Paxil mania

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil mania

paxil

Avatar f tn Point being that if you were taking Prozac or Paxil it would cause the mania. celexa should not. You might want to read the comments at the bottom of this link for more info. http://www.corepsych.com/2012/09/adhd-insights-prozac-paxil-ampehtamines/ Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Many psychiatrist do not give this kind of medication to people with manic depressive illness because there is some evidence that it triggers a manic episode. Your husband's anxiety does not yet sound like mania, but it is a state of excitement like mania, so given that, yes, the paxil may be contributing to his anxiety. You will have to go back to your doctor and ask him to help with the withdrawals of paxil, if that is the decision, and if so, to do it over a three week period....
Avatar m tn That should not be confused with mania. However, if Paxil which is an anti-depressent has caused you to feel manic then you should speak to your psychiatrist as if a person has bipolar sometimes anti-depressents can worsen mania and what is needed is a full mood stabilizer but only a psychiatrist can make this determination.
Avatar f tn Bipolar type 1 features full-blown mania whereas bipolar type 2 features more depression with hypomania. At least, this is how it was explained to me when my diagnosis was changed a few years ago.
Avatar f tn I did okay on Paxil as far as mania but when the doctor tried to combine Effexor and celexa I had a episode and once dosage was decreased and over a few weeks I was able to handle it, Thank God! I did take Wellbutrin and was so angry, mean and aggressive...bad stuff for me..
1105920 tn?1259961288 Hi there, I find your post very strange. You speak for your partner yet I doubt he could come to the conclusions you have. So I think you are assuming things which he hasn't said. Why? First you list his problems and then say he's usually "very happy" , especially around you. The very happy is odd in itself as the only way someone with those problems could show that would be to be experiencing mania. If he isn't experiencing mania then very happy is exremely doubtful.
950277 tn?1247274551 BP pts take wellbutrin, celexa, lexapro in the majority of the cases. A few take seroxat/paxil to go with lamictal. But my experience if you have unipolar depression then it';s OK BUT for BP you eventually will end up in mania. I tried all sorts of antidep[ressants you just name it. The only one i haven't tried is St John's Wart (natural herbs) but it is said also that it can bring mania. BP pts take usually a mood stabilizer not an AD even if they have a bipolar depression.
11214965 tn?1416269155 I've diagnosed with Bipolar since 2008 have tried Seriquill, Paxil, now I'm on Remron is this a good drug ?
Avatar m tn My bf is withdrawing from Wellbutrin and has been off it for about a month and he has been experiencing a number of side effects to include severe pain, muscle atrophy, terror nightmares, depression anger and mania and more.

