paxil

1422233 tn?1282701102 I went to my doctor today because my anxiety is kind of bad again. He upped my dosage of Paxil from 40mg to 60mg & gave me a prescription for Klonopin. The Klonopin is only as needed but he had me take one tonight to see how it would affect me, that went fine. Now I am nervous about upping my dosage of Paxil tomorrow. I am going to take 40mg in the morning & 20mg in the afternoon, as that is what my Dr. suggested.
Avatar f tn I have been on 20mg of paxil for 10 years. I have had some changes in my life( new boyfriend and elderly mom giving me problems) recently I have started having panic attacks and feeling down again. Do I need a change or increase in my meds.
Avatar n tn I have been on Paxil CR for 2 years now, and my highest dosage was 37.5 mg about 5 or 6 months ago. Over the past 6 months I have SLOWLY been reducing my dosage as I feel Paxil CR has not been the right drug for me. I would reduce the dosage about every month and a half. About 1.5 months ago, I reduced my dosage from 12.5 mg to 6 mg. Around this time, I started having EXTREME fatigue and chronic, unbearable nausea. I have had a colonoscopy and endoscopy but both were completely normal.
Avatar n tn Ive been on paxil about 10 years but paxil CR only last 2 years. No other meds. Tried skipping one day then 2 days then things got UGLY! So Im back on regular dosage but really would like to be free of it! Thanks for any other advice. S.B.
1452588 tn?1285086427 Switched to Celexa along with the other BiPo meds, You might want to talk to your doctor about changing dosage of Wellbutrin or whether he/she recommends another anti-depressant. M4's advice is spot on!
Avatar f tn Hi, I don't know the answer to your question but I understand because I just went from Paxil to Lexapro and am feeling miserable. I think it's due to Paxil withdrawel and the Lexapro doesn't seem to be working for me. Have you ever gone from one antidepressant to another?
Avatar n tn Hi my doctor wants me to start on paxil on top of my ativan and risperdal does anyone know about paxil and what I can expect with this med I hate taking meds to begin with so I dont want to start another one if I don't have to. Any info wold be great. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Did doc say to just stop? You can't just stop taking Paxil, you have to taper off very slowly. It's a very tough drug to stop taking for most people. I will tell you I was on clonazepam and Paxil at the same time for years, but the Paxil was way more effective than the clonazepam. What may have happened is new challenges may have arisen in your life -- drugs don't cure anything, they just mitigate the symptoms but new challenges can override the effect.
983155 tn?1248700406 If I were you, if your psychiatrist recommended this course of action, meaning cold turkey on Paxil and then the high dosage of wellbutrin, I would probably look for another one. This one clearly doesn't do his homework. If you want the doctor to answer this second question, you'll have to put up another thread to him, he generally doesn't answer the same one twice.
Avatar m tn I AM A FEMALE AGE 42. I HAVE BEEN TAKING PAXIL FOR 13 YEARS. I AM CURRENTLY WEENING OFF PAXIL. HOW LONG DOES THE WITHDRAWAL LAST AFTER YOUR LAST DOSE. I AM WONDERING WILLTHE DEPERSONALIZATION GO AWAY WHEN IM DONE GOING THROUGH WITHDRAW..
Avatar n tn I was on paxil for 9 years. I was put on Buspar afetr two years because paxil was not longer working for me. However I had all the horrible side affects you had/ve. All these drugs are horrible to your body. You start one then the doctors put you on another one because the previous one was no longer strong enough.
Avatar f tn If your concern is only the weight change factor just keep an eye on your weight and if you start to notice you that your gaining or losing call your doctor. The weight is one of the less serious side effects. But do your research on the Paxil and the dosage. Or nothing may happen at all the side effects vary from person to person. You may not have any side effects.
1295419 tn?1276822872 Good morning-For anyone on Paxil (or any medication for anxiety) have you ever noticed small twitches in your legs? I have them which seems to have started around the same time that I started my Paxil. They aren't very noticeable but I assume I am being hyper-sensitive to all symptoms. Any input?
