Avatar n tn I had *awful* irritable bowel syndrome throughout chemo. Luckily (?), when I also had it during radiation, a nutritionist met with me. She recommended a supplement called "Acidopholis." It's the bacteria in the intestines which we all need to digest food, but chemo and radiation kill it. I used it faithfully and saw a radical improvement in my IBS. No more constipation/diarrhea. Wish I'd been told about it during chemo! (I take one called Multidopholis Plus.
Avatar m tn But for many years I had suffered from gastro problems which i and to some degree also the docs thought it all comes from the HCV infection, now I see that these problems still remain so i went onto a doc who is speciallist in this area and he told me that eventhough it is not exactlly IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome) I should treat it as it is IBS. Also I would like to add that I have had my GB removed about 8 years ago because of GB stones.

Avatar n tn It has also markedly helped with my fibromyalgia , irritable bowel syndrome, and urinary incontinence.. When I first started taking it, it caused me to lose 27 pounds. I have heard from doctors that after a while the Paxil can "turn on you" and start causing the same symptoms it was alleviating, such as weight gain, anxiety, etc., as well as new symptoms.
Avatar n tn I have irritable bowel symdrom and had right pain. It turns out I also had gallstones and I had to have my gall bladder removed. It might be something you want to check into, just in case. If it is your gall bladder, the surgery was very easy recovery. I had survery 3 days before Christmas and by Christmas I was fine, just a little hunched over. But good luck and I'd check it out just in case :) Hope all is well!

Avatar m tn Hello, The various possibilities for your symptoms are gall stones,GERD(gastroesophageal reflux disease) and irritable bowel syndrome. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional bowel disorder characterized by mild to severe abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating and alteration of bowel habits. In some cases, the symptoms are relieved by bowel movements.Diarrhea or constipation may predominate, or they may alternate (classified as IBS-D, IBS-C or IBS-A, respectively).

Avatar n tn I have anxiety and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (includes some of the symptoms you describe) and apparently, this is a common combo for people with anxiety disorders. I am not on SSRIs (like paxil) anymore but docs will try to encourage me to go on one to combat both problems. I prefer taking my meds for the IBS (levbid) and working on the anxiety through counseling. I am 42 and female and have had some years to deal with my issues.

Avatar f tn There are a variety of conditions that can increase the frequency of bowel movements. This can include irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel syndrome, celiac disease, or an infection. Testing the stool for infection can be considered. More tests can include blood antibody testing for celiac disease, as well as a colonoscopy to exclude inflammatory bowel disease. If the tests remain negative, treating irritable bowel syndrome can be considered.
Avatar f tn You could be possibly suffering from Celiac Disease/Ulcerative Colitis/Crohn’s disease/Irritable Bowel Syndrome. All these result in tender abdomen, loose stool or loose stools alternating with constipation, abdominal distention, cramps etc. A number of times a gastroenterologist is able to diagnose these conditions by clinical examination and detailed medical history.
5082295 tn?1371250911 The multiple symptoms reported by women with both irritable bowel syndrome and premenstrual distress syndrome suggest that this group may be particularly challenging to treat and may require a multicomponent (e.g., education, diet, relaxation, cognitive restructuring) approach. Chart out lifestyle measures which included regular exercise, specific diet schedules and stress reduction protocols. And you can use OTC Acetaminophen for relief from pain. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
