Avatar f tn My 9 yr. old little Poodle Julie also had 2 bouts of Pancreatitis..in 6 mos. time. Same symptoms as your dog & she was hospitalized both times for 4 days. They did the same to Julie as your dog. She came home 2 wks ago & is much better. Julie has Cushings disease & that may have caused it. No-one is sure. One thing I do know is that I gave her fatty table food right after last Xmas & she was real sick on New Years Eve. She also had a seizure with that bout...

Avatar n tn I'm having withdrawal symptoms I didn't expect. Light headedness, the runs, blood pressure going up, and general fatigue. Lots of fatigue. And some irritability. I am hoping that these symptoms begin to decrease soon. Well, they have gotten better than it was in the first 2 days. I am still wondering how long I can expect to have these side effects of withdrawal?
Avatar f tn After losing faith in my gp I saw 2 trichologists who said they can’t see any physical symptoms so ruled out any dermatological causes. So my gp suggested it could be a nerve problem, nerves misfiring and causing the itch. After googling nerve damage can be a result of b12 deficiency. My doctor prescribed me Amitriptyline a 10mg dose however the itch persisted.
Avatar n tn Other auto-immune diseases that have so far been linked to dysbiosis are psoriasis, lupus erythematosus and pancreatitis. When remedies are given that bind bacterial endotoxins, these conditions usually improve. A further consequence of dysbiosis is susceptibility to food poisoning as with salmonella bacteria, while a healthy intestinal flora prevents these from multiplying and causing trouble. Staphylococcus aureus or golden staph cause serious infections in hospital patients.
Avatar n tn I have since had several dilatations of the common bile duct, frequent attacks of Pancreatitis and am still experiencing the same symptoms and pain as I originally had!I now suffer from Chronic Pancreatitis (and I mean suffer!) I take several narcotics for pain, Sandustatin inj. for Pancreatic spasms, and enzymes. However, I was told by my Specialist that there is nothing else that can be done.I am very frustrated! I do not intend to live the rest of my life like this!
Avatar n tn Today my stomach is really sore after eating. I take Omeprazole and this isn't touching it or any other stomach remedies. I saw the doctor on Monday who said it doesn't sound like gallstones but to wait and see until Monday(Christmas Eve)! I also take Sulfasalazine and celeoxib for psoriatic arthritis. I'm getting panicky as my symptoms don't seem to fit with anything. Gallstones pain lasts hours, Peptic ulcer should be alleviated by omeprazole, Pancreatitis pain radiates to the back.
Avatar m tn You should have the CT done to make sure that nothing is going on with your pancreas. It's a organ that can cause silent symptoms that may not be picked up until changes become very obvious. Alcohol isn't the only thing that can impact the pancreas. Gallbladder issues and autoimmune pancreatitis are some other things that might want to be checked out.
793908 tn?1294708709 Hi all..I have not been in here in awhile. Life has been hard for Julie (my 10 yr old mini poodle). As some of you know, she is on Trilostane. It WAS working great till she had many Pancreatitis attacks..every month for 6 mos..& she had to go off & on Trilostane alot & that threw her body way off. Reluctantly, my Vet upped her to 34 mg. & said she can not go any higher for her weight..13.5 lbs.. I read differently...that she can go to a higher dose.
Avatar n tn It's true, that alcohol withdrawal can easily result in seizures. Withdrawal is best done under medical supervision in a detox unit. It's a small price to pay for long term sobriety. Also, it is important to get plans in place , like AA, to stay quit. Many times people think that all you have to do is to stop drinking, having no plans on what it takes to keep sober. AA meetings are a good place to start.
Avatar m tn One study in the USA found that up to one third of the patients in a liver clinic used herbal remedies. One of the most hepatotoxic vitamins is Vitamin A and anyone taking vitamin A supplements should be aware that doses higher than 25,000 IU (international units) per day may be dangerous. Most multivitamin preparations contain 4,000 IU vitamin A, which is well within the safety range.
Avatar n tn A blood test for celiac disease can also be considered. Chronic pancreatitis can also cause similar symptoms. A blood test for amylase and lipase as well as a CT scan to evaluate the pancreas can be considered. Treatment with pancrease tablets can be considered if this disease is suspected. If all the tests are negative, there are some cases of irritable bowel disease that can present with similar symptoms.
Avatar n tn the only time ive had complications is when they put stents in my pancreatic duct which gave me pancreatitis. The first one was 3 days after my gallbladder was removed and i had a bile leak and they had to go in and put in a stent in my bile duct to drain the bile out. You should be fine and hopefully they will be able to find out what's causing your pain. I'm sure they've did liver function tests were those normal? Keep us updated on how you're doing. When is your ercp scheduled?
Avatar f tn I would suggest you ask the Vet to test her for PANCREATITIS....is one hard to diagnosis condition that comes to mind. I will send you a link with more info on that, also a link to more info on food allergies/intolerances. In the meanwhile I would try feeding her very small amounts spread out in 4-5 feedings per day of a good grain free wet food that has is a different protein than chicken...there are some suggestions on the site I am sending.
