i am 38 years old now , i developed gerd in my twenties
i have been on ppi for like 10 years and they completely controlled my symptoms all this period
i was on pantoprazole 40 mg daily and every time i try to dc for a month or two the gerd settles in and heart burn starts in episodes about 2-4 times daily
so i eventually returned to ppi , every while i try to lower the dose to 20 mg for a period till i get the feeling of a slight discomfort so i return to the 40 mg dose again

I am being weaned from pantoprazole with ranitidine. It seems that now that we have reached the pantoprazole every third day stage, I am getting weekly bouts of diarrhea, especially if I drink more than one cup of coffee. Is this a side effect? The diarrhea wakes me at night.
I have been waking up at 6am every morning for the past two weeks feeling so nauseous that I throw up this yellow liquid. I barely get any sleep anymore. I'm a college student and it is affecting my performance in school. . It usually lasts from around 6am to mid afternoon and then I don't feel nauseated anymore. I think that it might be stress related. Do you have any idea what is wrong with me?
Doctors prescribed to many antibiotics which led to my acid reflux. Got on pantoprazole for the reflux, it’s been working great but in the last week I’ve had this pins and needles sensation in my legs feel nauseous and I can’t seem to shake that somethings wrong with me. I’m in constant fear. I don’t know if the pantoprazole is giving me the tingling feeling because I’m not on anything else?
Is it your lymphnodes? Just regular throat? I've had an endoscopy done.. I've had nausea for a very long time, and I didn't have any issues. They do have a spray they can use, though. I didn't ask for it, but if you're worried, do so, or try to let the doctor know beforehand.

i was feeling ok for a few months then suddenly i developed nausea a week ago and the doctor prescibed tinidizole with acidity tablets. i took for 3 days along with my homeopathy medicine but i still feel heaviness in my head when i lie down so im not able to sleep. kindly advice me what to do.
I should also mention that I had a clear colonoscopy which is great. However, the pain never really seemed to be lower- it's between my navel and rib cage often radiating to my back. The diarrhea is sticky and either black or grey and it burns. I tested negative for occult blood. Rarely with the dry heaving fits do I vomit, but when I do it is dark purple or greyish.
I just had a pneumonia almost 2 months ago and i had ulcer last November but already been cured by pantoprazole domperidone. Now i feel like my ulcer reoccured again coz im having heartburn,stomach pain and bloating
and nauseous. My question is can i take pantoprazole again even though i just had pneumonia and still having shortness of breath and chest pain? Pls help coz i dont know what really is the cause of my difficulty in breathing is it from having pneumonia or my ulcer.
I have been on pantoprazole for only 8 days and have developed very sore lower back pain as well as pain in my legs. Anyone else having the same problems on this med. I am going to stop this med and go onto Zantac 150 and see if this is the problem. I am active and never had site back like this.
Welcome to the gastroenterology community! From your profile I see that you are a teenager and I assume you live in the US. I would guess that this is anxiety, which I see that you also have from your profile. Pantoprazole (Protonix) is only by perscription and treats GERD which I don't think you have and Domperidone is not FDA approved in the US so I would not recommend either of these suggestion.
Hello, this will be a long one because I want to provide any info that may be important. I’m a 24 year old female, have been healthy all my life, delivered a healthy baby in January 2018, then became pregnant in 2020 again. During this pregnancy, I ate a lot, gained 70lbs which brought me to 219lbs and I’m 5’7. During the labor and delivery, I had a placental abruption, lost a good amount of blood but overall was fine and delivered a healthy baby.
You will need to change a couple of medications or take a combination of medications like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into seriously by special tests for this and a combination antibiotic tried.
Life style changes include: Avoid heavy meals and eat frequent small meals.
I have have had severe GERD for almost 22 years--my surgeon tried to tell me I needed surgery 16 years ago. I was being treated with a PPI and still having breakthrough symptoms. When things would get better, I would quit taking the meds---i really fought taking them. My surgeon told me it was just a matter of time and I would have to have the surgery.
I have had to have my esophagus dilated 4 times now, 3 of them have been the last 3 years in a row.
Then I started having stomach pains and I was put on the antacid pantoprazole and a stool softener for constipation. After about a month and a half I was feeling so good I stopped taking the pantoprazole after consulting with my doctor. A week later I was having bad GERD and went back on it. I still don't know what initially caused the bloating, why it ramped up to GERD so quickly off the medication, and how damaged my LES is now.
The even after eating stomach-friendly food it got worse, especially in cold temperatures. When I went to urgent care I got omeprazole for acid int my stomach. This diagnosis was just based on the explanation of my symptoms. I got severe muscle cramps as side effects from that and went back to the urgent care and they gave me zantac instead. Still the same dosis of 2 /day. It all started end of June 2015.
Hi, pretty well everything you wrote rings a bell, I have been on Pantoprazole sold under Protium Brand in the UK for 12 years despite the fact that most leaflets state 8 weeks max and not tested for long term use, I also use lots of Gaviscon. I do have a confirmed Hiatal Hernia which produces acid reflux sometimes during the daytime and almost always if I nap during the day whilst sitting up.
Had endoscopy week ago. Still have nausea. Taking Pantoprazole for week. All tests/biopsy negative. Thanks.
