Paxil in system

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil in system

paxil

Avatar n tn t usually as effective with anxiety as Paxil, and has a much longer half-life in the body, so it takes longer to get Prozac in your system and out of your system than it does Paxil. You're obviously suffering from withdrawal now, though it doesn't sound like the worst withdrawal, but Prozac might never work for you -- you never know which meds will work and which won't. That's why it's better to completely quit the Paxil and get over it before you try a new med.
467977 tn?1262714747 Do you recommend taking the Paxil at the same time as Buspar, and then another Buspar (as needed) later in the day? Or just Paxil in the morning, one Buspar in the afternoon, and one later on (I know this is according to each person, I am just curious). AND, will the Buspar actually combat the anxious feelings? Not the panic attack feelings (Paxil works for me on that), I just need to get rid of this leftover anxiety!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn Prozac actually gets in your system much more slowly than Paxil, and leaves your system much more slowly. Paxil is one of the most difficult meds to quit. What you're getting is bad info from everyone. For one thing, Prozac is just as likely to cause suicidal thinking as Paxil -- all antidepressants can do this. But they generally do it when you first start taking them, not after many years on them.
Avatar f tn Musculoskeletal System: Arthralgia, Arithritis, arthrosis, Bursitis, myositis, osteoporosis, generalized spasm, tenosynovitis & tetany. It is not a common side effect, but it can and does happen. I had never heard of it either............until I did the research.
Avatar f tn Well Prozac is different than Xanax. It takes a few weeks to get in your system. I have heard a lot of ppl say they didn't gain on this and then I have heard a lot say they did. I think it just depends on the person! Good Luck!!
704329 tn?1518523098 Paxil will remain in your system throughout the night, but you may notice some symptoms of withdrawal by not getting your usual dose. One symptom of withdrawal is insomnia. If you a miss a dose, you should take the missed dose as soon as possible, but if it is close to the time that you usually take the medication you should skip the missed dose and restart your usual routine. You should be fine as long as you get the prescription refilled and continue with your normal routine the next day.
Avatar m tn If I take xanex ocationally in this period of Paxil withdraw will that harm me?? Are the anxiety attacks just a side effect that will go away after the withdraws are gone?? NOTE: I dont have anxiety issues any more I THINK. But they have come back. Will they continue after the withdraw of the paxil is complete????
Avatar f tn I too have had anxiety and panic attacks since I was a little kid. I am currently 33 and going through a medication switch, but at 21 I was at the point that I had lost my life to the anxiety. I couldn't leave the house and was too afraid to tell anyone what was going on. I finally decided to go to a doctor who put me on Paxil. It was a life saver. The doctor also gave me Xanax to help immediately and lessen the initial side effects of starting the Paxil.
527657 tn?1214051850 Does anyone know about how long it takes for antidepressants to get completely out of your system? I was on paxil for two years and gained too much weight so my doctor switched me to zoloft for 3 weeks. Im off both now offically today. Or at least I hope so. Im not planning on taking any more zoloft unless the withdrawel is too bad. I weaned off it. Also does anyone know how long it takes to start losing the weight from these drugs?
398624 tn?1266269449 t talked to you in a while!! I finally started the Paxil and am regretting it now. But, I have a follow-up with the therapist on the 28th of this month and am supposed to tell her how it works. I feel like a train wreck!!! Did you gain weight on Paxil? I AM SO CONCERNED ABOUT THIS. These symptoms were worse yesterday than today, but still bad!! I've been in the bed since yesterday morning!!! Pray for me to get through this K!! How have you been doing?
Avatar m tn I have no idea when the impotence might go away. But if you look at the list below, you may begin to understand WHY he has sexual difficulties. I know he no longer takes Paxil, which eliminates ONE potential source of the problem, but I don't know the half-life of Paxil and it could still be in his system, albiet a small quantity. That still leaves 3 of the 4 meds that have possible sexual side effects.
Avatar f tn This may not be the right answer for you, but consider this: people with anxiety have a tendency of psyching themselves up about things, especially medication and potential side effects. You might be suffering from the placebo effect. I know that just a day after taking celexa for the first time, I started feeling really strange. But the fact is, the medication couldn't possibly have infiltrated my system enough in only 24 hours to induce symptoms or side effects.
