Avatar n tn She does not drink - - however they assume she is lying about that because of the pancreatitis. Please explain to me the correlation between pregnancy, pancreatitis, and the addiction. She takes approximately 20-40 vicodin a day (or more)even during pregnancy. Knowing this can you explain how this medication can terminate a pregnancy and cause pancreatitis?
902019 tn?1249865014 I was diagnosed 2 years ago with AIP, have a 25 year history of autoimmune disorders (eosinophilic vasculitis, mild Sjogren's). Usually have done well with prednisone for the various flare-ups but with AIP, still recurring symptoms and the elevated IgG4 periodically. Next step may be Imuran. Is there anyone out there who has had good results with Imuran for autoimmune pancreatitis?
Avatar n tn The location of your pain sounds very much like where mine was located before my first attack of acute pancreatitis. I now have chronic pancreatitis. I also had the yellow stools, either fatty or so oily that they would float. Also had the weight loss and inability to eat. Back ache is also a common complaint, but not everyone gets it. You need a second opinion.
Avatar n tn I need to know the cause of acute pancreatitis, treatment, proper medications for this problem, and if there is any type of surgery that would prevent this. I do not have a stone, so that was ruled out. I am desperate! Recently, I had pancreatitis for the eleventh time in about six years. Each time it seems worse. Please help me. Thank you. Dear Charlotte, The most common causes of acute pancreatitis in the United States are alcoholic pancreatitis and gallstone pancreatitis.
Avatar n tn I clean the wound each day with dial anti-bacteria soap and dress the wound with 1% silver sulfadiazine cream. I've had no other complications related to my pregnancy. I will be forty years old September 6th and this is my first baby. The area is not going to be healed before my due date; therefore, unless surgery is performed I will still be taking the oxycodone when my baby is born.
877337 tn?1249848050 Then I was admitted in ER for pancreatitis then they said my levels of Hyperthyroid are went high which needed immediate treatment. Avatar n tn Since triglyceride levels increase during the normal pregnancy, I am worried about complications such as pancreatitis. There do not appear to be many studies relating to hyperlipidemia medications and their affect on the fetus. What are the risks? treatments? success rates?
Avatar n tn Gallstones and Pregnancy posted by Melanie on March 15, 1999 at 13:31:10: I had a gall bladder ultrasound because of problems with stomach pains. The radiologist found two large gallstones. I have not had a chance to talk with my doctor but the radiologist seemed to think that he would recommend removal of the gallbladder. My husband and I were planning on trying to get pregnant in the next two months. How will the gallstones affect my plans?
Avatar f tn Pain under the left shoulder blade is usually a referred pain from abdomen like stomach ulcers, acidity, pancreatitis, or ectopic pregnancy or from the chest like in heart attack, pericarditis, pleuritis, pneumonia, pulmonary embolus, and aortic dissection. Pain under right shoulder blade is usually due to gall stones, duodenal ulcer and liver infection. Hence an ultrasound, liver function test and an upper GI endoscopy is needed for diagnosis.

Avatar m tn What makes the pain worse? Pain due to inflammation (appendicitis, diverticulitis, cholecystitis, pancreatitis) typically is aggravated by sneezing, coughing or any jarring motion. Patients with inflammation as the cause of their pain prefer to lie still. Pain that is accompanied by heartburns or nausea is often due to dyspepsia or GERD.
Avatar n tn Depending on whether the pain is more on right side or left side, the other possibilities could be stomach ulcers, pancreatitis, or ectopic pregnancy (in females) or from the chest like in heart attack, pericarditis, pleuritis, pneumonia, pulmonary embolus, and aortic dissection, gall stones, duodenal ulcer and liver infection and subdiaphragmatic abscess. I know the list looks exhaustive and most of it you probably don’t have.
1640642 tn?1301332337 Another common reason is your thyroid or insulin levels are higher or lower than the range successful for sustained pregnancy. Another reason, much rarer, is that your body starts to produce antibodies because it believes there's an "imposter" cell that's trying to grow. I would suggest having some basic fertility tests performed by your doctor or obgyn. You're still very young, and there's probably an easy treatment for whatever the reason may be for continued m/c. Good luck!!
Avatar n tn I would also like information regarding the likelihood of pancreatitis during pregancy, as well as the treatment and risks associated with it. Are there any medications that are safe during pregnancy? My doctor has recommended plasmaphoresis in the event that my triglycerides increase to dangerous levels. What are your comments?
Avatar m tn This drug must not be used during pregnancy or by those who may become pregnant during treatment. Other more serious side effects include increased blood cholesterol, lipid, and triglyceride levels and abnormal liver enzymes. If you are unable to tolerate it or the symptoms are persistent contact a dermatologist. I hope it helps. Best luck and kind regards!

