Avatar n tn Dr put her on clavamox, tramadol, metronidazole, and famotidine. Her other test came back that she had pancreatitis. Dr said very bland diet. We even stopped giving her samples of what we were eating. A week later her blood work showed that her levels came down a lot. So we thought it was her diet. Her 3rd test thelevels went back up again. The only thing different from 2nd and 3rd blood test was that she was no longer on clavaox. She is active her stools are good, and she has a good apatite.
Avatar n tn Per my doctors advise, I have begun taking the Centrum Silver vitamin daily along with 800 mg Vit E, 100 mcg Silenium, 100 mg Zinc, and 1000 mcg of B12. The thinning may have slowed some but is still occurring. The texture has improved some. Will this thinning continue throughout the duration of the treatment? I will be bald before long! Will the hair return the same color and texture? Any ideas? Is there a chance for damage to my pancreas?
Avatar n tn lipase was 75 out of a high 59 range Amylase was also marginal. He said he thought it was pancreatitis. I had a CT scan that was normal. Later levels came back down to normal ranges. I quit drinking and about 4 months later I had problems again. The pains became quick, sharp pains in upper left abdomen actually in the lower rib cage area. Bothersome but nothing major. Levels were checked and again they were a little high.
Avatar n tn Dear Chad, In the United States, alcohol is a very frequent cause of pancreatitis. The alcohol alters the secretion of pancreatic juice which results in the inflammation recognized as pancreatitis. Unfortunately, there is no amount of alcohol that I can tell you is safe, i.e. will not cause subsequent attacks of pancreatitis. We know that there is individual sensitivity. This means that an amount of alcohol that may not cause me problems may cause you to have severe pancreatitis.

1916673 tn?1420236870 Increased results suggest liver damage, severe shock, toxin ingestion, Cushing's disease, acute or chronic hepatitis and/or pancreatitis among other secondary and primary conditions. Lowered results are rare, but more common during Cephalosporin treatment using certain medicines that kill bacteria or prevent their growth. Lowered results are also indicative of increased blood lactate, which interferes with the blood test enzyme reaction when measuring.
Avatar n tn A diet high in copper can cause high copper and low zinc which can cause all sorts of issues. It's good to get your zinc, copper, and zinc/copper balance checked first. Vitamin D3 and magnesium are also really important. They are extremely common deficiencies even in developed countries. Some countries even add magnesium to the tap water. Have you been checked for SIBO? It requires a hydrogen/methane breath test. It can cause bloating, belching, bad gas, etc.

Avatar n tn Malabsorption may be due to nonindaquate production of bile (liver disease but not likely in your case, I'd say), insufficient delivery of the bile into intestine (bile duct issues - what you have), pancreatitis (you may have recurring attacks of pancreatitis) or small intestinal disease. CRP and other inflammatory markers speak for inflammation - either in the biliary system, liver or anywhere..so it is not likely that you have only some "functional disorder" of gallbladder.
Avatar f tn Also, In 2005 everything changed and I became ill with what was then diagnosed as Pancreatitis. I do not drink any alcohol and my gallbladder ( healthy) was removed. Flare-ups have persisted and in April 2007 I became even sicker, which is why I am writing in. I have been to so many doctors and no one is able to diagnose me. The Pancreatitis is very painful. but I can live with it.
889293 tn?1241088724 Taking folic acid can also mask a vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin C, zinc, vitamin B12 and folate are co factors for iron absorption. Vitamin B12 deficiency is found in cerbrospinal fluid at 550pg/mL. Japan and various countries in Europe have increased the vitamin B12 serum range to a minimum of 550pg/mL. Vitamin B12 serum is also inactive B12 therefore not accurate. Your body stores will be lower than what is on paper. Optimal B12 serum levels are over 800pg/mL.

374933 tn?1291085384 Did that for 9 months....then once per month for 5 months and now 3-4 times per year. With the two, it's hard to figure out which one is doing what to me. I found this forum and doing my own research and keeping my own records. I love my Dr.s but I'm the one responsible for me!
Avatar n tn I've also had many other nutrient deficiencies including vitamin D deficiency (12ng/ml) and zinc deficiency (showed up with zinc sulphate taste test). My vitamin D deficiency symptoms included bone pain and a very poor immune system (studies show vitamin D activates T cells to kill off bacteria and viruses) - bronchitis for three weeks, strep throat for a month, strep throat again for over two weeks, and a cold...in 5 months.
Avatar n tn Every time I am in the sun, I get a lot of little red bumps on my forearms, and forehead, and my nose becomes one big bubble-even with zinc oxide. also, I find it hard to take any medication for fear that it will bring on an attack-several meds have before. Other triggers Ive identified are alcohol, smoke, not eating, birth control pills, being ill, and some pain meds. So i pretty much try to stay away from a lot of things and it has helped, but i still get them occasionally.
251667 tn?1189759431 Doctors said that if I would have waited a few more hours to go to the hospital that my body would have gone into shock and I would have died. They are pretty sure the pancreatitis was from my alcoholism. Well, after that obviously I stopped drinking. I had no choice. You think that would have been enough for me to never use anything again!!!! I have been heavy on vicodin for over 2 years. It went from taking 1/2 a day to 1 a day to 1 1/2 a day to 2 and so on and so forth.

Avatar n tn If it's within the range then you need to get an abdominal CT to check for any liver inflammation. Your GB was the cause of the pancreatitis the last time... It would be safe to check the GB too. If the pain radiates to the back then it most probably is related to the liver but do not get too stressed out cuz' the stress itself would cause an increased bout of pain.

Avatar n tn i have been clean five months the 24th of this month. after i OD'd in december i ended up in the hospital for 3 weeks with pancreatitis. gave me alot of time to think about things. withdrawls suck ass... they do, there is no changing that. but there really isn't any other way to get clean without going through the agony of withdrawl. i have seen something called the "thomas recipe" on this board and it really seems like a god/dess send.
