Paxil and drowsiness

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil and drowsiness

paxil

Avatar n tn Has anyone discovered a way to combat the drowsiness that Paxil causes? It is my only complaint about the drug; otherwise, it has helped me tremendously.
Avatar n tn Also, has your doctor said anything about buspar??? Now I take Paxil and buspar (2x a day) and Klonopin when needed (which is hardly never). I weaned off the depakote after one year.
Avatar n tn I took Paxil for 4 years and expreienced headaches, drowsiness, heat rash, and some itching. I now take Lexapro instead and still have similar symptoms.
Avatar n tn Hi, I was going to take Paxil for OCD and anxiety on HIV. How helpful is it? what are the side effects?
Avatar f tn But they are all prescribed by the same doctor and he said they were fine. I even called the pharmacist at CVS to make sure before I took the paxil and she said they were all fine just not to take the xanax or ambien within 8 hours of each other because it could cause increased drowsiness. I have never felt this bad before. I don't know what to do. How long will this feeling last if I don't take this medication again?
Avatar f tn Yes, and thanks for the welcoming. I've been on paxil for a few years and it's worked wonders for me. I'm only on 15 mgs per day (20 was too emotionally numbing so I take one and a half) - but that 15mgs allows me to stay in control of my emotions. It helps me with anxiety, and I'm pretty sure I have/had PMDD which it helps emotionally with. That being said, I'm stable on them, but have had trouble with fatigue for too long to remember. I think the Dr.
358304 tn?1409709492 If some drowsiness and nausea are the worst side effects, consider yourself lucky! And really, try to relax, OK? Nothing horrible is going to happen to you. At most, you may have to try a different med. Some of us have to try half a dozen before we find the one we can live with. It's all a c*r*a*p shoot.
Avatar n tn I've currently been taking 15mg of lexapro for about 14 months. Works great for my panic/anxiety. However, the tiredness side effect hasn't gone away, instead it seems to be worse. I could seriously sleep all day long if I didn't have to work. I take my meds at night. I can barely get out of bed in the morning. I tried taking it in the morning but that didn't help.
Avatar m tn He had me stop Paxil for two days and then begin taking Setraline 25 mg for two days and then upping it to 50 mg. I began feeling terrible. Increased heart rate, drowsiness, pressure in the front of my head, occasional dizziness and seeing visual flashes of light (just a quick flicker) at certain times of the day.

