I am so sorry ur pain is increasing as well as ur anxiety and depression...yes there is a link btwn chiari and anxiety and depression...Chiari affects the brain stem which is the control center for all functions of our body both physical and emotional...so it is not a stretch to see that it could cause us to feel like this. Many have crying jags....and get overly emotional ...like with Hallmark commercials...

Do anxiety and depression go hand in hand? I have bad anxiety, but other days it feels more like depression. the feeling of not being in reality or not being myself gets strong sometimes, but that could be either. I just wondered if maybe my anxiety was causing depression...or maybe i have depression causing anxiety..?

After many years of not really looking after myself, I have finally realized I have to give up drinking and cigarettes for good if I really want to beat anxiety and depression. I hope you feel better soon.

Unrelieved panic or severe anxiety will leave you feeling depressed. I had a psychiatrist who told me anxiety comes first, then depression. So it is a domino effect, in my non-medical opinion. You are probably still living at home. The best advice I can offer is to have your parents take you to a psychiatrist or therapist for an evaluation. Since you use the words 'panic attacks', I'm assuming you may have already seen a professional. Also that this has been going on for awhile.

Hello, I was diagnosed with a Pituitary tumor about 18 years ago. I started suffering with anxiety and depression at age18. I had the signs back then but wasn't diagnosed for 10 more years. I was given dostinex which I took till 5 years ago. I'm 46 now. At this time I was also on a anxiety med and had no anxiety that I can recall. I quit taking the dostinex as I said 5 years ago and have been suffering ever since.

In my experience, anxiety and depression can go hand in hand. Sometimes, it can be like the chicken and the egg in my opinion and sometimes I wondered what came first, but I believe my anxiety led to my depression. Are you still seeing your psychologist? I know for me it was extremely important to continue through therapy during the good and the bad days. You will get through this. Keep us posted!

Is it true that we can have anxiety and depression at the same time? Sometimes I feel like I have both. I need to be on medication for this. I am already on a moodstablizer (abilify). What do you guys think?

I've run a float center for three years; we float a dozen people every single day. I've only ever had one person experience a panic attack from claustrophobia (something he was completely unaware of until getting in), and very, very few experience "hallucinations". Don't believe everything you see in TV shows, and I would encourage you not to speak as if expert about something you have no personal experience with.

Lexapro isnt fast acting for panic attacks like xanax is, but can be taken long term for anxiety and depression and is not addicting. I just started it myself because my anxiety is starting to effect my ability to go to work. It's worth a try! Feel better and hang in there!

I am currently taking 60 mg. of Cymbalta (morning) and 2 grams of Xanax (morning & bedtime) per day. How can I wean off of these drugs and get help with my depression and panic/anxiety? I feel like I am losing my mind and life is passing me by. I don't want to go anywhere, socialize, or even visit with family due to the weight loss. I feel like these drugs have caused the weight gain over the years and I can't lose weight even with diet and exercise.

i was watching an interesting tv program on alchol binge drinking how it leads to panic attacks, depression all that so i figured whats the difference if opiods are CNS depressents too couldnt that be a cause to panic attacks and depression ? I think the majority of my dep comes from methadone itself i noticed since i have gone back up im not excately bursting with energy, but yet lower doses i feel my dep is better but my anxiety is up cant win i guess lol..

Has anyone ever taken Tofranil PM or Anafranil for anxiety / panic and it worked my dr just told me start lowering my dose of prozac since its not doing anything and when i see her in 2 weeks we are going to discuss other options and other classes of meds like TCA 's SNRI's ect since SSRI's arent doing anything. I was on Tofranil before for post partum depression and anxiety panic and it worked great.

Hey all! I'm newly pregnant 6 weeks. My question is, do any of yu suffer from panic attacks? I have panic disorder and have noticed an increase with panic attacks and depression. I'm worried. Anyone else go through this? Any one else go through this.?

I have to say that I do feel better. I read on webmd that anxiety, nervousness, and depression are all side effects of this medication. Is it possible that this med lead to my panic attacks?? I never had one until I started on this med. Thanks so much!!

so you get more sensations that are new (from anxiety) and you freak out which causes you to have another panic attack and more symptoms..so you repeat the earlier worry cycle..which peats the second cyle of panic attack/symptoms..then you add in doctor visits because you're "sure" something has to be wrong..then meds with side effects that will freak you out equally..and there you have a recipe for months or years of being crippled with panic.

It is very important for her to see a doctor for this. My daughter is taking a low dosage of prosac at night to help with her anxiety and depression which helps but talking about everything that is going on is very important too. She needs a large cheer squad to get her through this time. I have found that my daughter's blood sugars will rise before school without her even realizing what is going on.

After couple months, instead of clonopin I was put on xanax and i had to take it everytime I felt anxious. I was never a big fan of meds and even though they helped somewhat with anxiety and panic I still felt anxious at times and not myself. I dont wanna go out anymore and I dont want to do things that I used to do. I stopped taking my meds in May, the withdrawals were pretty bad, but the anxiety was even worse.

Thanks for the input, I was on prozac last spring, and had an awful reaction, it took a few doses of xanex and ativan to get me out of it, after hours in the ER.. I suffer with anxiety and panic attacks and have for over 20 years. I was on ZOloft for 14 or so years and it pooped out on me the fall of 2013 and ever since looking for the same wonder drug zoloft gave me...

The last four days I have had panic attacks and have had depression. I had this before pregnancy but I was on medication I got taken off but now it's coming back.

I suffer from anxiety and depression. More anxiety then depression (I think), I've had it all of my life and I could always pretty much control it,up till about 12 years a ago. I've seen countless drs and therapist and have not gotten much help. I have uncontrollable feelings of panic,fear,and excessive worry ALL the time. I also have no energy,not even to shower or do "everyday" things that normal people don't even think about.
