Avatar f tn My family physician discovered that I have Sjogren's Syndrome with fibromyalgia 7 months ago. Since that time I have been diagnised with chronic pancreatitis, gastroparesis and sarcoidosis. Is there a possibility that these diseases are related? She has attempted to treat the pancreatitis and the digestive issues but have yet to be treated in any way for the Sjogren's or the sarcoidosis. Is this proper protocol?
Avatar f tn hi, im a 20yr old female and i was diagnosed with pancreatitis and was hospitalized and placed on medicines that later on, had to stop taking due to some side effeccts, such as, unable to get up in the morning and nausea. while, as those problems persisted, i now have light headedness, shortness of breath, headaches, back pain, and gas/olive green stool. what could this mean?
Avatar n tn I hope to have got digestive correct, as I assume pancreatitis has to do with that. Vet called today, said Ozzie's level are over 1'000 on lipase count and that makes it sure it is pancreatitis, che chronic version. Having had a look at internet, none of the symptoms agree with what he does. He does not, vomit, reject food, loose stool....

Symptoms of acute pancreatitis: •Upper abdominal pain that radiates into the back. It may be aggravated by eating, especially foods high in fat. •Swollen and tender abdomen •Nausea and vomiting •Fever •Increased heart rate How Is Pancreatitis Diagnosed? Avatar n tn We took him to a specialist hospital where he had the same treatment in ICU as a human with pancreatitis. He had a central line placed in his neck so he didn't have to get stuck with needles all the time, and was put on TPN - nutrition given via IV. He also had a ton of pain meds - a 75 mcg fentanyl patch along with injections of dilaudid for breakthrough pain. At least I know he was as comfortable as humanly possible those last couple of weeks.
Avatar n tn The endoscopy found mild gastritis. All other test are normal. The pancreatic specialist did not mention pancreatitis at the time and only prescribed nexium and sulcrafate for the gastritis. I am 67, and never had a previous bout with pancreatitis. Moderate beer drinker. How should I be treated?
675347 tn?1365460645 Some dogs can overindulge for years and suddenly develop pancreatitis. Symptoms of pancreatitis are vomiting, inability to keep down water, lack of appetite, lethargy and fever as the condition worsens. Treatment is mainly inpatient supportive care. The dog must have complete digestive rest which means nothing - not even water - by mouth. An IV is necessary for fluids, antibiotics and eventually nutrition if the condition persists more than a week - which it easily can do.
Avatar m tn I just got diagnosed chronic pancreatitis and dont know what my options will be for treatment, so Im also looking for answers on what worked and what didnt, also for meds what helps the pain? Thanks in advance for your input. Avatar m tn There is a website with information on digestive and kidney diseases(and pancreatitis) that the National Institutes of Health sponsor. Perhaps you can find some helpful information. I take one Prilosec, 20 mg(prescribed); Prilosec ,10 mg is sold OTC at any pharmacy. Here is the website: http:digestive.niddk.gov. I do not know why, but the website takes you to Google that list the same URL. Click on the Heading, Digestive, and search.
1006041 tn?1250396768 This has been determined at two numerous hospital stays, infact, doctors didnt believe the previous diagnosis of an allergic reaction and gave me the meds to see for themselves. I have chronic pancreatitis and have gotten sick several times from high lipid count due to my cholesterol. I have a genetic dispositon for pancreatitis so I have had it numerous times from different causes.
Avatar m tn It could be something as simple as a pulled muscle that will heal itself in a couple of days as long as she takes it easy or it could be something as serious as pancreatitis, a VERY painful condition that causes dogs to yipe out at the slightest touch or even NO touch. Since Tony basically outlined what would be involved in the event of a musculo-skeletal injury, I will elaborate a bit on the pancreatitis so that you can see what you might be facing should that be the diagnosis.
509877 tn?1315361694 I have questions, my vet just diagnosed my shih tzu with pancreatitis. She ate some pork a couple of days ago and them started vomiting the yellow frothy stuff. They had to give her steroids to stop the vomiting, does this mean she will always have the pancreatitis? Or is this a one time thing? I know not to let her eat anything but her dog food diet but I am still worried... Any thoughts?
Avatar m tn Pancreatitis In addition to causing stomach irritation (gastritis), drinking can inflame the pancreas. Chronic pancreatitis interferes with the digestive process, causing severe abdominal pain and persistent diarrhea --and "it's not fixable," Saitz says. Some cases of chronic pancreatitis are triggered by gallstones, but up to 60% stem from alcohol consumption." (webmd.com) I think you need to see your doctor about this.

Avatar n tn I have had what my gastroenterologist calls mild pancreatitis several times in the last few years. What can I do to prevent the pancreatitis from re-occurring? Is there a specific diet? My doctor just says, "bed rest, lots of fluids, a light diet." I'm not sure what "a light diet" means. Since I already eat light (6 VERY small meals a day - due to my many intestinal surgeries), I don't know what more I can do.
Avatar n tn Having high pancreas enzymes means you have pancreatitis.....an inflammation of the pancreas which is usually caused by gallstones or by drinking too much alcohol. The pancreas secretes digestive enzymes into the small intestine. These enzymes help digest fats, proteins, and carbohydrates in food. Normally, digestive enzymes do not become active until they reach the small intestine, where they begin digesting food.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed yesterday in the ER. They found through an abdominal ultra sound the tail is enlarged. I have a family history of pancreatic cancer. They request I do further testing. Is pancreatitis something you can get rid of or is it something that kind of hangs around and "flares up"?

Avatar m tn This can happen as a result of diseases of pancreas that reduce delivery of digestive enzymes to the intestines, such as chronic pancreatitis (long standing inflammation and destruction of the pancreas usually due to alcohol abuse) or obstruction of the pancreatic duct that carries the enzymes to the intestines (most commonly due to pancreatic cancer).
Avatar m tn My daughter is 18yr old now. She has pancreatitis in the past but for about 7 times in the last 5 months she is been in an out of the hospital with acute pancreatitis. When pancreatitis occurs she always has a strong pain with elevated Amylase and Lipase levels suggesting a pancreatic dysfunction. Yesterday she woke up vomiting with just a litter abdominal discomfort. Blood work shows no significant levels of amylase or lipase.
Avatar f tn I do have chronic pancreatitis. I now use Creon with every meal/snack I eat to have the digestive enzymes to use the food I eat. I have no dietary restrictions other than to avoid foods that make me feel sick. I was tested for bacterial overgrowth, lactose/sugar/gluten intolerance and nothing rang any bells, plus a bunch of other nasty tests. Check with your doctor or primary about the route you need to take.