Avatar n tn Read a book called The Antidepressant Solution by Joseph Glanville. Good advice both on how to taper off paxil and how to determine if you're ready to come off. The main point is, you have to have dealt with your issues somehow, probably in therapy, and basically feel you've beat it and you're not just feeling better because of the medication still being in your system. Otherwise, when you come off, you'll still have the problem and just end up on another med.
Avatar m tn I had been on Paxil for about 10 years and I believe it just wasn't working well enough. I tapered off of it in about 3 months without any problems. I have been off of it for about two months. Two weeks ago our air condition system conked out and I had to replace the whole unit. Spending $3000 kicked off an episode of anxiety that has lasted since then. I'm coping but, I do notice that I don't feel the same as when I was on Paxil, so I guess it was helping a bit.
Avatar m tn The doctor thought I may not have enough Paxil in my system so he put me on 25mg Paxil CR twice daily and it made me feel even worse. I felt like I had the flu and very achy. Very bad withdrawal effects. I was then put on regular paxil 40 mg daily and I constantly had the eye zaps and strong depersonalization feelings like I was in a constant withdrawal. I was then switched to Lexapro 20 mg.
Avatar n tn I switched from Paxil to prozac because of weight gain - been on th eprozac for one week and depression/anxiety symptoms are back in full force. I want to go back to Paxil - do I have to wait while the prozac gets out of my system, or can I start today? Do I need to taper off the prozac (20mg) if I've only been on it a week?
Avatar m tn First thing I wonder about is........are you doing this weaning/transition process under the supervision of your doctor? I hope your answer is yes. Both the paroxetine (Paxil) and the busPIRone (BuSpar/Wellbutrin) have as side effects dizziness. Since you are currently taking both these meds, I'm not surprised you're feeling some vertigo.
Avatar n tn There are always pluses and minuses to medications like Paxil. In the past 8 years, have you tried eating right and exercising regularly to try to maintain weight? I know that it can really be a bear while on SSRIs. If you do decide to switch, just ensure you do it SLOWLY...in my opinion, both of these meds work, but of course we are all affected differently...keep us posted!
1758627 tn?1312855055 I just went in patient for 20mg Paxil & 2mg Xanax if have taken for 10 years. The DR told me my system is drug free. I'm 2 days out of my 28 day progarm. They got me off both in the 1st 8 days & gave me other meds. My nervous system is now shaky. My Dr said it was cravings and nothing else. Anyone know how long this lasts. Would regular sauna use help?
Avatar f tn My husband and I are trying to have kids. We have been trying for only a few month, however, we are not young anymore (35) and I don't want to wait a year before consulting with a doctor (as it usually recommended). So here is my question: My husband has been taking paxil for the past 13 years (10mg). From the research online I found out that paxil changes sperm DNA that reduces permeability and as a result reduces the chance for pregnancy.
Avatar m tn Im confused. I have been on SSRI's (Paxil & Paxil CR) in the past and they worked and I have come off on several occations, but currently I tried to swith to another SSRI which didn't work. Now I have been switched back to Paxil CR and I am currently on a new high of 37.5 milligrams for a week and a half and still don't feel that great. Is it usual to have a set back at every dose increase before it gets better?
Avatar f tn t think your doctor would have you go back on the Paxil since it has been almost a week off it, but I would give them a call just in case. Paxil can be nasty to come off of.
Avatar m tn well I am weening off or the bup. down to 75 will quit this week On 40 Paxil and 100 lamictal. Klonopin only when I need which I haven't in the last few days. so it looks like the paxil is kicking in, BUT I don"t like what I have read about Paxil.
Avatar f tn s not that simple. Paxil is known to be stronger in its affinity for serotonin receptors than Zoloft, and is very hard to stop taking if you've been on it for awhile. There's absolutely no evidence that starting a new drug before you've withdrawn successfully from the old one works, though I'm sure some people do it well. Your taper off Paxil has been very fast.
Avatar m tn You need to be evaluated for the chest pain, and you should consider doing a much slower taper off of the Paxil. Paxil is a hard one to get off of. It might take a long time to get off of it completely. I'm sorry you are suffering so much.
