Avatar n tn Depression is very normal. However, I have heard and gone through Paxil and that it can cause the opposite affect. It can make depression worse, and if you miss a dose you can see the difference right away. I did alot of research on paxil and worked in Doctors offices and have seen several cases of Paxil causes more harm than good. Don't get me wrong for some people Paxil is great and for others it is bad. The Dr.
Avatar f tn I have a wicked anxiety disorder, for which I take 40 mg of paxil daily. I know paxil can cause heart and lung problems for the baby. I obviously want no harm to come to our baby but I am TERRIFIED of stopping the Paxil. The last time i tried I got the withdraw symptoms of derealization and depersonalization. it was the most horrifying experience of my life. I do not ever want to feel that again. So, any advice on this would really help.
Avatar f tn But depression was getting the best of her and Paxil 25mg became part of her daily medications. Prior to Paxil her heart mantained at "healthy" 95-110 bpm.
Avatar n tn When i was at the OBGYN the nurse told me that i could not be on paxil while i was pregnant and that i needed to try Zoloft. I never saw the Dr, i never talked to them or anything, i just discontinued my paxil and i began zoloft. The first few days i didn’t feel too bad, i didn’t feel quite right, but i didn’t feel terrible. Than for the next month almost (give or take) after that i had every bad side effect that i could have imagined.
Avatar m tn t heard much about doing it the other way around. And why Paxil and not Prozac or Lexapro? Lots of questions here. Sounds like your main problem, from the meds you're on, has been diagnosed as depression, not anxiety. True? If so, you might get better help on the depression forum.
Avatar f tn My husband and I are trying to have kids. We have been trying for only a few month, however, we are not young anymore (35) and I don't want to wait a year before consulting with a doctor (as it usually recommended). So here is my question: My husband has been taking paxil for the past 13 years (10mg). From the research online I found out that paxil changes sperm DNA that reduces permeability and as a result reduces the chance for pregnancy.
Avatar n tn I'll take a shot at your #2. My wife suffered for many years from anxiety neurosis. She eventually overcame it with a lot of counseling and Paxil, an SSRI drug. She was happy as a clam, and doing great on a maintenance dose of Paxil until a routine mammogram revealed early breast cancer. Two surgeries and radiation, and she in great shape. Then we start Tamoxifen, an anti-cancer drug for breast cancer for the next 5 years.

Avatar n tn I also had headaches (not anymore) intense anxiety for moments and muscle pain (on back and and abdomen) because I am very tense all the time. Yesterday was the worse of all. Horrible. The nausea was absolutely horrible, and I was so anxious that I felt like I was going to get crazy. And I am afraid that this is just starting. I took 10 mg of Paxil cause I couldn`t stand it anymore. My questions are: *Did I stop taking the Paxil very fast?
Avatar f tn what is the proper way to taper back to paxil? 3. How unsafe is paxil with pregnancy and what other options do I have? HELP! I feel like I am losing my mind!!!!
1035021 tn?1296820707 Hi there, I suffer of anxiety attacks and this was increasing my blood pressure very high, I went to see a cardiologist and he gave me XANAX for anxiety cause I wanted to know if this was the main cause of my high blood pressure episodes... At the same time my General Doctor gave me PAXIL for the same thing, telling me that this med was less addictive and will help me for panic attacks and anxiety long term.
Avatar f tn Hello! I am currently going thru a detox of Paxil, hydros, nicotine, and while I was at it I stopped the marijuana. I am a wreck! It's been about 10-13 days I've stopped the Paxil - I did so with the help of my doc from 40mg gradually down to 10. I am completely off the med currently. I started taking it approx 5 years ago It's been about 3-4 days since I've stopped the hydros. I started those about the same time as the Paxil. Problem being off these is I NEED them for pain.
1422233 tn?1282701102 Prozac is probably better for depression generally than it is for anxiety, and Paxil for whatever reason is very strong, probably because it also has a strong effect on choline receptors.
Avatar n tn Wow, you are so much like me. I have had anxiety since I was 16. I had no idea what it was when I was in school. I seemed to get by okay for years, with my anxiety only affecting me when I would be in certain situations. A few years back, I was perscribed lexapro and then effexor and I stopped taking both because I was afraid of how it would effect me.
Avatar f tn I do think increasing the Paxil will help, and doing this is very common as our bodies adapt to the medication and it becomes less effective. I'm not sure why they gave you both ativan and propanolol, I would think it would be one or the other. Maybe the propanolol was given to help with any withdrawal from the xanax. I don't feel that your PCP is the best one to prescribe these types of meds, a psychiatrist is more knowledgeable and would know what is best.
1386506 tn?1279613689 t be frightened, but Paxil is probably the most problematic med to quit taking, with snris running second. The best way to see if this is the Paxil and not a relapse is to go back on the last dose at which you felt fine and if this feeling goes away, it's a withdrawal symptom and means you have to wean more slowly. Everyone has their own speed. And don't let the psychiatrist pooh pooh your concerns. If this is done slowly and with foreknowledge, you'll be fine.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Paxil for PTSD for several years. It has also markedly helped with my fibromyalgia , irritable bowel syndrome, and urinary incontinence.. When I first started taking it, it caused me to lose 27 pounds. I have heard from doctors that after a while the Paxil can "turn on you" and start causing the same symptoms it was alleviating, such as weight gain, anxiety, etc., as well as new symptoms.
Avatar m tn After a failed attempt to fix my anxiety and subsequent depression that has come from it over the last 14 weeks with Lexapro and Paxil, my psych is switching me too Remeron (Mirtazapine) 30mgs. I started my first dose last night and already started my taper down of Paxil CR 50mg to Paxil CR 37.5 and hold there for a week. I also take Clonazepam 1mg at night to help me sleep due to the paxil. And I take Clonazepam .25mg dissolvable tablets during the day as needed for anxiety.

Avatar n tn Is it safe to just stop the Paxil 20mg and start Zoloft 50? Or, is tehre some sort of transition that should take place? 2. I briefly looked at Paxil and Zoloft - both seem to have the same possible danger in pregnanacy - newboen pulmonary hypertension? Any comments about this - is there a "safe" anti-depressant for pregnancy?
Avatar f tn Hey listen I have been on Paxil and loratab for like 15 years for the fibro. I have gained sooooo much weight!! Like 80 lbs. Avatar m tn I have been put on Paxil (the worst medication I have ever taken) and replaced that with Alprazolam .5, 3x day for the past 8 years. I am also a recovering alcoholic of 143 months. My Dr's have done heart monitors, Thallium stress test, changes in my diet but still no relief from the constant 2-3 episodes per min. There has been some times that I feel dizzy or faint. Do the the economic conditions and political distress we are in, I do not have insurance to visit my Doctor at this time.
Avatar m tn I was on and off Paxil for several years. After about 6 years it quit working. This can happen with these meds. In my opinion, I would give it a little more time. If you don't feel better in the next few weeks it may be time to think about another med. You did'nt do well on Lexapro?
Avatar m tn I have been dealing with anxiety for the past 15 yrs medically just before I started high school. I had it pop it's ugly head out a couple times throughout childhood. For the most part everything was stable until 2009 when I experienced massive anxiety, fear, nausea, tiredness, you name it. It lasted about 5 months up until I found a job that kept me busy enough to not worry about anxiety. I attribute the anxiety in 2009 to my parents marital problems, being in grad school, and not working.
