Common Questions and Answers about Paxil information

paxil

Avatar n tn You're talking about Tamoxifen and Paxil used at the same time, yes? It has been proven that certain SSRI's which is what Paxil is do stop the benefits of tamoxifen. From Pharmacist's Letter's: July 2009, vol 25, no. 7 "You'll see new warnings not to combine tamoxifen with certain SSRIs..paroxetine, fluoxetine, and sertraline. .... Women have a higher risk of breast cancer recurrence if they take tamoxifen along with paroxetine, fluoxetine, or sertraline...
Avatar m tn I would like information regarding the differences between Paxil and Prozac. I've used Paxil in the past, and the truth is that it is very hard to stop taking it. Right now I'm taking only 10mg (paxil) but I don't feel that is working anymore and have been thinking about switching to Prozac.
Avatar n tn A friend just informed me that there was a study recently done concluding that Paxil may be related to heart failure and respiratory disease. Have you heard about this? It concerns me as I've been taking Paxil for twelve years to treat panic disorder. Thanks for whatever information you may offer.
Avatar f tn Thank You so much for the information on changing from paxil to celexa. That helps tremendously. I see my Dr. on Tuesday and was not sure if I sure change immediately from one to the other. I will taper of as you suggested. Thanks again...
Avatar n tn Just some websites with some more information on withdrawal symptoms of Paxil: http://www.join-the-fun.com/paxil-withdrawal-symptoms.html http://www.adrugrecall.com/paxil/withdrawal-symptoms.html http://www.medhelp.org/forums/MentalHealth/messages/30170.html Remember, before you take any medication, research it on the internet!!!!! Know what you can expect!
Avatar m tn Many folks on this forum have, or are, taking PAXIL. I personally have no experience with this med, but I'm sure you will be getting some responses soon. Just keep watching and if you haven't heard anything by tomorrow, post again using "Paxil" in your title. And spend some time browsing around and read what others have written about this med. I can understand you not wanting to take pills, but you and your doctor obviously discussed your need for this type of med.
Avatar f tn Of course being a person who suffers from anxiety I did some research (to scare myself futher) and found some information linking Paxil to Breast Cancer. Something to do with prolactin. I am post menopause and 55 now. Dr, can you you explain this study they did in Canada about this, how true it is, and should I quit the Paxil CR, maybe ask my Dr to put me on something else. I started with 12.5 in Feb. and now went to 25. Any info would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn what is the proper way to taper back to paxil? 3. How unsafe is paxil with pregnancy and what other options do I have? HELP! I feel like I am losing my mind!!!!
Avatar n tn I have been on paxil for 16 years at an average dose of 15 mg/day. I have been as high as 40 mg/day during high anxiety periods. I went completely off of it a couple of times only to have to go back on because of anxiety. The last time I tried going off of paxil, I was down to 5 mg per day for a couple of months. I then went completely off for over a month. I then had a very bad panic attack that came right out of the blue. I decided on my own to go back on the drug.
Avatar f tn i have taken anti depressants before but never long enough to see if they really work. past few months depression has been really bad and i have a bottle of paxil that my doctor prescribed for me. i have been reading on line some reviews about paxil and not many of them were good. has anyone here taken it and had good experience with it.
Avatar f tn I have been weaning off Paxil from Paxil CR 25 mg, now on Paxil 10 mg (to avoid withdrawal) because I have been on for probably 10 years now. Unfortunately, after about 3 weeks on the lower dose I feel my lack of motivation, melancholy feelings, being less able to handle frustration with work etc all coming back. I really do not want to go back up on my dose of Paxil since it has such severe withdrawal effects if I ever go off it again.
Avatar f tn I thought i was on zoloft with the paxil...but my doctor checked and it is paxil and wellbutrin...been on both since Sept. he decided the paxil alone wasn't working and added wellbutrin...but to me i do have the symptons as if i were on zoloft which the dr. said i wasn't...nurse didn't call me back after she got it straight with the dr. that i am on paxil and wellbutrin...maybe tomorrow. if not i will check with the pharmacy. thanks so much for caring.
1052703 tn?1266279337 I recently have had an unbearable increase in my anxiety. I went to the doc and he prescribe Paxil and Buspar. 20 mg Paxil once a day and Bupsar 3x's a day @ 10 mg each. I stopped taking the Paxil after a week because I was afraid of Serotonin Syndrome and what I read about Paxil and withdrawl. My anxiety has improved but I am not were I want to be.
1553775 tn?1325182402 t have any other causes of high blood pressure (I have had some tests run). I found some information online saying that Paxil caused their blood pressure to raise, but I am assuming it only happened in a small number of people.
Avatar f tn I've been taking 20mgs of paxil and my psycholigist wanted me to stop after taking it for month. I've been taking 25 mcgs fentanyl for a month now i'm trying to go cold turkey, but i've been on paxil before and had no problem with withdraws maybe cuz it was only ten mgs. The symptons never afected me this way . It could be the fentanyl as well but i was'nt as bad before I started these.
Avatar n tn Some seem to claim that Paxil may not work very well the second time around. Is this true? I came of paxil about 9 days ago substitiuting it for Prozac. I took Paxil for about 8 months and it worked well for anxiety but due to financial reasons wanted to try Prozac. However, I think Paxil is the one for me so I want to start taking it again. Is there any evidence to suggest it won't work for me as well as before?
Avatar f tn My husband and I are trying to have kids. We have been trying for only a few month, however, we are not young anymore (35) and I don't want to wait a year before consulting with a doctor (as it usually recommended). So here is my question: My husband has been taking paxil for the past 13 years (10mg). From the research online I found out that paxil changes sperm DNA that reduces permeability and as a result reduces the chance for pregnancy.
Avatar m tn As for switching, the reason I suggest at least trying a higher dose of the Paxil is that Paxil for whatever reason is much stronger in its affinity for both serotonin and choline, and that makes it hard when you stop taking it for something else to work. That's not hard and fast, just something to consider as you decide what to do.
Avatar n tn Interesting, I have just found information on others complaining of this. One person said they had that sensation and paxil hellped get rid of it. Others said they only had that sensation while on paxil. I will send you the link to look at--check your in box.
Avatar n tn My understanding is that grapefruit can interact and increase the effect of Zoloft and Prozac but not paxil. The protein involved with Paxil is not affected by grapefruit. You can ask your local pharmacist about this as well.
Avatar f tn Paxil to Klonopin in 10 days - Ok I was on Paxil (SSRI) for 9 months which targets then serotonin in your brain. Then I was weaned off of Paxil and crossed over to Clonazepam (Benzo) in 10 days which targets the GABA receptors. Now I am no doctor, but why would anyone do this? If you ask me, there has to be a better way to get someone off of Paxil. Two drugs, two distinct actions. Klonopin is a bad way of masking SSRI withdrawal and vice-versa.
Avatar n tn my doctor said we had to get a small dose back into my system before weening off it completely, so she prescribed me with 10mg of non extended-release paxil (essentially 24-hour paxil) to take everyday, then to cut that pill in half to get 5mg and then a liquid paxil to keep going down 1 mg until I'm no longer taking it.
Avatar f tn Thanks so much for your response. I have not been able to find out any information. However, that may be a good thing as I am suscepible to what I hear. When I got myself off paxil, I purposely avoided websites because I heard they existed that said how horrible it was to get off paxil. I got myself off the paxil in short order. Once I'm off this blasted trazadone, then it will only be one psychiatric med to go: xanex. I'm not looking forward to getting off of that one.
