401095 tn?1351395370 Many patients and their doctors find that treatment for opioid dependence works best when medical treatment with Suboxone is combined with counseling. How Long Will I Stay on Suboxone? The length of therapy will depend on your needs, and is up to you, your doctor, and possibly your counselor. Some patients need Suboxone for as little as a few weeks, while others may need it for months or even years. Combining Suboxone treatment with counseling may increase your chances of success.
Avatar n tn If you don't drink, don't even think about starting. There is an overview of current HCV treatment protocol in this thread directed to G.W., scroll up to comment # C-7; it will give you an idea of what you might expect. Your doctor will probably take another blood test to verify whether you have active HCV, or HCV antibodies; that will tell you if you need to even consider treatment. From there, I'd expect the doc to refer you to a specialist, either a gastroenterologist or hepatologist.

Avatar m tn I believe you are only taking interferon & riba, correct? I am not sure how often periodically is but here is some info for you. If it is occurring more than once or twice I would suggest talking to your gastroenterologist. This is right up their alley, so to speak. Yes, I understand this could be embarrassing but you don't want to miss something that could be serious. Health becomes before pride.
Avatar n tn Now, I am having similar pain, almost like pancreatitis, it comes, gets better, then comes again. I can't get a diagnosis! The doctors think I am crazy - that is always encouraging. If it is my ducts, why do they keep shutting down?
Avatar n tn stones in the duct; a liver disorder; pancreatitis; gastritis and/or is the bile duct too close to the stomach and needs to be moved further down the small intestine? What tests should we request from a Doctor to find the cause/causes and move towards resolving his ill health?
Avatar f tn On 8/26 he had an ERCP with a stent put in, a biopsy for auto immune pancreatitis followed that evening with another attack. He came home with more pain and had another attack on 9/4. After the ERCP etc., the biopsy came back negative but he daily lives with pain now maybe due to the stent, is down fro 150 to 130, is now digesting food sometimes with Pangestyme EC before every meal or snack and has no energy.
Avatar f tn I'd suggest you look into the possibility of sphincter of Oddi dysfunction (SOD). The John Hopkins Digestive Disease online library has a good overview of the condition. The next time you get an attack, ask your doc to perform a liver and pancreatic enzyme level blood test within 24 hours of the attack. You want to see if the levels are elevated. If it is SOD it can be problematic in the long run. If the sphincter or the common bile duct spasms, it can retard the flow of bile.
Avatar f tn I've been taking 2-4mg of sublingual films a day,(suboxone) for over a year now. I've had liver tests before in treatment and they all came out normal. Recently, I had my annual exam. My doctor said I had "extremely high liver enzymes. I'm wondering if this issue is related to my suboxone use? I assumed I was taking a low dose? Could this issue be deadly?
Avatar f tn Addison's Disease, hypothyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, pancreatitis, food allergies, and possible vasculitis. My doctors assume all of these problems are autoimmune. However, I have tested negative for antibodies to EVERYTHING (thyroid, adrenals, celiac, myasthenia...etc etc etc). I do have an enlarged Thymus. Any ideas how this could happen (autoimmunity without any antibodies)? Of course I worry there's something else going on here, but my doctors seem so convinced...
2133558 tn?1368831758 I'll give you an overview instead of a line by line translation. You have very little inflammation and liver fibrosis. "Portal fibrosis" is equal to stage 1 liver disease. Portal fibrosis is when excess connective tissue forms within the portal tracts, which consequently become densely staining and expanded, but there is no extension into the adjacent parenchyma (Liver cells).
Avatar m tn Untreated, celiac disease can cause all kinds of problems, including trouble om tje absorbption of vitamins and minerals, and in precipitating other painful conditions, like pancreatitis and in the producfion of gall stones. When you ask "does anyone know what's causing this back pain?" are you referring to the "tickling pain" over your hip, the severe pain that made getting out of chairs difficult, sharp chest pain, stomach pain, or some other painful condition?

Avatar n tn At the end of treatment I had gallstone pancreatitis and had surgery for gallbladder removal and convinced my doctor to do a biopsy at that time. I had no liver damage! I probably would have died of something else before I died of liver problems. I get discouraged because I always seem to have some new physical problem since treatment. I have hypertension now. I am pre-diabetic. I have high cholesteral. Last week I was in the hospital for gastritis.

181575 tn?1250202386 I am reposting articles / summaries on the treatment management of chronic HepB. "cajim" located these articles which are quite informative. I thought about putting them on a seaprate Health Page but didn't think it was appropriate since we didn't write them. Let's make this a sort of "Unofficial Research Thread" or "URT" for this type of information. Let's keep this URT free of comments.
Avatar n tn All the physicians and experts that she met told her that it was impossible to be due to the Interferon treatment, but before the treatment, all went well. She is so exhausted that she can't fight no more against medical community in order to admit the origin of her symptoms and to push them to try to find a beginnning of solution. Is there any progress in the comprehension of the cause of these symptoms ?
Avatar n tn I am a 40 year old female who was diagnosed with four ruptured and/or herniated disks last year, but I received treatment for the problem and it's better. Yet here I am suddenly experiencing the buzzing sensation you all describe. I, too, felt crazy! I first thought it was the house, then I realized it was me. So it's nerves? The sensation is driving me bananas.
Avatar n tn I will try and give you a quick overview and some suggestions. First it is entirely possible to get afib via gas bloat and other stomach and digestive tract disorders. If your stomach and digestive tract is as described then you must have inflamation. All this inflamation and bloat and gas will push up on your diaphram and surrounding areas and cause great discomfort and pain but also can press upon nerves.
Avatar n tn Doctors have told me that I need no treatment and that Thallassemia has no symtpoms. I go to sleep tired and I wake up tired. I can be tired after 12 hours sleep! Can I be suffering symptoms from my thallassemia. Does any one else feel the same way that I do? This is a little bit hard for me, but I don't want to complain.
174267 tn?1220408828 My furbaby is doing ok - I had to take him yesterday for a plasma transfusion which is supposed to help the pancreatitis. He seems to be getting more energy back. I go back to the RE tomorrow so hopefully my lining is thinner and I can start the mock cycle. I really don't want to do the D&C. I told the acupuncturist to give me lots of herbs to make my lining thin! Take care all!!
