Paroxetine withdrawal how long

Common Questions and Answers about Paroxetine withdrawal how long

paxil

Avatar m tn How long have you been taking these medications. There are start up side effects associated with paroxetine that go away once your system is used to the medication. Some doctors will start with 10 mg of paxil/paroxetine and titrate up to 20 after a week or so.
Avatar f tn m in it for the long haul. Was wondering if anyone knew how long this weirdness was going to last or when it might let up a bit.
Avatar f tn I have been weaning off Paxil from Paxil CR 25 mg, now on Paxil 10 mg (to avoid withdrawal) because I have been on for probably 10 years now. Unfortunately, after about 3 weeks on the lower dose I feel my lack of motivation, melancholy feelings, being less able to handle frustration with work etc all coming back. I really do not want to go back up on my dose of Paxil since it has such severe withdrawal effects if I ever go off it again.
Avatar m tn I have been on Paroxetine for a couple of years now due to some family-counseling issues. I was reluctant to go on them at first. But for my family, I thought I'd try it. It did reduce my anxiety. I slept better, deeper, and longer. A life-long stutterer, it cut my stuttering by 50-75%, and improved how I was viewed at work (I believe), by my calmness, better speech, and ability to focus. I had suffered from significant anxiety my whole life up to that point.
Avatar f tn Has anyone been perscribed Paroxetine for their neuropothy symptoms? I saw my physiatrist last week for the increasing pain I am having related to my syrinx. He advised me to check back in with my NS, and gave me a script for Cymbalta. Apparently, this anti-depressant also works on nerves. I'm definitely not a depressed person - so I had my reservations for Cymbalta, but the pharmacist re-assured me that my dr prescribed it for neuro issues.
Avatar n tn I still feel the electric shocks and muscle aches from the withdrawal of my previous antidepressant (paroxetine) and I started getting a pounding heartfrom the seroquel. I went to see my gp who reduced my seroquel to seroquel xl 50 mg and I am to go back in a week to her, while I do not see the psychiatrist again for 5 weeks. My palpitations have stopped but the mood swings and depression have returned to just how they were before I reduced the dose. I do not know what to do..
Avatar n tn have to say depends upon how long he has been on the paroxetine for and whether there is any interaction with the introduced drug and how long it takes for the new drug to build up to it's therepeutic effect. I can't remember how long for Paroxetine but remember that that was something like a couple of months. Prozac with me took something like 3 months this year although i was on a high dose and had been on it for a number of years where i steadily reduced and had consolidation weeks.
Avatar m tn I've been on Paxil, i.e. Paroxetine for about 6 years now. I ran out about 5 days ago. As has happened in the past after quitting Paxil my sleep is interrupted with such stressful nightmares. I mean I wake up and I am either screaming and my heart rate goes sky high. I am a about 3 days from when i can get another refill. I don't think i can make it and have so much to do this week during the day. When I call my doctors office and especially on call, they go berzerk.
Avatar m tn Just to say, insomnia is a very common long-term withdrawal problem when you stop antidepressants. When did that start? How well did you tolerate stopping the paroxetine? Why did you stop taking it? Did it stop working? Did you taper off slowly before starting the cipralex? I'm asking to see if we can trace what's happening and when it started so you know what's causing what.
486038 tn?1300063367 Oh yeah! Now I remember this. You know it might be a side effect of the Cymbalta. I don't know if you remember , but Six weeks after being jerked off of the Zoloft that I had been on for 14 years and abruptly switched to Paroxetine the next day without any taper, My vision went haywire and that was the start of this whole mess with me! I as much as anyone can really believe that SSRI's can have these kinds of effects!!! Did you discontinue the Cymbalta?
9704730 tn?1405741284 I am finishing my 3rd day clean from 15 years of being chained to tramadol. This is the hardest thing I have ever done. How long does this pain from withdrawal last? ?? I am scared of figuring out how to live and function without this drug. I have been on it so long I don't remember how I was without it.
Avatar m tn t explain exactly. What should I do? Is it a withdrawal effect of ZAPTRA 25? OR Adverse effect of FRANXIT? How to diagnose my problem? I walk speedly for one hour everyday exactly 5.5 kilometers. I am very confident person, not having any fear. Please help me/suggest me.
Avatar f tn Do not mess with benzo withdrawal on your own...you can have serious withdrawal issues like seizures and worse. I agree not without a doctor supervising would I do this. Be careful really. Usually they taper you off that stuff real real slow.
Avatar f tn m still getting the cold sweats and not sleeping and just all around miserable. The question is How long does it take to get past this? My doctor told me I have an extra sensitivity to these pain killers cause most people require a lot more than I was taking to become addicted. I'm 56, going through menopause. I'm supposed to be having hot flashes not cold sweats lol Even now my hands are clammy and I am cold. I could sure use an encouraging word.
Avatar f tn A question -- were you on the Lexapro and Celexa for a long time, and did you taper off slowly or did you stop cold turkey and switch to the Zoloft? Because if you did the latter, you could be suffering withdrawal from the old drugs and that will make it hard to determine if it's a side effect of the Zoloft or a withdrawal effect. Switching to another drug even in the same category will not be equivalent, as they target different receptors and don't work the same.
Avatar n tn t your fault, the brochure of seroxat says it needs long time to wean off. I am sure your pdocs know some tricks to reduce withdrawal symptoms, perhaps some antipsychotics which contain antidepressant properties like seroquel.
Avatar f tn I never even knew I would have withdrawal, although I may be being really naive. Anyway...how long do these symptoms last? The worst is restless leg, but the runny nose and severe pain in my back and elsewhere is pretty bad, too. I feel like I can't stand it another minute.
Avatar m tn Also, it sounds like you are certain that you have anxiety and depression, and that is what the paroxetine is for. And paroxetine does not particularly have a reputation for keeping people awake at night, at least not that I have ever heard of. So I don't know about getting off paroxetine and staying on the amphetamine, when you're not sure you even have ADHD, and amphetamines are well known for causing insomnia.
Avatar f tn Hi Doctor, I was recently prescribed Paxil CR for depression from anxiety I have been suffering from a very long time. I moved to a new State and my new General Dr noticed it right away and asked why I was never treated in the past. I guess I was too scared to take medicine for years, but I am so tired of fighting it. Tried the health foods and all and nothing worked. I started the end of February with 12.
Avatar n tn You WILL feel normal and healthy again! Its a long process but well worth it. Its an especially long process for post suboxone, but if you give yourself time, and wait it out, its the most incredible feeling. Just be strong. Good luck and God bless to you both.
