Avatar m tn So I have been taking Paroxetine(Paxil) for 4 months now and it changed my life, took away my O.C.D. and my social anxiety. But i had side effects so i started taking Bupropion(wellbutrin) So after 1 days dose which was 1 pill twice a day, I had my O.C.D. back about half as bad and my social axiety came back about half as bad. So i stopped taking the Bupropion and i am still taking the Paroxetine but it's not working as well as it did before.

Avatar f tn I have been suffering from OCD since I was about 12. My OCD takes different forms. I had harm OCD for a while, when I was younger it is germs. I sometimes feel that I am maintaining it, and other times feel like it totally has control over me. I know I am stating the obvious, but it definitely spikes up during hard times, losing a friend, boyfriend problems etc... I have read a few books that help. I would love to have someone to talk to OCD about in general who understands it.
Avatar m tn Over the last 6 months I have been experiencing a huge amount of financial and job stress, such that my doctor was concerned enough to put me on Paroxetine HCL (Paxil), starting at 25mg and now 30mg. It is the first drug I have taken for treatment of my issues since 1995 when I was on Xanax for 6 months. I started forgetting to take my pill over the last week or two, and over last weekend just gave up on it, because I just don't feel it's doing anything productive.
1563026 tn?1295031701 ve been on ssri such as paroxetine for 10 months (due to excess consumption of 5hour energy drinks, which resulted in development of anxiety, OCD and depression when stopped abruptly), i weaned myself slowly, so i didn't have any side effects, but 2 months later i started to suffer from insomnia ( trigger was stress and rhodiola rosea IMO), could it be because of low serotonine levels?what would be the best alternative to ssri?
Avatar m tn I agree that we all make mistakes and we all have done things that we are not proud of. Mistakes are an important part of life and an important part of learning. I would say that your guilt is coming from the OCD, as guilt and OCD go hand in hand. It's ok to make a mistake, it is ok to mess up. Do not beat yourself up for this. I am not a Dr, I am not sure if it can affect your medication or not, I do not think that a one time thing will be a biggie at all. Relax.

Avatar f tn My ocd has been going crazy the last 24 hours. I have to recite a words or phrases (certain ones) ans if I do it wrong or mispronounce it I have to start all over again until I get it right, my head hurts and I get really upset if I have to re-do it, sometimes it takes several times to do. Also while I am reciting if the time chances on the clock I have to recite. it's like a ritual. Anyone have this?
Avatar f tn These medications are also used to treat Trichotillomania and OCD and include clomipramine, fluoxetine (prozac), sertraline, paroxetine, fluvoxamine, citalopram, escitalopram, nefazodone and venlafaxine. These new generation antidepressants - the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors - are really safe. I'm on them myself. You can also try some behaviour therapy like habit reversal training and with Exposure and Response Prevention which some nail biters find helpful. Hope that helps!

Avatar m tn Hi, I'm a 18 years old guy I recently started having sexual relationships with my girlfriend. It's the first time I have sex so I have quite a few questions... The one that concerns me the most is that even though I do get erections, I just can't keep it long enough. I don't want her to think that she's doing anything wrong because she's beautiful and I am sexually attracted to her but I don't know, I just get so nervous.

The study listed other pharmacologic treatments for skin picking, such as inositol, clomipramine, doxepin, inositol, lamotrigine, olanzapine, naltrexone and riluzole. In addition, the study suggested that the prescription medication worked best if combined with cognitive-behavioral therapy. Read more: http://www.livestrong.

Avatar n tn Combining fluoxetine or paroxetine with phenytoin can also lead to increased phenytoin side effects and reduce blood levels of paroxetine. You really need to discuss the potential drug interactions with your own doctor.
Avatar f tn I have a diagnosis of OCD due to a history of obsessions, and countinual counting in my head, and touching things. Mostly my OCD is 'internal', so people don't notice unless I'm somewhere that makes me very anxious. However, the numbers/counting/touching are now 'externalising' more, and people are noticing. I feel I need to touch and count my elbows a lot, and sometimes have massive urges to touch other peoples (which i try my best not to do unless I know them very well!
Avatar f tn Has anyone been perscribed Paroxetine for their neuropothy symptoms? I saw my physiatrist last week for the increasing pain I am having related to my syrinx. He advised me to check back in with my NS, and gave me a script for Cymbalta. Apparently, this anti-depressant also works on nerves. I'm definitely not a depressed person - so I had my reservations for Cymbalta, but the pharmacist re-assured me that my dr prescribed it for neuro issues.
1326416 tn?1370927001 After six weeks, symptoms of depression decreased 57% in the group taking hyperforin-rich Hypericum and only 45% in the group taking paroxetine. Patients taking Hypericum were 42% less likely than patients taking paroxetine to experience negative side effects. The researchers concluded that, "In the treatment of moderate to severe major depression, Hypericum extract... is at least as effective as paroxetine and is better tolerated.
Avatar f tn Ive been switched from Paroxetine to Zoloft as am looking to try for a baby and this is supposed to be 'safer'. My doctor has changed me over gradually. I took Paroxetine 20mg for 2 weeks plus Sertraline/Zoloft 50mg, then went to Paroxetine 10mg and Sertraline/Zoloft 50mg and 5 days ago I've stopped Paroxetine altogether and am now just on Zoloft 50mg...I've went to the doctors yesterday because I feel terrible terrible - headaches, feeling incredibly depressed and crazy!

Avatar f tn My wife had BC, she has already had the chemo and surgery and is now on the part of the treatment focused on preventing recurrence (herceptin and tamoxifen). She had been taking paroxetine for the last two years. Now she started to see the psychiatrist at the cancer centre (the one who routinely sees cancer patients) and the dr advised her to change the paroxetine for another antidepressant.
Avatar f tn Hi, I just need a bit of advice. My meds are 30mgs Remeron, 30mgs Paroxetine 150mgs WellbutrinSR and 300mgs Lithium. The Wellbutrin and the Lithium are 3x daily. My question is how can I get over the severe fatigue I experience one to two hours after taking the morning dose? I'm open to all suggestions. Right now in my armory is gum, small pieces of dark chocolate and laying down for about 5minutes-cuz I'm restless and need to get things done.
Avatar f tn I had a severe allergic reaction to Citalapram and was taken off and had to wait for my appointment with the psychiatrist which was a week and a half ago. He perscription for Buspirone and Paroxetine. I didn't start taking the medicine right off the bat because of fear that i was going to have another bad reaction and ended up having another attack last night. I started taking the Buspirone this afternoon and was wondering how i should take it and the Paroxetine.
Avatar f tn Hello, i am 32 year old female and i'm in a relationship for the past 1,5 year with a person that has ocd and anxiety. But ocd does not interfere with his daily life, since it's limited to only a few things. And anxiety was in control up until the past few months. Since November, he had a chest mri, brain mri, ultrasounds and so many more. And now he believes he has a heart condition, though he already had 2 echocardiograms and probably he is dying.
Avatar n tn But problem got worse when I moved to Europe may be because I was alone here. My OCD got worse and I visited one of the neurologist here who gave me paroxetine which I took for one month one tablet a day. It did not improve my condition, just made me feel not good which made me to stop taking tablet.
