I read up about both but am wondering if weight gain is a problem with zoloft. As for paxil i gained over 25 pounds and now Im trying to lose it and it sure isnt easy. I found out you don't take zoloft at night but paxil you do. I have got to lose this weight.

I'm currently on Zoloft. For only one full day!! And already i'm having the same problem i've had in the past with anti depressants. Lexapro prozak paxil ect...... Are the meds to counter this? Levitra? Viagra? I have no problem with erections. Does this effect wear off? Do i need to switch meds. This has the potential to be very embarrassing for me. Please help.

s if you go off all at once but my son who is 14 and has just developed panic attacks was put on zoloft 50 mgs and it has helped him. I took zoloft first but gave me gastro problems so doc wanted me to switch. Zoloft seems to work very similar to paxil at least it did for me.

I've been on Zoloft for the past 6 months and my sexual drive has gone! Not only my libido; but it is very rare I have an orgasm anymore. Is anybody out there suffering the same side effects? If so, have you considered swithching meds?

Hi everyone, Long story short, I tried going off zoloft without success, fell into a deep depression in late Dec, and was put back on zoloft in early January. At the time I was taking Nefazodone and recently weaned off of that. I was on 50 mg Z for 3 weeks and was bumped up to 75 mg one week ago. My anxiety has been bad so I am taking klonopin for that. I'm not doing well emotionally and thought the zoloft would work by now since it's been a full month.

Wellbutrin, in theory, is supposed to counter the sexual side-effects of Zoloft since Zoloft is a soft SSRI and Wellburtrin a relatively strong NDRI at 300mg. Zoloft is also different than some antidepressant by providing better communications in different parts of your brain which might contribute to it's antidepressant effect. Anyway please be aware that when it comes to drugs, one drug does not fit all. Like one size of pants won't fit all.

I have an anxeity disorder that triggers OCD and Paxil has worked very very well and given me a great life since being on it. I figure I should try something different to see if it helps the weight gain and if Zoloft doesn't work, or help me to lose the weight then I will have to cut off the wine and go back on Paxil. Suffering from Anxiety *****, but I would take the weight gain over feeling freaky all the time!

Hi, I was on zoloft for about a month and was pleased with the way it stabalized my terrible mood swings and anger. It basically numbed my emotions and made it easier to get up and go to work, school, etc. without having bursts of anger or tears for no apparent reason. Although it helped the mood swings, I still felt no motivation to do anything and felt even more fatigued than ever before. My biggest original problem was my drive and motivation.

It is a possibility you had a thyroid issue all along but you were prescribed Zoloft for your depression instead of being tested for a thyroid problems all those years before. I suffered from anxiety and went for help and was quickly prescribed paxil and lexapro (different times) when it is quite possible I should have had my thyroid checked instead. I was only dx as hypo in Sept 2007 but wonder how many years I took meds for anxiety when I could have had my thyroid checked.

One of the side effects of antidepressants like zoloft is sexual problems. It's really normal for your libido to decrease and you may even have times reaching orgasm. I'd search for Zoloft on either this site or drugs.com to and read up on the side effects. You should feel better that what you're experiencing is considerably normal and will go back once you're off the drugs.

I am on 40mg paxil and 20 mg (break tablet) of zoloft. The zoloft makes me feel really anxious and almost like i am going to have a panic attack but the paxil is still working well enough to stop it. I am worried about when I actually wean off of paxil....if i am going to be a panic attacking freak again. argh. I am so scared to wean off. When I have lowered my dose in the past, I started FREAKING OUT and my face went numb, and I cried and screamed and it was ugggly.

My dr. After 10 years changes me from Paxil to Zoloft. I immediately was having withdrawal. Called him and he said to take a Paxil, I did he called me in a new script. But now I'm taking 40 mg Paxil and 100 mg Zoloft. Did he mean to just take one pill or or keep taking my Paxil. I'm not so sure. I felt horrible today threw up after waking up way to late. Very dizzy lightheaded. Balance issues. Bad headache.....this is day 4 I've been on both meds. Anyone have any advice?

I was on Zoloft a few years ago, but not for very long. For me, the only side effect was sexual dysfunction - I had a very low sex drive and could not orgasm. I started taking Wellbutrin with the Zoloft to try to counter the side effect, but it really didn't work. I am now taking Effexor XR 150 mg and have noticed that it takes longer for me to orgasm, but still isn't as bas as when I was on the Zoloft. However, this medication will work differently for everybody.

Zoloft caused insomnia and sexual side effects for me. I could not even drink a 4th cup of coffee without feeling like I was on crack. I stopped Zoloft and went back on prozac. I stopped the prozac after a couple traumatic events with increased panic. For some reason i thought the prozac no longer worked. i doubt the zoloft would have either. The sexual side effects will happen with any ssri, but prozac was much more suttle and only lasted a few days.

I had been on Zoloft for the past 5 months and before that Paxil (the lowest dosages for both). When I found out I was pregnant I stopped taking Zoloft but the depression and anxiety has returned. There is not definitive medical treatment for depersonalization and derealization however antidepressants such as SSRIs (prozac, lexapro, celexa, paxil, zoloft etc) and benzodiazepines (used for anxiety, such as valium, klonopin, ativan) have been used with some success in some patients. I thought i was on zoloft with the paxil...but my doctor checked and it is paxil and wellbutrin...been on both since Sept. he decided the paxil alone wasn't working and added wellbutrin...but to me i do have the symptons as if i were on zoloft which the dr. said i wasn't...nurse didn't call me back after she got it straight with the dr. that i am on paxil and wellbutrin...maybe tomorrow. if not i will check with the pharmacy. thanks so much for caring.

5 Paxil Cr to 100 mg Zoloft. Paxil increased my weight and blood pressure. I was on it in varied doses for 5 years. I am 2 wks into switch over, cutting back paxil weekly. I am really tired, mind is racing more. Hope this goes okay, and my weight and blood pressure come down. Anyone else?

If you have panic attacks like I do, then I would advise Zoloft first before Paxil. Zoloft and Paxil are the best medications for panic attacks!! But with Zoloft, it's easier to come off of and less addicting. Plus they work almost identical. Paxil has a more sedating effect and will make you slightly tired at first.

I was on Paxil for a few months and came off and experienced massive withdrawal, worse then my previous Loratab addiction. I came off cold turkey but immediately switched to Zoloft. I was on a high dose of Paxil. The only ache I had was a massive headache 24/7. Massive!! I went back on Paxil for two weeks and I'm off again but it's odd that I have no headache but I have the most horrible back pain. I never had this before starting Paxil.

He told me to stop taking the paxil and take the zoloft the very next day, and from then on. In general, Lexapro has fewer side effects than Zoloft and Luvox. Zoloft causes more nausea, and sexual dysfunction. Sexual dysfunction is also common with Luvox, but less than that caused by Zoloft. My wife has been taking Paxil for several years now and I have noticed several major changes in her. First she has no sexual desire at all anymore. None. Second she has lost almost all compassion. It is like most of her emotions have gone. Last thing I have noticed is weight gain. I would say 40 lbs in the last couple years.Any ideas for help?

I do get scared because I was on the Paxil so long with quite a reprieve in attacks and yet Only on Zoloft for 2 yrs and got another bout.