Avatar f tn I have been having drowsiness since past 4 months, sometimes with and without nausea. I have got my MRI of the brain, certain blood tests which were normal. one of the doctors diagnosed is as muscle spasm but i am so confused whats going on. please help me! Thanks!
Avatar f tn it really effects me. i feel like im running on no sleep and im very cranky and all day i just want to lay in bed. its like im so drowsy but just cant seem to fall asleep. any advice/suggestions/thoughts would be appreciated!
620877 tn?1282764097 I have had 2 instances in the last year where I have started a new medication and within a few days of beginning it, I develop anxiety (anxiety and weird thoughts) symptoms. The first time it happened was when my GI doctor put me on 5mg of Lexapro (antidepressant) to treat my hypersensitive esophagus issue. I took the medication for 5 days and was an anxious mess during that time. After stopping the medication, it took another 2 or 3 weeks for the anxiety to go completely away.
Avatar f tn i understand that it is much harder to get off paxil if i stay on that. i see dr. tomorrow and i want to stay on effexor and klonopin. paxil scares me. eventually maybe in 6 mos i will be healthy and past smoking and i dont want to be stuck on meds for years. had dep 7 yrs ago but not panic attacks. am drinking lots of water.
Avatar n tn The newer antidepressant (which is pretty much all that is getting prescribed nowadays) have pretty much the same side-effect but each person is different so if you are getting a lot of side effects (past the two week point - they all suck the first two weeks) on one you may be able to switch to another and it works great. There are just too many variable in the human body. For example I can't handle Wellbutrin but can handle Cipralex or Celexa.
Avatar m tn sciatic nerve damage. The Gabapentin works great, aside from the fact that I get brain fog and drowsiness. This drug separates me from pain, however, makes me a zombie! Does anyone know of a drug or supplement that I can take with the Gabapentin to combat the somnolence?
Avatar n tn Despite being very happy with the medication overall, I continue to suffer from drowsiness and the need to sleep more - up to 12 hours a day compared to my normal 7 hours a day before I used to take cipralex. I am sure this is directly due to cipralex even though the side effect is not listed as a common side effect of taking cipralex.
Avatar f tn There are minimal side effects and it has a small sedative effect also. I have taken both Zoloft and Paxil and I liked the Paxil better. You definately want to discuss daily meds w/ your doctor. Hang in there. Watch your caffeine intake also. I notice that my anxiety is much higher when I am amped up on Coffee and or Energy Drinks.
Avatar m tn There are two antidepressants that Vyvanse should not be taken with, those are Prozac and Paxil. They slow down the excretion of Vyvanse considerably and you are left with an undesired and non-therapeutic build up of Vyvanse. The symptoms you are having correlate with this. It may not be found in the literature but if you look up Dr. Charles Parker on YouTube, he explains this in detail in one of his 37 videos. He works closely with Dr.
Avatar m tn The last 2 months I have been experiencing dizzness and off balnce everyday it only gets better when i lay down , but it all started 3 months ago when my vision was a little weird and then the flollowing month i started to get pressure in my head and dizzness and off balance, i get numbess feeling on both of my thighs when laying down, my doctor sent me to get an MRI and the insurance didnt approve but they did approve CT scan but from what i have read the CT scans do not detect, im currently on
457721 tn?1256640798 I am 23 years old and currently on Paxil 20mg a day for depression, OCD, and anxiety/panic disorder. I have always had a problem with anxiety...but the depression has been in the past three years and the OCD more recently. I am about to finish my first month of the medicine and then I am supposed to up to 30mg a day since the anxiety is not getting any better. In the past month I have found that I have a HUGE desire to drink. ALL DAY LONG. I have NEVER been a big drinker....
Avatar f tn Also my doctor prescribed a medication called Provigil to help counteract the drowsiness caused by my medications because I do take several and all of them may cause drowsiness. Perhaps you can research Provigil and see if that may be an option for you, I know it has helped me tremendously. Good luck!
Avatar m tn 25 milligrams of Klonopin in the morning and 20 mg of Paxil and have been on this dose for 6 yrs. I will take the Xanax for a day or two along with my current meds and will be ok as mentioned for a couple wks to be followed by an episode of dry heaving and anxiety which lasts. I work pretty long hrs during the wk and have a great wife and a young son born last November. The doc says this can be related to stress etc.. That very well can be the case.
Avatar m tn I will stick on the last half mg for a couple of weeks, and see how things develop. I know that fatigue and drowsiness is not listed as a side effect of zocor, but there is a lot of stuff on the net suggesting the side effects of statins are far more extensive than we realise. Anyway, I have been off of it for five days now, with no change to the fatigue. Will probably risk staying off for a couple of weeks, and then go back on. Thanks for your comments.
Avatar n tn I take paxil 25 cr now and it is working pretty good. My doc upped me to 37.5 and I noticed no difference either so went back down to 25 without a problem. I think as long as you are taking paxil going down on dose is not an issue, it's if you go off all at once but my son who is 14 and has just developed panic attacks was put on zoloft 50 mgs and it has helped him. I took zoloft first but gave me gastro problems so doc wanted me to switch.
Avatar f tn My husband and I are trying to have kids. We have been trying for only a few month, however, we are not young anymore (35) and I don't want to wait a year before consulting with a doctor (as it usually recommended). So here is my question: My husband has been taking paxil for the past 13 years (10mg). From the research online I found out that paxil changes sperm DNA that reduces permeability and as a result reduces the chance for pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I take these two meds, why?
