pancreatitis

Avatar f tn Never properly diagnosed, I was prescribed Benadryl and Zantac based on the assumption that the swelling was due to an allergic reaction to Aleve. This drug combination reduced the swelling only slightly, so I went back to E.R. and was then given Prednisone, my swelling disappeared. Then in mid November I had food poisoning from my local Whole Foods market...the bloating in my stomach returned (looking 5 mo.
Avatar n tn Has anyone ever had pancreatitis? I am wondering if I this is what is causing my left side pain under my rib cage. This appears at any time of day or night and lasts several hours. The pain feels like I have been running and got a side ache almost under my breast. My doctor has not suggested this, he is trying to ignore my symptoms for some reason. He found a small liver cyst, 2 weeks ago and then sent me for blood work.
Avatar n tn Dogs who are susceptible to pancreatitis should be on life long probiotics, Tagamet or Zantac and other GI protectants.
Avatar n tn Take 150mg Zantac daily. Anything stronger liks PPI's etc. actually gives me severe reflux, assuming it is digestive enzyme reflux however. Can no longer take digestive enzymes or even simple things like multi vitamins as it brings on very bad abdominal pain. Conclusion: When I sit it feels like my blood supply to my abdomen or something is being restricted somehow. This has caused many chronic complications. Doctors have no answers for me. Does this sound familiar to anyone??
Avatar n tn We have a six year old boy who has had pancreatitis for over five weeks now. His Lipase has been sitting at 3500 for the last 10 days(we have had numbers over 6500) and his amylase has been around 650 (we have has numbers over 1000). He has had an ultrasound, MRCP and a CAT scan and so far we have only come up with sludging in the gallbladder. We have been draining his stomach thru a N/G tube for 3 weeks, he has been NPO for the last 6 weeks.
Avatar n tn I recently was treated for acute pancreatitis. Could any of the medications that I am taking be a cause of it? They are: Remeron, Clonazepam, Levoxyl, Westhroid, T-3 S/R, Estradiol, Gabitril, Mestinon, Valtrex, Plavix, Zanaflex, DHEA, Oxycontin, Amoxicillin, Progesterone, Provigil. I have Lyme Disease (Babesiosis) and also have been diagnosed with: HSV-1, HSV-2, CMV, HHV-6, HHV-7, HHV-8, Rubella, Toxoplasmosis, Campylobactor Jejuni, Candida Albicans, Bartonella Henselae, Bartonella Quintana.
Avatar n tn However I have still had cramping upper belly at times. Antacides like Zantac or Prilosec seemed to help. ONe year ago, I had, in addition, a tiny jab in my left side, middle of the left side. It was tiny but noticeable. I mentioned it to my doctor ( whom I have since dumped) and his PA said "Oh, that's where your stomach is so you'd be having pain there too." It seemed odd but I had been sick of worrying about myself, so I let it go.
Avatar n tn Absolutely, Zantac is more for acid reflux right? Probiotics are great for putting healthy bacteria into your digestive system. VSL#3 is By prescription, but works great.
Avatar f tn The past 2 years have been awful for me. Am dealing with autoimmune pancreatitis and liver inflammation; which have been treated with prednisone. now I am dealing with esophageal spasms. full blown pain, nausea, arms and hands numb, cold sweats and fear. after two trips to the ER, i treated the one i had this morning with two quick swallows of mylanta. this worked in 20 minutes, but what else might work for stopping or preventing these attacks??
Avatar f tn My dog is usually lively even at 12yrs. 4wks ago he appeared v lethargic, sleeping more &disinterested. His appetite has increased dramatically- eating a bland diet but he's not putting weight on. To me he looks like he's loosing weight. His bowel habits are normal and formed and he is passing urine. He often looks spaced out & just stares into space. The vet gave him zantac for an upset tummy and had ruled cushings addisons and pancreatitis. They have no idea what's going on.
Avatar f tn i am scared this might be serious i have gallstones and latley i havent been feeling well like 3 days ago i had diarrhea and was vommiting that has stopped but my stomach hurts a lil and it is tender and i have been getting these chest pains so bad and i have been having trouble breathing can this be from pancreatitis or from my gallsones i get scared that its pancreatitis and i read that it could be dangerous when you have that
Avatar n tn Pylori, misdiagnosed with Celiac (pathology was incorrectly interpreted first time), had a CAT scan that was normal, and currently take Zantac, Bentyl, and oral contraceptive. I am wondering if my pain is heart related, or if I should worry about pancreatitis, liver, or spleen issues? Is is possible this is all related to IBS? I have not been diagnosed as of yet, but this is new pain, and I don't know if it is all related or not.
Avatar n tn I took my dog to a vet and they said it could be a upset stomach from feeding human snacks and gave zantac. Could this be it or something else. Could some one help me?
