paxil

527657 tn?1214051850 Yeah, I gained lots of weight on Paxil though the antidepressant did not work in my favor. I dropped 30 pounds effortlessly once I got off of it. Now I'm a string bean & got stretch marks to prove it. Like ILADVOCATE said, everyone reacts differently. I know with Paxil that I had severe night sweats and strange vivid dreams accompanying the weight gain. Again, everyone reacts differently. Check out ILADVOCATE's depression central site & discuss your concerns with your pdoc.
Avatar f tn There really aren't very many specialists in the area of dysautonomia, I'm afraid. I was told P.O.T.S. could be hereditary and later learned I have a second cousin who has been diagnosed with the same thing. I've not had any official testing to determine the underlying cause of my autonomic dysfunction. I was diagnosed with P.O.T.S. back in 2004.
Avatar f tn I know I am not a doctor but I do have a decade of experience with 20mg per day of Paxil for the last ten years and currently on day 63 paxil free (not withdrawal free). (As a side note I have not been on any other SSRI's or other medication except birth control my whole life so it is more than clear that the effects of Paxil and it's withdrawal are clearly the culprit in my saga).
Avatar f tn I've been on Paxil 10 mg now for 3 weeks. I haven't felt any bit of relief from my generalized anxiety and panic. Shouldn't I be feeling at least a little bit better by now?
Avatar f tn It is unlikely that it is giving you mental relief before 4 weeks although it can help with sleep by then, so it may be just a placebo effect that is relaxing you. It takes 6 weeks for the full effect so if it is working now then it will get better too. If you are resolving your anx and adhd with twhat amounts to a placebo, then it might be a good idea to stop taking it, but this would have to be discussed with your doc.
610738 tn?1263111556 We would need to be able to verify the calories burned on an official government site. Do you know where you saw the 400 calories for every 30 minutes? If you can find this information on a government site, we'd be happy to add it for you.
Avatar n tn We have a very good friend saying with us, and since he went completely off of paxil several months ago, he is getting worse and worse. We can't find a doctor that knows enough about some of the severe complications of severe post paxil withdraw. He can't sleep, he is loosing weight because he can't eat. He is irrational, can't work, has tremors, muscle and nerve pain, etc. etc. Can you offer any help. He is afraid to take any medications. We don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn I have two kids and a third on the way. We were suppose to be getting married! Our kids being an official family. He was cheating all alone. Now, he's angry and left. I'm at high risk because of complete placenta previa. So, I'm off work until my placenta either shifts or I go into labor. What do I do? Help me!
Avatar m tn You need to be evaluated for the chest pain, and you should consider doing a much slower taper off of the Paxil. Paxil is a hard one to get off of. It might take a long time to get off of it completely. I'm sorry you are suffering so much.
1710955 tn?1309446473 So the dx is official. I have relapse-remitting MS. Apart of me was hoping the LP came back normal so that there was still a slim chance that I didn't have MS, but that wasn't in the cards for me. I'm ok with the dx. I'm going to start with Copaxone in 4-6 weeks. The neuro is going to send me the LP results when the O band part comes back. Oh, and the blood patch is still in place and I'm still headache free! Yay!
Avatar n tn I was recently prescribed 10 mg of Paxil to help my generalized anxiety. After one day of taking it, I have never felt worse in my life. I am more anxious than I ever have been- my basal level of anxiety has turned to near panic attacks 24/7. I've only been on it for 5 days, and my doctor doesn't think its due to Paxil because it takes longer for Paxil to affect my body. However, i find it too coincidental that the day after starting the meds, I have felt worse anxiety than every before.
Avatar f tn I know I keep posting on here about the paxil but ysterday I thought i was havng a breakthru...didnt feel quit as sick and the dizziness wasnt to bad or the nausea.....but today it is horrible....chestpains,vertigo,blurred vision, sick to my stomach, weak and fatigue....does the side effects come in waves like this....I was on paxil once but dont remember it diong me like this....but as I have posted before I have tried so many ssri, ssni, tricyclic and nothing works...
