Paxil for stress

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil for stress

paxil

Avatar f tn when I started Paxil for my anxiety, my doctor gave me Clonazepam to take for the first month or so while I got used to the Paxil (because when starting Paxil, you can feel worse before you start to feel better). So, for the purpose it was prescribed for me, it worked. If you are having short-term anxiety, it may be a good choice for you...because it is very addictive, so every day use is not always recommended.
Avatar n tn I tried many antidepressents but again because of my tachacardia many wernt right for me. Paxil was what I was on for about 17 years. They changed it to lexapro i guess because my body was so ammuned to the paxil i just fell back into a deep depression I was on 40 mg of paxil, I take 20 mg of lexapro. I take 100mg of toprol for my tachacardia which I hade an ablation done for in 97. I take 10 mg of the vivactyl at bedtime, just started 2 nights ago , so i dont know if its going to work yet.
Avatar n tn It all started 17 yrs ago was placed on paxil for panick attacks and it seemed to work well. I eventually around a yr ago weaned myself down from 60 to 12.5 mg it was all fine. Recently I had a lot of stress in my life and it hit me hard panick and non stop outta control anxiety wouldn't stop. I went to my psy. Who I saw 17 yrs ago and he suggested we switch to lexapro so I did the crossover and the next night felt horrible. I called him crying he said u are having discontinuation symptoms.
Avatar f tn Maybe try the klonopin alone at first, you can always ad an AD later if needed. I truly believe depression for most people is stress driven. For me, depressive symptoms were just a bi product of severe anxiety which cleared up after taking that ativan. For about the last 6 months I have only taken .5mg a day. I've been thru terrible alcohol withdrawal and was very concerned about dependence issues at first with this drug.
Avatar m tn In January she changed to elavil 25 , but i was zombie, i couldnt get up from bad, so doctor lower to 10 mg of elavil. for the last 5 months i was suffering for major colon infection and stress and anxiety went to the roof, the last couple weeks, i cired almost every day that i am not able to live like that any longer, doctor sugessted to increase to elavil to 20 or tired paxil again, I am so scared taking paxil again.....
Avatar f tn I've been on Paxil for 2 years, diagnosed with hypothyroidism 1 yr ago... Long story short, I'm trying to get off Paxil now, hoping that my depression was caused by thyroid. I weaned myself (doctor approved) down to 10 mg, doc said I should be fine to stop taking it... Now I am having SEVERE headaches and nausea. I don't want to get back on this med, and would prefer to suffer through withdrawals, however it's very difficult to function when I'm feeling this way.
Avatar n tn i have an aunt that was suffering from anxiety an depression for a hole year with out any meds. she start using paxil for six months, now she is off of it now for seven months without any anxiety or depression symptoms. i was thinking of switching from xanax to paxil but my dr said the xanax is working so for so dont change as yet. but everything dosent work the same for everybody but you can try it knowing it works for depression.
382594 tn?1266610613 Has anyone on Paxil experienced night sweats? I've been taking Paxil for about a month and 1/2 10mg a day and in the past week I've woken up drenched. Any input on this? Thanks!
Avatar m tn In my experience, we can feel run down, have all sorts of aches and pains, and many symptoms which you describe all from stress. Have you been experiencing much stress and/or anxiety for some time now? Keep us posted!
Avatar f tn I'm a 36 year-old male. I've been taking 40mg of Paxil for 10 years. I have to take the name-brand, because the generic doesn't work for me (tried 3 different times). A few weeks ago, the old feelings of anxiety started creeping back in. Racing thoughts, sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, overwhelming sense of fear, etc. Now, I am feeding that anxiety with more fear. I am afraid that Paxil isn't working anymore, and I am scared that I will have to come off of it.

547002 tn?1219797376 Ok, so i have been started on paxil for my panic disorder, but i have been having attacks and sweating and have headaches, is this all normal? I was on 5mg for a week, then 10 for a week, so i have been taking it for two weeks? I feel anxious alot. I hope this is normal?? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I was doing fine for over 2 months then in July, I started to have mild anxiety on and off for 6 weeks. I then went off of all Paxil for 2 weeks, but then I had panic attacks and physical anxiety. I have no racing thoughts or worries. This appears to be stress related and it's all physical. My doctor told me to go back on 5mg which I have for the past 3 weeks. I have really bad mornings and it seems to lessen as the day goes on.
Avatar f tn All together, I took paxil for 6 years. I decided to stop taking it because it kept me from concentrating and memorizing which is vital since I am in college to be a school teacher. In addition, I gained so much weight due to the medicine. My doctor helped me get off of the paxil which was a horrible experience that I never want to repeat again! Now my anxiety has come back and it is becoming worse. I tried lexapro and it didn't help.
Avatar n tn I would not minimize the contribution that anxiety may have to this problem. Instead, ask your pcp for recommendations regarding counseling for the management of stress. Stress can cause significant changes in the body's biochemistries including substances that stimulate the heart You and your doctors should remain diligent in an attempt to identify the exact cause of this problem. 10361664 tn?1409609407 This is my opinion, but this isn't a good idea. Paxil is very hard to quit taking and needs to be tapered off of slowly, but it's best to do this before starting a new medication. Zoloft cannot substitute for Paxil, as they're very different in the receptors they target and Paxil is one unique drug.
1432927 tn?1283546704 Further, when i try to exercise (pulse to 140 bpm) I get multiple pvcs. BP is controlled. Recently, I was put on Paxil 10 mg for anxiety - now my pulse runs constant 110 at night and 84 during the day with intermittent PVCs, should I discontinue Paxil - is there a negative link to beta blocker therapy? History: Chronic Anxiety (15 yrs), HPN (20 yrs controlled) Recent Cardiac MRI, Echo, Thall Stress Test all negative.
Avatar f tn Hey, for me Paxil did the trick! It took awhile to kick in, but when it did, it worked great. I took 10mg for 6 months and then bumped it up to 20mg for another 6 months...currently on it still...trying to get off of it soon though...hope you find something that helps you.
701334 tn?1262853503 I was given Paxil for my first medication for anxiety and depression. Let's just say it made me feel like I could run a 10 mile marathon in 2 minutes. Not good for someone who was already climbing the walls. It also made me have weird vision. I would see white lines squiggling in my peripheral vision. Scary. It also blurred my vision in one very small spot. Needless to say, I stopped taking it. I was then prescribed Lexapro.
Avatar f tn Hi! I started paxil six weeks ago for anxiety. I started at 10 for the first week and then up to 20. At four weeks the doctor suggested I increase to 40 because I wasn't having any improvement. I didn't go all the way to 40mg, but I have felt better since going up to 30mg. Today, I have all my anxiety back. I was looking for some help/advice. I also take lorazapem in the mornings. Thank you!
Avatar m tn I have anxiety for no reason at all which baffles me and keeps my mind going nuts most of the time. For the better part of 10 years my issue was controlled through paxil or paxil cr and a little bit of Clonazepam. Over the past year, my anxiety has gotten much worse and paxil doesn't seem to work anymore like it did. Over the past 5 months I have come off of paxil, switched to Lexapro, switched back to Paxil CR upping my dose (50mg) to see if that would work.