Avatar n tn Hi - I had an ERCP with Sphinterotomy on Wedensday. I spent the next two days in the hospital with Pancreatitis. Even though the procedure went "remarkably well", I ended up with the Pancreatitis. It was a good thing that they kept me overnight for observation because the Pancreatitis hit at 11pm. Boy what a gut wrenching pain that it. Anyway, the reason why I am writing is to suggest that you back off on your diet. I am currently on clear liquids.
Avatar f tn It is quite normal to have to increase thryoid meds by up to 40% (or even more for some women during pregnancy). With high TSH there is a risk of miscarriage, but hopefully all will be fine with the treatment that you will now start. When do you see your doctor again? Have you talked to him about this already? If you don't see him/her in the next couple of days, you need to contact your dr immediately for instructions and to start meds. Let us know how you go.
Avatar f tn Pain under the left shoulder blade is usually a referred pain from abdomen like stomach ulcers, acidity, pancreatitis, or ectopic pregnancy (unlikely) or from the chest like in heart attack, pericarditis, pleuritis, pneumonia, pulmonary embolus, and aortic dissection. Another possibility is ankylosing spondylitis. Back pain worse when sitting or lying down and feels better with movement is usually caused by ankylosing spondylitis. This is a genetic condition.
Avatar n tn Although there is no real good treatment to stop the pancreatitis (at least that my docs said-although if it's due to gallstones, etc, they can fix that--mine was just random apparently), at least they give you something to stop the vomiting and pain. Maybe one option to consider at least! Hope you're feeling better!!
Avatar f tn Endometriosis Pancreatitis Pregnancy Normal menstruation Pelvic inflammatory disease Also, some women with ovarian cancer never have an elevated CA 125 level. Because of these limitations, this test isn't useful as a routine screening for ovarian cancer. CA 125 readings are primarily used to assess how ovarian cancer is responding to treatment. In women receiving chemotherapy for ovarian cancer, a decreasing CA 125 level often indicates that the cancer is responding to treatment.
1057702 tn?1254285974 Upper right abdominal pain that is relieved by sipping milk (cold milk?) could be due to duodenal ulcer or peptic ulcer. Also pregnancy increases acidity and aggravates this problem. The treatment is to control the acidity by a combination of drugs and lifestyle changes. For treatment you would need to consult a specialist or a PCP. The life style changes you can make are: Avoid heavy meals.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed Hashimoto's in August, and since then have begun treatment. I am now on Synthroid 75 mcg and Cytomel 5 mcg. My nodules have shrunk to pencil points. My labs and symptoms show I'm still hypo. However, I have hyper symptoms (shaky hands, rapid heart beat, ear ringing) along with hypo (constipation, fatigue) during my monthly cycle. My monthly cycle is also painful and heavy. I have a specialty appointment tomorrow for an abnormal pap.

Avatar n tn Other common health conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, pancreatitis, hemolytic anemia and thyroid disease, can also cause liver transaminase elevations. Most liver diseases are characterized by greater ALT elevations than AST elevations except cirrohsis and alcohol abuse. ALT also rises in bile duct obstruction due to stone. Raised alkaline phosphatase (The normal range is 44 to 147 IU/L (international units per liter).is often found in a growing child and at puberty.
Avatar f tn Also, In 2005 everything changed and I became ill with what was then diagnosed as Pancreatitis. I do not drink any alcohol and my gallbladder ( healthy) was removed. Flare-ups have persisted and in April 2007 I became even sicker, which is why I am writing in. I have been to so many doctors and no one is able to diagnose me. The Pancreatitis is very painful. but I can live with it.
Avatar n tn A great number of problems comes as a consequence of not getting food, including liver issues. Treatment for that is super expensive! Good luck with your pregnancy. I am pregnant too. I know the stress involved when you are pregnant with a sick cat. And I know all about the budget issue with a baby coming along...............AND a sick cat. So good luck, and I will be keeping my fingers crossed so she can finally get better.

Avatar n tn The liver may develop active inflammation, which usually subsides with appropriate treatment of IBD. Serious disease involving the liver affects only about 5% of people with IBD. Low energy and fatigue tend to be the most common symptoms. Symptoms of more advanced liver disease include itching, jaundice, fluid retention, fatigue, and a feeling of fullness in the upper abdomen.
2218396 tn?1339502007 They did cpr, and used the defibrillator 4 times, plus blood transfusions. For some reason during my last pregnancy i started having occasional pvcs. From then until now they have become much worse, along with my heart rate and blood pressure. Through out the day I have pvcs every 3-6 heart beats. Not only that my BP fluctuates from low to high, as does my pulse.