467977 tn?1262714747 I take Paxil and buspar on a daily basis. I used to only take the paxil, but I still had terrible anxiety in the morning. My doctor then added the buspar 2x a day. It helped me almost immediately. It took away that horrible nausea and anxiety by 90 % in the morning. Some people say that buspar isn't effective, but it has been very effective for me. I take Klonopin only on an as needed basis. (Which is very rarely). Hope this helps!
Avatar m tn My PCP called me in a prescription for Paxil. has anyone ever taken it and what are the side effects you may have encountered?
Avatar f tn Hi, I was on Paxil for a month and I hated it. My doc told me to take 1/2 a tablet for a week combined with Welbutrin. I am having some withdrawal symtoms. I am really cranky and at nite I cry. Is this normal and when will it stop? Oh I also hear a whooshing sound when I move my eyes.
1035021 tn?1296820707 Hi there, I suffer of anxiety attacks and this was increasing my blood pressure very high, I went to see a cardiologist and he gave me XANAX for anxiety cause I wanted to know if this was the main cause of my high blood pressure episodes... At the same time my General Doctor gave me PAXIL for the same thing, telling me that this med was less addictive and will help me for panic attacks and anxiety long term.
Avatar f tn You could look up Paxil online but choose a reputable site like Merck or look for a Physicians Desk Reference site. Look for the section that offers contraindications. There they list all the reasons a person should not take it - due to other health problems or if they're taking certain other medications.
Avatar f tn I had horrible episodes with my PVC's when I came off of Paxil. I'm not exactly sure why, but my body does better with prozac than paxil. Nearly every time that I have had an "attack" of SVT it was during a time when I was trying to wean off of paxil. Mostly I would just go back on the paxil and decide, well, it's better on than off. Then I got permission to switch to Prozac and I haven't been brave enough to try coming off of that yet.
Avatar n tn Is it dangerous to take Xanax,Paxil and Adipex? I take the XanaX thru out the day. The Paxil in the afternoon and the Adipex in the morning. Just wondering the if there is a risk in that. I am a feamle 28 yrs old.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Paxil for social anxiety. I get hot very quickly and after any small situation where i am dealing with people, i feel myself going red. Anyhow, i have found they somewhat help my situation, but they have caused me to gain some weight. I have come off the tablets, do you think i will lose the weight? And is there any similar medication i can take that does not cause weight gain?
Avatar f tn Ya, seeing a specialist, or checking out Dr. Goulds site could be beneficial. As far as the paxil, most antidepressants take a few weeks to become fully effective, and this is usually very gradual.
Avatar f tn I am new to this site and joined because I saw so much useful, updated posts. Thank you everyone. It's so good to read others stories and know that we are not alone. I had been on Paxil for 8 yrs due to a postpartum depression. Not thinking that I needed it any longer and with my doc's approval, I weaned myself off it. In hindsight, this was a bad decision. I started noticing little things but didn't give it much thought and BAM! It hit me full force again.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know of anything natural to help the hellashious withdrawal symptoms of paxil. Even weaning myself off is hell. I DO NOT want to get back on paxil. Never really needed them to begin with.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Paxil for 10 years for anxiety and depression and no longer feel it is effective. I do see a psychologist for depression but it is not totally controlled with counseling. My doctor has agreed to switch my medication. My concern is the withdrawal from Paxil.
Avatar m tn I was on Paxil for 14 years, and had enough of it's problems...sweating way too much anytime of the year, nastiness, unrelated anger to situations, rages, poor decision making, It made me a monster. When I stopped no one told me DO NOT STOP COLD TURKEY......I did in April 08 and in Sept. I went into the most hellish experience I ever had. Head pressure, lights flashing in my eyes, burning in hands and feet, tingling all over my body, OCD way off the wall, and fear I have never known before.
