345079 tn?1299202476 But for some reason I keep thinking its pointless as I am taking so many different medication and some for a long time and I worry that I am doing damage to my liver etc anyway. I mean 14 years on Paxil cant really be good for someone, add in Trazadone, Inderal, and Klonopin and it worries me that I am doing my body harm :( I am also suppose to take long acting morphine as well as statex when needed but I refuse to unless I cant handle the pain.
Avatar f tn Both my brother and I have taken SSRI antidepressants for a long time, and we both have fatty liver and other issues. Not saying to ditch your prescriptions - as I need mine... I do try to eat a bit healthier now and mindful about what I put in my mouth and how often I exercise. Hopefully your enzyme levels will drop.... Mine had at last test, but I am awaiting bloodwork that was drawn a week ago.
Avatar f tn You should ask your GP about the possibility of a systemic fungal/yeast infection, and ask them who to see. You may be able to take care of most of it with a single course of oral antifungals. Unfortunately, the only thing that actually works for toe fungus is the oral antifungals. There is a slight risk of liver damage, but the doctor should take baseline labs before starting so you'll know if anything's going wrong, and the course is 3 months.
Avatar n tn You not only can but should take a multivitamin, as well as a good stress B and probably some extra magnesium as well. All medications leach certain nutrients from the body, and all can stress the liver, so it's good to keep up your health when you take medication.
Avatar n tn I had been on Effexor XR 75 mg for 6 years and Paxil 20 mg for 4 years. My liver enzymes (ALT 120) were elevated and both psychiatrist and primary doctor agreed to discontinue these drugs. I was tapered off each drug one at a time over a 6 week period plus my Straterra 60mg for ADHD. It has now been 3 weeks since no further meds. I experienced severe withdrawals including: vomiting (first 3 days), nausea (for abt.
Avatar f tn People can have elavated readings but have little or no damage and you can have normal readings but have damage.
Avatar n tn I was on Paxil years ago, and i dont tell to many people this but i got pregnant , and i couldnt stop taking the paxil it had already done damage to the baby, so i had no choice but have an abortion, and now its years later , im married and myself and my hubby are on MH cause we cant get pregnant, but about you i adventually got off of it , it is hard, i got really dizzy couldnt sleep, and was very cranky, now it didnt last to long id say at the most a month.
Avatar n tn I did some basic Google searching, and the Paxil website does list sweating, dizziness and nervousness as possible side effects, so perhaps you were just suffering Paxil effects, not blood-sugar effects. If you want to go back on the Paxil for the vertigo, ask your specialist about these side effects and your pre-diabetes state. Only he/she would be qualified to properly figure that out. Good luck with it all.
Avatar m tn some sites claims that can damage your liver if you use it heavily and for a long period of time, some others places claims that has no effect on the liver. I'll send you both a PM telling you where I got it.
Avatar f tn I was on Paxil for several years, and what I can tell you is coming off of it is very hard, as you've discovered. None of these meds was ever researched for long-term use, but for me, it worked for my phobias better the longer I was on it, but the side effects got worse, too. My own opinion is there is a possibility of long-term damage with any medication, and particularly those that affect brain function.
Avatar n tn All ssris and snris have as a common side effect increased bleeding and bruising. It's why they warn against using NSAIDS when you're on them except under a doctor's care. But I would be concerned if it's happening this soon after starting, and I'd also look into the recent concern over liver problems and Cymbalta. I'd talk to my psychiatrist and do some homework to see if this is the best med for you.
Avatar f tn I have had normal liver enzyme test and a normal ultrasound and ct scan, but I still have extreme bloating. This has been going on for months now. I worry because I binge drank on a nightly basis for about an 8 year span, 3-5(sometimes more) glasses of wine and such. Should I be worried that I have liver damage that is just not showing up? I have changed my diet significantly ( no dairy or gluten) but I am still very bloated. I am sick with worry that I have caused permanent damage.
Avatar f tn The only way to truly ease your mind is by being totally honest with him/her. I have liver damage and kidney damage due to drugs stage 2 liver stage 3 kidney.. if your liver were damaged and you had a flare your belly would be extended/pain upper right you would be lethargic/vomiting.. other symptoms but these being severe.. It is not fun and I would not wish it on anyone.. I contracted hep C from slamming and further continued the damage through pills/alcohol..

1012981 tn?1322603293 My brother has been in the hospital for 12 days for liver damage. His skin and eyes are yellow, abdomen pain and swelling of the stomach. They drained off 12 liters of fluid from stomach area. He's has dementia, no communicating with him that makes any sense. In this situation what is his chance to make it through this? The doctors and nurses are not saying much, but wait and see.

Avatar n tn for a checkup yesterday and the ALT liver function test was high. The other liver tests were normal just that one was high. The Dr. thinks it is from my acid reflux medication and is changing that but I rarely take it. Could it be the Darvocet? Sometimes I take one then another before the four hours are up for the next dose but mostly only one at a time. I just thought as long as I only took the recommended amount I wouldn't damage my liver.
Avatar m tn I have been taking 3 to 4 vics a day. They are 10mg-660's. I don't drink, am I trashing my liver?? 1691630 tn?1329366215 Recently I have noticed after being slightly constipated, and working out, a lot of pain/soreness in that area, and in my right lower back. I was curious if I might have damaged my liver awhile back, and maybe symptoms are showing now? I know the liver heals itself though, so I am not sure if I should just wait for it to still heal, or if I should get it checked out? Thanks for your help!
Avatar m tn The recommended dose of paracetamol for a single adult is two standard 500 mg tablets. Researches have reported that the threshold for liver damage to start from a single paracetamol overdose is 15 gms (30 tablets). However liver damage could start to occur at a single overdose of 24 standard tablets or 150 mg/kg body weight, (whichever is the smaller).
