Avatar n tn I am on 20mg paroxetine at the moment i have been on it for 7 years, I was off it for 6 months and after 3 months of that time i went straight back into severe health anxiety. I was trying for a bay, that's why i came off. I know i will want to try again in the future can anyone tell me if they have had babies on anti depressants ? what type as mine is an ssri and works perfectly! was their baby healthy also did you need to go for extra scans and check ups.
Avatar f tn If you think medication is necessary, Lexapro (a newer version of citalopram) and Prozac are supposedly the easiest to take. Prozac is the easiest to stop taking, but can be stimulating so isn't necessarily the best for anxiety, but if it works, it is, again, probably the safest and is usually where psychiatrists used to start if you got to the ssri class of meds. Lexapro is usually second.
Avatar m tn I have been on Paroxetine for 10 years on and off and whenever I have a question about any medications that I can safely take I call the pharmacist and they are good about answering my guestions.Good luck!!
Avatar n tn m going through hell with withdrawals. I weigh 105 lbs, and would like to start taking Lexapro. How many mg should I start with? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Zoloft (sertraline),, Celexa (Citalopram), and Lexapro (Escitalopram). Stay away from Paxil (Paroxetine) as that treatment has as much or more sweating than Prozac. Hope this helps...
Avatar n tn ll see new warnings not to combine tamoxifen with certain SSRIs..paroxetine, fluoxetine, and sertraline. .... Women have a higher risk of breast cancer recurrence if they take tamoxifen along with paroxetine, fluoxetine, or sertraline... but NOT citalopram, escitalopram, or fluvoxamine. .....About 30% of women on tamoxifen also take an SSRI for depression or hot flashes. FDA will add new warnings..
Avatar f tn A question -- were you on the Lexapro and Celexa for a long time, and did you taper off slowly or did you stop cold turkey and switch to the Zoloft? Because if you did the latter, you could be suffering withdrawal from the old drugs and that will make it hard to determine if it's a side effect of the Zoloft or a withdrawal effect. Switching to another drug even in the same category will not be equivalent, as they target different receptors and don't work the same.

Avatar n tn Combining fluoxetine or paroxetine with phenytoin can also lead to increased phenytoin side effects and reduce blood levels of paroxetine. You really need to discuss the potential drug interactions with your own doctor.
Avatar m tn So I have been taking Paroxetine(Paxil) for 4 months now and it changed my life, took away my O.C.D. and my social anxiety. But i had side effects so i started taking Bupropion(wellbutrin) So after 1 days dose which was 1 pill twice a day, I had my O.C.D. back about half as bad and my social axiety came back about half as bad. So i stopped taking the Bupropion and i am still taking the Paroxetine but it's not working as well as it did before.
Avatar n tn I have been on the pill form of Paroxetine for over 10 years now and would like to wean off slowly 2-4mgs. at a time using the liquid form. Is it safe? I read in a book on how to get off Paxil that one should not switch. What could be the cons to switching to the liquid form?
Avatar f tn Has anyone been perscribed Paroxetine for their neuropothy symptoms? I saw my physiatrist last week for the increasing pain I am having related to my syrinx. He advised me to check back in with my NS, and gave me a script for Cymbalta. Apparently, this anti-depressant also works on nerves. I'm definitely not a depressed person - so I had my reservations for Cymbalta, but the pharmacist re-assured me that my dr prescribed it for neuro issues.
1326416 tn?1370927001 After six weeks, symptoms of depression decreased 57% in the group taking hyperforin-rich Hypericum and only 45% in the group taking paroxetine. Patients taking Hypericum were 42% less likely than patients taking paroxetine to experience negative side effects. The researchers concluded that, "In the treatment of moderate to severe major depression, Hypericum extract... is at least as effective as paroxetine and is better tolerated.
Avatar f tn Ive been switched from Paroxetine to Zoloft as am looking to try for a baby and this is supposed to be 'safer'. My doctor has changed me over gradually. I took Paroxetine 20mg for 2 weeks plus Sertraline/Zoloft 50mg, then went to Paroxetine 10mg and Sertraline/Zoloft 50mg and 5 days ago I've stopped Paroxetine altogether and am now just on Zoloft 50mg...I've went to the doctors yesterday because I feel terrible terrible - headaches, feeling incredibly depressed and crazy!
Avatar n tn Unfortunately my experience with paxil/seroxat/paroxetine was really bad. It took quite a while for withdrawal. The reason i tried it, is that i read that it goes well with lamictal. my pdoc was a fool i suppose, i tried many pdocs at the time, and since i tried lexapro/escitalopram/cipralex and drove me manic after 2 months I switched to paxil to realise that it's stronger. they say the strongest is effexor. I suppose all SSRI aren't suitable for BP.
1033596 tn?1252519593 I don't want to play doctor here or anything, but I was in a similar situation for several years. My apartment got broken into, then I moved home, and then my house literally got hit by lightening. I started taking lexapro for the Post-Traumatic Stress. I'd always been a bit of a snacker and stress-eater, but I a burdensome amount of weight from it. I asked my doctor about other alternatives to the Lexapro, and she suggested Welbutrin.

Avatar f tn My wife had BC, she has already had the chemo and surgery and is now on the part of the treatment focused on preventing recurrence (herceptin and tamoxifen). She had been taking paroxetine for the last two years. Now she started to see the psychiatrist at the cancer centre (the one who routinely sees cancer patients) and the dr advised her to change the paroxetine for another antidepressant.
Avatar f tn Hi, I just need a bit of advice. My meds are 30mgs Remeron, 30mgs Paroxetine 150mgs WellbutrinSR and 300mgs Lithium. The Wellbutrin and the Lithium are 3x daily. My question is how can I get over the severe fatigue I experience one to two hours after taking the morning dose? I'm open to all suggestions. Right now in my armory is gum, small pieces of dark chocolate and laying down for about 5minutes-cuz I'm restless and need to get things done.
Avatar f tn I had a severe allergic reaction to Citalapram and was taken off and had to wait for my appointment with the psychiatrist which was a week and a half ago. He perscription for Buspirone and Paroxetine. I didn't start taking the medicine right off the bat because of fear that i was going to have another bad reaction and ended up having another attack last night. I started taking the Buspirone this afternoon and was wondering how i should take it and the Paroxetine.
Avatar n tn My name is Amy and I'm 26 yrs old. I am trying to concieve and I'm presently not on any medications, however I used to take Lexapro and it works the best for me. I feel as though I'm in great need to be on it again but I am aware that the drug falls under a catagory C (to not take when pregnant) I dont want to put myself at harm so I need to know what anti- depresent to take that would not cause any birth defects or harm to the unborn child.