Avatar f tn if i bend over I feel like it's knawing at me, if I slouch it feels extremely uncomfortable and if i am just standing or sitting straight i can feel its presence there, like a lump or something. I took some zantac on the advise of a friend who is a nurse and my mother who is a nurse, but it just feels like it's getting worse. I'm at a loss for what to do.
Avatar n tn If you are not pregnant I would suggest you take some zantac that you can buy from any grocery or helath store and it works wonders for that.
Avatar n tn I am a 26 yr old female. Jan 2007 is when it all started. I found out I had pancreatitis, they check my chol. level/normal. Iwas told that I proably got pancreatitis from a virous. Then 2 wks later pain in the middle of my stomach started I thought I had pancreatitis again but my lipase count was normal. The stomach pain went on for months.
Avatar n tn lipase was 75 out of a high 59 range Amylase was also marginal. He said he thought it was pancreatitis. I had a CT scan that was normal. Later levels came back down to normal ranges. I quit drinking and about 4 months later I had problems again. The pains became quick, sharp pains in upper left abdomen actually in the lower rib cage area. Bothersome but nothing major. Levels were checked and again they were a little high.
Avatar n tn She prescribed anxiety medication and asked that I take over the counter strength Zantac. Still didn't seem to give much relief. So I had her perscribe prescription strength Zantac. It has provided some relief, but now I can't tell what's real pain and what's imagined or made worse by my anxiety about it. My doc informed me that it takes a good year before your body adjusts to the missing gallbladder...let's hope my mind can adjust. Anyone else feel the same thing?
Avatar m tn I know that you have gastritis from the EGD report that you brought in today. After reviewing your medication more closely, I see that the zantac and the PPIs ( omeprazole, nexium etc.) could potentially cause pancreatitis. I would like to see how you do while you are not on these medications. I have sent another medication to your Pharmacy. The medication is called carafate. I would like for you to stop the zantac and try this one instead at least until you see GI again.
Avatar n tn The amylase is increased in uncontrolled diabetes and pancreatitis. However in pancreatitis the level is increased four folds. In all probability you are suffering from gastric reflux or hiatal hernia. “GERD symptoms are often relieved by over-the-counter, acid-reducing agents called antacids.
Avatar m tn The doctors (at the very respected IUPUI SOD program in Indianapolis) insisted that these changes were not enough to suggest chronic pancreatitis, not enough to cause the pain I'm experiencing, and in fact were somewhat consist for a patient my age. They admitted the pain might be a result of SOD, particularly since the gallbladder surgery did not seem to help, but insisted I wasn't sick enough to undergo an ERCP to check the sphincter of oddi. (And I wasn't eager to have an ERCP.
Avatar m tn I have been taking buscapan which helps but Im still on Zantac which Im sure is giving me anxiety issues. Has anyone else had this problem. Please help.
Avatar m tn Zantac 150 two times a day, maybe even three, controls all acid reflux. I've been monitoring my urine, stool, Heartburn intensity, fever, heart rate, and blood pressure, and all are within normal metabolic lines, the exception being my triglycerides (250, which would explain the flare ups in thr gallbladder). Has anyone else here experienced these muscle spasms post-work out?
Avatar f tn Also its possible too have Chronic Pancreatitis and not have a raised Lipase level like with the Acute Pancreatitis. Has anyone checked it again? There is also a condition called Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction that causes symptoms like you have. You need an 'Endoscopic Ultra Sound' or was that what you had? An ordinary Endoscopy of the stomach duodenum, bowel, etc wont' show your Pancreas.
Avatar n tn Hi, Perhaps I can help you out. What you are seeing is called an OIL SLICK. I have pancreatitis and see this everyday. It means that your body is not absorbing enough nutrients from the foods you are eating. It also means that your body can not handle the fat you are consuming. I would advise you to call your doctor and ask for a FECAL FAT TEST. This will tell you exactly what your body is doing with the food, nutrients and fats.
Avatar n tn I have chronic pancreatitis and occipital neuralgia. My old Dr gave me a standing script for vicoprofen to take when I get a pancreatic attack(along with my everyday maintenance meds). He no longer takes my ins. and I'm having trouble finding a Dr who even understands pancreatitis will give me my script. How can I prove I"m not an addict looking for a fix?? My conditions are very well documented....and every Dr agrees that there isnt anything else that can be done.
Avatar n tn Scroll now to May 3rd and read the post pancreatitis, some very helpful info there from others that have had it. My pain sounds similar to yours.
Avatar n tn They thought there was a blockage in small intestine but CT scan did not show this or anything else. Was given pain med, zantac and antibiotics via IV bag but discharged with diagnosis of viral infection because they weren't able to make another diagnosis. Back pain is localized now on left side, have dizziness and weak. Could there be other reasons for these symptoms? Need to start feeling better. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Also, I was wondering if there happens to be any kind of over the counter medication that would alleviate my symptoms...zantac, for some reason, makes me extremely nauseated.
