Avatar n tn no good for me, i ended up using the patch which has worked for the past 9 months, but now it seems to have stopped working, and i get hot days not flashes they last for days on end. I would try the patch first. good luck......
Avatar f tn I just joined the site but wish I had back when menopause first came into my life (September 2009). I used to be a very cold natured woman who would sometimes listen to my older friends talk about hot flashes and wished I had them so I wouldn't be cold all the time. As the saying goes, "be careful what you ask for"! I endured the flashes as long as I could then decided I would talk to my doctor to see what she would prescribe.
Avatar m tn Call your doctor about the side effects and see your OB-GYN to rule out other causes for the bleeding and hot flashes (they can be a symptom of things other than menopause). Hope this helps and take care.
Avatar n tn About 2 months a go my gyneocologist put me on Effexor and told me to stop prozac for hot flashes. I was on the Effexor for about 5 weeks and had an allergic reation to it.. rash and all the worst side effects you could have. I tapered off that which has been horrible. I am now left with a bad headache and extreme fatique and lack of strength. What can I do to feel better, without having to go back on the meds.
2044839 tn?1331255841 I felt like a zombie and almost felt my anxiety comin back once i started thinking more about how the medicine made me feel. I have pressure in the back of my head as well as cold flashes in the am and hot flashes in the pm. Ive never been on anti deprssents before this. I had to take a xanax today to calm me down and i still feel so drained. Is this normal? I dont think i can handle this medicine. Any adivce???
Avatar n tn After my hysterectomy 5 years ago, I was given Paxil for hot flashes. The hot flashes got better in time, but what I noticed more, was that I slept so much better, my moods and reactions were smoother, my palpitations were non-existent, even though I was drinking a good bit of my favorite beverage, sweet tea! But then about 2 months ago, I decided to go off the Paxil. I had gained about 15 lbs, and I was always constipated. So, now, I have all my sx back.
Avatar f tn I was on Paxil for a few years with great results - overnight the clouds parted- but I gained weight and felt bloated and went off twice because of the discomfort (currently off over a year). Coming off was traumatic- hot flashes, anxiety for several months and enough to fear going on again. I am currently doing okay but struggling with some depression- crankiness, loneliness, irritability, trouble focusing, complaining all the time, worried, sad. I just feel generally unpleasant to be around.
Avatar n tn About 30% of women on tamoxifen also take an SSRI for depression or hot flashes. FDA will add new warnings..and Medco is alerting physicians if a woman on tamoxifen gets paroxetine, fluoxetine, or sertraline. Suggest using one of the other SSRIs or venlafaxine if needed for depression or hot flashes.
2129876 tn?1335500274 No, you are not too young to be starting menopause. I know many people that have started in their 30's. Your Dr should check your hormone levels again to see if that's what's going on.I'm glad to hear he's doing that. Yes, it could be some withdrawal from the Paxil. I went through a little bit of hot flashes when I weaning off it and I'm long past menopause.
Avatar f tn t know if there is a connection. When I stopped the Paxil the hot flashes did stop. The other thing is that I can get a script for Benoquin but I can not get a pharmacy who can fill it and my hands are very white but at the wrist I am spotted. Luckily I am not very dark skinned but I have to use alot of sunscreen. What can I use on the stubborn spots and how can I find Benoquin?
Avatar f tn I have been on Paxil for 10 years my Dr. that had been working with me retired I ran out of refills so I thought I would just stop taking it. It has been 4 months know but I am not able to sleep having bad hot flashes should I try and find a Dr. and go back on it? My biggest concern is I can't sleep will this get better in time? I'm just feel lost and not sure what the right answer is there any thing you can advise for me I really just want to get a good night sleep.
Avatar f tn I took Effexor XR for 2 years along with my Tamoxifen, It really did decrease my hot flashes and also some of my down moments. Effexor XR you have to make sure you do not miss a dose, it is a very strong antidepressant. I would start crying and couldn't stop, could not figure it out until I realized it was the medicine. So I weaned myself off with the help of my doctor.
