Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis symptoms signs

pancreatitis

Avatar m tn No idea what it is, but it's most likely not pancreatitis. That's a very very painful disease, and you'd be at the ER no matter what getting opiates if you had that, again most likely. I assume when you say you stopped eating carbs, you meant stopped eating white flour. Whole grains are the staple of a healthy diet, and all the most healthful foods are carbs, such as veggies, fruits, etc.
Avatar f tn ve ever had is a (drum roll please)...................CRAMP????? Hahahahaha, dipshit! All my symptoms point to Pancreatitis. I am going to my regular GI Doc on Tues, excited to maybe get some answers. I also "googled" the results of my Transvaginal Ultrasound, ha! I seem to have a "Complex" cyst on my left ovary. Those are the kind that have to be evaluated right away and removed, they are not good!
Avatar f tn my dog has had pancreatitis 2 times he is 8 yrs old and he hasnt shown symptoms in 2 yrs. we got a kitten over the weekend and the dog ended up eating the cat food a couple of times. now he has diahrea and i have seen a couple blood drops by the poop. Is there something i can do for him other then take him to the vet. It is the same exact symtoms as last time so i really dont need to pay a couple hunred dollars for them to tell me what i already know.
Avatar f tn I have a history of acute recurrent Pancreatitis over 10years long, with dual Sphincterotomies done 9 months ago that also resulted in a retroperitoneal small bowel perforation and ongoing frequent attacks of acute Pancreatitis. My ampulla goes into a diverticulum in the small bowel. A Triple phase CT Scan done today shows air in the intrahepatic radicals, and in the bile duct, which is dilated to 8.8 mms. There is also air in the Pancreatic Duct which is mildly dilated in the head 4.
Avatar f tn She was diagnosed just over three weeks ago. We were shocked to hear this news because she just started showing signs of nausea about a week earlier (no other signs before). BUN 83, Creatinine 6.0, and Phosphorus 8.5 (her levels lowered after 48 hours of IV). She is anemic and has pancreatitis and a UTI as well. She has been struggling with loss of appetite (weight loss) and vomiting.
Avatar f tn It can trigger an attack of pancreatitis but is usually short lived. My mom has battled chronic pancreatitis (idopathic, non drinker) for over 4 years and is 30 days post whipple. Amylase and Lypase do not always show elevated levels even if having an attack. Get a good GI, one who specializes in diseases of the pancreas... not just a general GI. ERCP can show a lot, stents can be placed in ducts during procedure which can ease pain.
Avatar m tn However, I did a lot of research online about different conditions that match my symptoms, and all signs point to Irritable Bowel Syndrome because of my age (31), the gurgling sounds I get in my abdomen, lower abdominal cramping, the yellow watery stool, and I'm under stress at home and work recently. With all of the above in mind, and the research I've done, my questions are: 1) Could this yellow watery stool be from Cirhosis?
Avatar n tn ) How are his liver and pancreatic enzyme levels? Does he have any signs of pancreatitis? Is he supposed to be following any form of specialized diet? And more importantly, if they said he had sphincter of Oddi dysfunction, were pressure readings done when the ERCP was done? Were those readings elevated?
Avatar n tn a group of signs and symptoms that occur together and characterize a particular abnormality or condition 2 : a set of concurrent things (as emotions or actions) that usually form an identifiable pattern In any case, find a pancreatologist NOT just a gastroenterologist unless you have one that stays up-to-date with modern medicine!
Avatar n tn 2 weeks later was diagnosed with Evans Syndrome. She hospitalized. Showed signs of Vastibular, pancreatitis. She passed away yesterday. Prior to the vaccine a happy pup. Running and playing?
Avatar f tn Hi, understand your concern. With pancreatitis usually the lipase and amylase values are increased many folds. And if chronic the imaging studies will usually show pancreatic fibrosis. In the absence of these findings its unlikely that you have chronic pancreatitis. The other causes for the pain could be infections of the bowel and bladder, prolapsed intervertebral disc or inflammatory diseases of the colon. So, if your symptoms persist discuss these options with your doctor. Regards.
Avatar m tn A biopsy was carried and the results came that the biopsy did not show any signs of malignancy. However his CA19-9 was 1275. The diagnosis was chronic pancreatitis. He seemed to be recovering well until December of last year when he was admitted to hospital. He complained of abdominal pain and every time he ate, he started vomiting. He is still in hospital now. An ecography was carried out and the eco showed some nodules in the liver. The doctor is not sure whether it is cancerous or not.
Avatar f tn My chocolate lab "Skip" is about 10 years old and developed pancreatitis for the first time. We took him to the doctor he never vomited or diahrea until the day after he got to the vets office. His amalyse was high like 8000 and his glucose and white blood count low but we got an ultrasound to make sure not cancer. He started to show improvements with the IV and antibiotic. Now a week later he is starting to decline and the vet has tried everything.
Avatar m tn We and the doctors suspected gall bladder, but the tests showed no signs of stones and bloodwork no signs of elevated enzymes other than liver enzymes and bilirubin elevated on the second trip. The 3rd trip they did a CT scan and discovered he had pancreatitis, which I suspect was the case in the other visits. This was acute necrotizing pancreatitis with sepsis and organ failure. His gall bladder never did show stones except on one ultrasound weeks after he was admitted to the hospital.
Avatar m tn My cat was DX w pancreatitius & met all symptoms for a few weeks / the meds worked but it got bad. Then a big turn happened. He started eating & now won't stop! His constant meowing is driving me crazy.he lost weight whwhen really sick. He is still underweight but why does he demand food 24/7? I'm so stressed out I can't think straight. Upset too if his DX was wrong we spent so much $$ on labs/meds. Now I'm not sure/don't think he has it! Help.
Avatar n tn I have read that gallbladder surgery is dangerous in the presence of pancreatitis and that the pancreatitis can also cause gallbladder disease or vice versa. Anyone had similar question?
Avatar n tn My Beemer, 12 year old German Wirehaired Pointer, has been perfectly healthy and active until 10 days ago.. No one who meets Beemer can believe that she's 12..seriously..She's always been a fireball. 10 days ago, I came home from work and she wouldn't use one of her back legs...You could pull on it, bend it, put pressure on her hips and she didn't show any signs of pain...And yet she wouldn't use the leg..
Avatar f tn Usually pancreatitis can only be diagnosed with a combination of clinical signs such as vomiting, abdominal pain and fever along with a positive results for a specific blood test (probably the one your veterinarian had sent in), and confirmation with an abdominal ultrasound. In the meantime, you and your veterinarian should keep an open mind, and always ask the question, "What else can it be?", especially if your dog is not getting better.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the advice. Will look up info on that disease. No surgeries or maladies.