Avatar n tn I have been on and off Paxil for 5 years now. I started on CR low dose, now at 30mg no cr. My body is used to it... and it doesnt help me very much anymore-although it is better than being with out any medication at all. Soon I will be getting re-evaluated and I know they're going to ask me to wean off it. I am really scared, because I know the few times I have lapsed in dose, it has been absolutely horrible. Any advice? Any info? Everything I find online is abstract and not really helpful.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed as Bipolar II after having been treated marginally for social anxiety and depression for 15 years. I withdrew from Paxil. I am slowly weaning from Klonopine while adding Lamictal. My beginning dose for one week was 25mg. This week, I am on 50mg. My racing thoughts have diminished as have confusion and rapid speech. I can't believe I am saying this, but I think I am too happy. I worry that I am having mania. I have trouble controlling my laughter in public.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I saw my psychiatrist yesterday, my 3rd session with him, and he has now told me I have Bipolar I. It wasn't a shock, I was expecting it, and I am actually not too bummed about it because at least now I know what is wrong with me. He told me I meet all the signs & criteria for this & because I have had several severe manic episodes which have severely affected my life at times.
Avatar f tn t just spouting off things, I just checked the drug interactions with Adderall and Paxil and Zoloft, and both were the same.
574118 tn?1305135284 t confuse that for Lamictal worsening mania. If at a full dose the mania starts to get worse speak to your psychiatrist about it then. Remember Lamictal is a first line FDA approved mood stabilizer. If the potential of worsening mania at a higher dose were that much of concern it wouldn't have gotten through the studies and been approved for this purpose. Relax and give it some time....
Avatar m tn I take 200 mg of Lamictal daily. 20 mg of Paxil daily and several other medications that are heart related. My job has been extremely demanding lately and a couple of times I accidentally forgot to take my meds. I have been inthese meds for sever all years. By mid day I had the shakes and it was very hard for me to concentrate. It led me to the conclusion that something I take is physically addictive. I skipped the Paxil one day and didn't have any issues.
Avatar f tn t feel weird getting off of it, just extremely happy I never had to take it again. But this is ME....when it comes to anxiety..panic ...mania..bi-polar...depression we are all different. I only suffer from anxiety attacks..every once in a blue moon! I do consider my self lucky! I can say my mother was on a lot of different anti-depressants and when she would have to change them she said she would feel all sorts of side-effects and some would take a long time to get out of her system.
459981 tn?1212193981 I tried Zoloft and had a terrible experience with it but have also used Paxil CR in the past and had great results. I cannot use the paxil CR while pregnant so i am wondering which SSRI to pick. any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your support.
Avatar f tn If you are bp and they only put you on an AD then you would have severe mania. Some of us have very mild mania but really bad depression. Works different ways for different people. Let us know what happens with the pdoc tomorrow.
574118 tn?1305135284 now i am just returning from a visit to my pdoc. Today mania started because I dared to take seroxat/paxil for 20 days 20mg but what can I do, I had depression. I stopped going to work and tomorrow I shall send a paper saying I have vyrimia i.e. attacked by a virius. Last time i said my mother was severly ill. I hope they believe me this time. I know it's hazardous to take an AD unless I take a mood stabilizer to go along witht.
1237757 tn?1323143119 m worried he might also be in the first stages of being launched into mania. Does anyone know how close these two are related and if similar side effects could be expected. I noticed Cymbalta is also a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor which worries me. When he saw his psychiatirst initally he did mention that both myself and our other brother also have mental issues. But I'm not sure if he mentioned if I was Bipolar.
Avatar m tn m currently 25, was diagnosed with bipolar by a nurse practitioner when I was 21, but only met her once. I have tried Paxil for depression for 3 months when i was 22. that made me extremely hostile and homicidal. my mother was in denial about it and kept me from getting the right help I needed. But I do have to say, you're still young and going through a lot of changes and it could be hormones.
Avatar f tn Ambien as needed for sleep. My mania seems to come at night the most and sleep is an issue. I was prescribed xanax for the mania as well. I'm very hyper. In the beginning, I was told no too. But when my new doctor saw how hyper I was first hand, he didn't have any problems filling the prescription. I also suffer from anxiety attacks. Thus, I was having one in his presence. The 1st doctor I saw, I asked for xanax because everyone in my family takes it....it works for them....
Avatar f tn I read that at a high dose it can send you into mania, it also said that the mania can be controlled w/ topiramate. I read that on the depression central website. Which I'll ask my doctor about that on Friday as well, she knows what I'm on and has access to the system! They can see what my ongoing conditions are and what meds I'm on etc. Thanks for writing me back. I feel like Lamictal is the right one, and I'm doing well, not too well though!
Avatar n tn I have had 2-3 episodes of Major depression during that time , and possibly 2 episodes of a (light mania?). I am not sure if I am bi-polar. I was treated for postpartum depression after my second son and put on Paxil for anxiety with mild depression 4 years ago.
Avatar f tn with no success each time I fly high in happiness then stumble into the bloody mania and each time the mania takes longer to extinguish. True i didn't try st john's wort but read about others' experience and still it brings mania. Of course there are AC's like lamictal which has AD property or abilify an AP with same action activating etc...but i am speaking of an SSRI say because it also kills not only depression but also anxiety and along with OCD. But in vain.