Avatar f tn tummy problems hot flashes like thryoid condition been tested dont have thryoid my reg dr said he going to give me anther depression pill bec paxil cause side effects again this is the 9th depression ive tryed
Avatar n tn m starting to feel anxious again. dry month, hot flashes in the morning. Lightheaded. Whats up with this? How long should a normal cycle of weening of this dosage take? Some one said maybe a year.
Avatar n tn I am a breast cancer survivor for 8 years now; I have severe hot flashes; every 45 minutes day and night; it has totally affected my quality of life...and ability to sleep; I recently found out I could take this drug. I am on 200 mg nightly; so far I have been waking up and had insomnia; will this get better and go away; I have only taken it for two nights; also how long does it take before one might notice their hot flashes have decrease? My dr. said I might have to go up to 400 mg.
400867 tn?1371753094 Im afraid I cant be of much help with this one either,,, Iv been told by my doctor that its good at reducing anxiety, lifting depression, aids in sleep when its fleeting, and supposedly helps with the physical pain/discomfort of depression...... but you probalby read that on the box already.
422220 tn?1256764529 Tossed and turned for hours then got a horrific headache, chills, hot flashes, and the inability to stay vertical for any amount of time. I also had a scratchy throat. I figured I had either a really bad reaction or I have the flu. I took my temperature earlier today and it was 96.8. I have a doctor's appointment at 4:45 but I thought I would ask you all (During one of my rare vertical moments) if you know much about Paxil and liver function.
Avatar f tn I have never had hot flashes. If it is a hot flash, I read that anti-depressants can trigger hotflashes on one article but then on others I read they help with hot flashes. Was this a hot flash? I know for sure whatever it is , it came from the Lexapro.
Avatar n tn Oh yea for sure. You say the Paxil didn't sit well. Keep in mind that you were tapering off Effexor while simultaniously ramping up the Paxil. It may not have been the Paxil that was causing the problem, but rather the withdrawl from the tapering of the Effexor that made you think it was the Paxil causing problems. Get what I mean? Even during a med swap, withdrawls are still in effect. take it from me. I have swapped 14 different medications in my 17 year battle with depression.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently switched me from Paxil to Wellbutrin due to the decreased sex drive of Paxil. Otherwise Paxil was working well for me. Anyway, my issue is that it was a direct switch, no weaning off of Paxil and I think I'm having the withdrawal. I thought the Wellbutrin would just sort of take over, but I don't think that is the case. I didn't think to ask my doc, and the soonest I can get back to see him is Monday. It's been 5 days w/o Paxil and 4 with Wellbutrin.

Avatar f tn Pregnancy night sweats are similar to hot flashes, although they take place during the night as a woman sleeps as opposed to hot flashes that occur during the day. Night sweats during pregnancy, which is also known as "nocturnal hyperhydrosis" during pregnancy occur because the body´s temperature gauge begins to malfunction as a result of hormonal imbalance that occurs during pregnancy.
Avatar n tn I also, recently, have been experiencing the sweating of the face, head and neck. I take Paxil (40mg) once a day and at bed time along with a water pill, Hydrochlorothiazide (25mg). During the day if I exert myself, even the smallest amount, I'm wringing wet. Its disgusting! Unfortunately, it IS a side effect of the Paxil. I was on Effexor from 1987-2001.
Avatar f tn ok thank you what ic clondine?

Women out there do you know of anything natural I can take? I am on 10 mg of lispinol for high BP thats it..Thanks in advance for your help!
Avatar f tn It helps me so I am staying on it and have been on it for 3 years.... so added benefit to mental sanity is diminished hot flashes!!! LOL!!!! I am 18 days post surgery and feeling much better but still sore and easily tired.... Idiot Dr. sent me back to work tomorrow.... will see how it goes!!!
Avatar f tn My doc mentioned estrogen too, if my hot flashes were too much but I declined. The hot flashes actually went away for about 6 - 8 months and I thought maybe it was a change of climate and also I did some online reading and found that some women say some foods, like spicy foods might trigger hot flashes so I limited my diet. They're back now though and I'm not sure why except I am back to eating more variety in foods, even spicy foods.