1727909 tn?1314845210 I'm having gallbladder pain and symptoms- has anyone gained weight after the surgery? And what is it about GB removal that makes you gain weight?
Avatar f tn Last year was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Am again suffering from similiar symptoms. Hospital told me not to eat till I saw family doctor. He told me not to eat for 3 days, drink water only. Symptoms got better starting eating carbs after that. 8months later and similiar symptoms, fatigue, bloating. Shall I assume the liquid diet for a few days? Not sure what the doctor or hospital will do other than tell me that and don't want to waste 12 hours in the ER again, let alone the cost.
Avatar n tn I have noticed signs of depression, anxiety, and his stomach discomfort for at least the past 6 months. His specialist told him that they didn't believe at this time it was Pancreatitis because they stated the levels would have gone down to normal by now. He has cleared all of his initial blood work, cancer tests were all normal, Amalyse is normal, and all of his scans show nothing else except that his pancreas is enlarged.
Avatar n tn Oh I am SO sorry! Bad enough to lose your friend, but it's so much worse during what is supposed to be a joyous time of year. I have to agree with your vet regarding the cause of death. I lost my first dog to pancreatitis and he had the same symptoms as your dog. It's an extremely painful condition and very difficult and expensive to treat. The only blessing here is that your dog was spared a great deal of suffering and took a difficult decision out of your hands.
Avatar n tn The endoscopy found mild gastritis. All other test are normal. The pancreatic specialist did not mention pancreatitis at the time and only prescribed nexium and sulcrafate for the gastritis. I am 67, and never had a previous bout with pancreatitis. Moderate beer drinker. How should I be treated?
