANDBOOK" has also helped me . Remember always combine drug therapy with cbt and talk therapy . Don't worry you will feel better soon I can see that .
Avatar f tn I've been on Paxil for 2 years, diagnosed with hypothyroidism 1 yr ago... Long story short, I'm trying to get off Paxil now, hoping that my depression was caused by thyroid. I weaned myself (doctor approved) down to 10 mg, doc said I should be fine to stop taking it... Now I am having SEVERE headaches and nausea. I don't want to get back on this med, and would prefer to suffer through withdrawals, however it's very difficult to function when I'm feeling this way.
Avatar f tn Hi Pat! I know how you're feeling! I've dealt with depression for 20 some years. Don't suddenly stop the Paxil (I'm sure you know that) I finally found a new drug called Fetzima and its for depression and anxiety! You have lots of energy too! I took prozac for many years and then it just didn't work, so I'm very excited about Fetzima!! It's for major depression! Hope to hear back from you, and don't give up!
Avatar f tn Please if you have taken it give me your experience. I have had bad anxiety and panic attacks for about 2 months now. I have had a rx for paxil that I have not taken. I'm really debating whether to take it or not. I have read online bad and good reviews. The doc told me it would take a week or two to work and that I might feel more anxious at first. He told me that can start with half a pill a day and see how I feel.
Avatar f tn I've been on Paxil for approximately seven years, starting at 60mg and tapering down to 30mg as of two years ago. I'm still on that dose. I've experienced the withdrawal symptoms before, when I've forgotten to take my medicine, as well as when I've been in the process of decreasing my dose, but lately, I've been feeling the withdrawal symptoms when I have been taking my medicine regularly.
Avatar f tn Well, so much for my little plan of using only Clonazepam to get off Paxil. I did well with it for about 3 weeks, while tapering off Paxil. My anxiety was much better, but then I started to feel depressed....deeply. So I have started on the Lexapro (2.5) and will go up on that while coming down off Paxil. I will still take the .25 Clonazepam until I am done with my transition and hopefully get off Clonaz. when I am all settled. Anyone else have this side effect with clonazepam / klonopin?
1422233 tn?1282701102 Prozac is probably better for depression generally than it is for anxiety, and Paxil for whatever reason is very strong, probably because it also has a strong effect on choline receptors.
Avatar f tn I have been on paxil for over 2 months now and I maybe can tell its helped a little bit with my anxiety but now I feel so depressed and just want to cry....I have no energy course I didnt have any before starting the paxil but I just feel so sad and down....I havent felt happiness in so long but I have tried so many medications that I dont want to keep trying them over and over again...this is even my 3rd time on paxil....
Avatar n tn I took Paxil for 4 years and expreienced headaches, drowsiness, heat rash, and some itching. I now take Lexapro instead and still have similar symptoms.