1422233 tn?1282701102 ve probably heard is that Prozac, because it stays in the body a fairly long time while the other ssris, particularly Paxil, leave the body very quickly, is thought not to have as bad a withdrawal problem so some psychiatrists, after tapering your Paxil dosage down, will try to substitute Prozac so as to take you off the Prozac rather than the Paxil. Whether this works or not is very individual. Either way, you'll have to start a slow taper off Paxil first.
Avatar n tn Greenlydia gave some good advice. I have the same question. How long have you been on Paxil? I was on Paxil for panic disorder 4 years ago. It took a good six weeks before the drowsiness subsided. I am recently back on 10mg for a return of the panic attacks, though not nearly as bad as they were years ago. Still a little drowsy, but it's letting up.
Avatar f tn would it hurt to take half of ones paxil dose for a few days and reassume to the regular dose again, i am currently on 40mg daily and sometimes i see if i am able to get by on just 20mg. There are days of course that i do forget to take my paxil. Would this cause any kind of harm if one is doing this alternating of the doses and i have some weeks that i have been really busy and have forgot doses.
Avatar m tn I have read that adding wellbutrin can help with both weight gain and sexual problems, but it is stimulating so you have to watch your anxiety. You're also on a high dosage of Paxil -- do you need that much? Not that a lower dosage will necessarily help as to the side effects. I also couldn't eat much when coming off Paxil, but it was because of the difficulties so many have coming off this med.
406886 tn?1202068581 Do you think if my doctor says I can get of Paxil and increase my dosage of Xanax I will feel the same way?
Avatar m tn Doctors sometimes change the dosage of a particular medication like Paxil in my opinion. I have been on varying dosages of an SSRI; sometimes higher and sometimes lower. It would increase my anxiety in the short term both mentally and physically as my body adjusted. In my opinion, an open line of communication is necessary with your prescribing doctor so you can ask as many questions as you like.
Avatar m tn They're both in the same class of drugs, and pretty much treat the same symptoms. Paxil is a newer medication, and if the dosage isn't working you may need to have your doctor increase it. Prozac is an old drug and I think the newer ones come with fewer side effects. It's best to discuss this with your doctor since he is aware of what will best suit your needs.
Avatar m tn I am currently on 20mg of Paroxetine (Paxil) once a day and 10mg of Buspirone (Buspar) twice a day. I am also on Nexium and Amoxicillin (3 more days). I have been taking my pills like this: Morning/Breakfast: Paroxetine, Buspirone, and Amoxicillin Lunch: Nexium Dinner: Buspirone and Amoxicillin. I read today that both Paxil and Peroxetine taken together could cause problems. I have read otherwise somewhere else. After I read this I felt extremely dizzy and faint feeling.
2102085 tn?1350866645 What about maybe asking your doc to forego the SSRIs all together and making the Klonopin a regular, daily dose? You may need a slightly higher dose, since you're already on it. Of course, Klonopin long term can lead to physical dependency and would require a slow, deliberate taper to come off. There are also some issues with tolerance, where you would need an occasional dosage increase to maintain the same level of effectiveness.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently switched me from Paxil to Wellbutrin due to the decreased sex drive of Paxil. Otherwise Paxil was working well for me. Anyway, my issue is that it was a direct switch, no weaning off of Paxil and I think I'm having the withdrawal. I thought the Wellbutrin would just sort of take over, but I don't think that is the case. I didn't think to ask my doc, and the soonest I can get back to see him is Monday. It's been 7 days w/o Paxil and 6 with Wellbutrin.
Avatar n tn Im on paxil 10mg and think i should increase my dosage, it helps but i think i need a little more... My concern is having less of a sex life than i do from being on the 10mg, weight gain because i am a skinny girl and always have been, and being even more tired... Anyone have any feedback?