Avatar n tn My surgeon mentioned the possibility of me having this. What were your symptoms like? Did food have any effect on your symptoms? I do have reflux which is under control and I'm being treated for bile reflux since my gallbladder surgery (one month ago). Of course I still have that "pain." I am really trying to avoid any more tests. Thanks for any insight!
Avatar n tn I always assumed it was liver or kidneys, but seems like it may be symptoms from my pancreas. Although I'm sure all organs have been at least somewhat affected. Although abstinence is the ABSOLUTE best answer, I need help in maintaining my health as best as possible as I slowly try to stop drinking. I have no insurance, little money AND I'm scared to death of doctors. I'm looking for over-the-counter medications, remedies, diets, etc.
Avatar f tn Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter. The residual symptoms of insomnia and depression can last another few months. Thus, it is not easy, but it gets better and better over time and you can look forward to a drug free healthy energetic you in the future. Avatar n tn He can keep water down most of the time but has thrown it up a few times. Other than these symptoms he is playful, seems ok. We gave him 1 tsp of pepto a few minutes ago but it hasn't been long enough to see if it worked. Is this something we should rush him to the vet tomorrow or is this pretty normal and should we give him 24 hours or so to recover on his own? Any other home remedies we can do to keep him comfortable? We are watching him for dehydration.
Avatar n tn except he added pituitary gland problems and early pancreatitis. He was amazing...in his early 60's and does iris analogy. I did not tell him any symptoms or what was going on. Avatar n tn From 20 to 40 percent of women who do not have bile stones, but have biliary pain symptoms, have acute pancreatitis following the cutting of the sphincter; up to 20% can have pancreatitis just from the procedure. There can be long term effects also. The common bile duct may become chronically inflamed due to reflux of small intestinal fluid into the duct. From 14-36 percent may have some long term complications which may result in chronic pain.
Avatar n tn In 1997 I had my gallbladder removed do to stones. My doctor described my gallbladder as looking like a "sack full of bebes". Since then I have still had the same symptoms as I had before my gallbladder removal. Diarrhea, sever abdominal pain, nausea, etc. Sometimes I even wonder if they really removed it! The only difference is that I do not vomit like I use to! Is it possible that there is a stone still stuck somewhere?
Avatar f tn First, aching and tired and flulike symptoms are NOT symptoms of advanced liver disease. They are symptoms of major depression. What is you exact diagnosis? Where you told outright by your doc that the pain you are experiencing is from an inflamed liver? What Stage and Grade did the biopsies indicate? When were they performed? Have you had imaging done? Ultrasound, CT? Does the biopsy report say your liver is enlarged? If so, it should say the size of your liver on the biopsy report.
Avatar n tn The good thing about this is that at least your doc seems to have some idea of what it could be - most docs don't. They brush off the symptoms saying they can't find anything after rounds of testing of organs that have nothing to do with the biliary system. I hope your doc is discussing ways of looking at your biliary system. An MRCP is a less invasive test to do and it may give you some idea of whether or not your biliary structure is 'problematic.
Avatar m tn However, the only way to be sure is with a liver biopsy, and this can be considered if cirrhosis continues to be suspected. If the lower GI symptoms continue, I would consider a colonoscopy to exclude colitis or other sources of lower GI bleeding. These options can be discussed with your personal physician. Followup with your personal physician is essential.
Avatar n tn Treatment and reduction of the gas formation would depend on the cause. Chronic pancreatitis is one possibility - although the imaging studies you have had may have suggested this. You can consider blood tests looking at the pancreatic enzymes. Malabsorption may be considered as well. Blood tests looking for celiac disease as well as stool tests examining for fecal fat can be done to consider this. Another possibility may be bacterial overgrowth.

Avatar n tn I had a reaction that almost cost me my life leaving me with pancreatitis. My liver enzymes were 5 times normal and I have been really quite sick for the last three weeks. Instead of going back to the oxycontin, I decided that I would rather try to go off of the pills as I am so sick of being weak, not finding my words and thinking about when my next dose is due. Here is my question to those of you who have gone through this challenge: I am still taking the hydrocodone.
Avatar f tn she cant take any of the medications, like pentasa, asacol, 6mp because she gets pancreatitis and becomes even more sick. So I have worked in a hospital pharmacy for 15 years and I put her on fish oil, probiotics, calcium and her symtoms were half relieved. She still has some bleeding and lots of diarrhea, but she has not been hospitalized for 3 months. So my question is were to now. She is under weight, her hair is falling out. No one has any answers.
Avatar n tn Did you ever findout what was wrong? I am having these EXACT symptoms right now. I just had some blood drawn this morning for lab work and am waiting for a Gastroenterologist referral as we speak. Thanks!
