Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis symptoms recovery

pancreatitis

Avatar n tn Did the vet say an ultra-sound should be done. My dog had all the symptoms of pancreatitis - and we found out when it was too late that he had eaten a piece of rubber - and it was lodged in his intestines. It didnt show up on an x-ray ... but did when i decided to take him for an ultra-sound. Unfortunately, Willie was too weak, and passed away.
Avatar n tn My 7 year old champion 4-H obedience/Showmanship female schnauzer was recently and unexpectedly diagnosed with pancreatitis. Her Lipase levels reflected 6000. Three days later her levels dropped to 5000, by the 5th day they jumped to almost 8000. After a long talk with the Vet, I elected to bring her home if she was able to hold food down. Despite the high lipase level, the dog was perkier and feeling better, we were risking her survival, but it was chance it or euthanize the dog.
Avatar n tn (We manage it very well with diet and Vetsulin but it takes dedication, a rigid feeding schedule and 2 shots a day.) Keep an eye out for the symptoms once your pal is well. Early symptoms include increased drinking, iurinating more (accidents may be a sign), weight loss, increased appetite, dehydration and sudden cataract formation.
Avatar n tn A portion of her intestine was re-routed and attached to the psuedocyst to drain. She continued with severe pancreatitis and a month and a half later she uderwent another surgical procedure to open the pancreatic ducts to allow the fluid to flow. She had an amazing recovery and was eating and out of the hospital two weeks later. Now, one year later she is having another bout of pancreatitis and we are so scared.
Avatar f tn Jan 2011, I'd be suffering from chronic pancreatitis (I get attacks once or twice a year) for almost 6 weeks. One morning I woke up very, very sick. Extremely stiff neck, I could barely move it, vomiting, fever was 104. I was like that for 9 days before I finally went in to the hospital. The dr did a lumbar puncture.
Avatar n tn They admitted him and after several more tests and his symptoms they said that he had Schpincter of Oddi and needed to have an ERCP done. Tomorrow will be 5 days since the porcedure, but he still feels no real relief. Is this normal? How long until he will feel no pain in his stomach?
559187 tn?1330786456 I had to stay home sick today as I did not get any sleep last night because of stomach pain and nausea. I am also having fatigue that is so overwhelming and comes on so quickly that I feel compelled to stop whatever I am doing and go lay down. That is very strange as that never happens to me. So I called my PCP to tell her what was going on.
Avatar n tn Diagnosing pancreatitis is not straightforward since similar symptoms can be generated by other disease processes as well, and it is necessary to distinguish between these before appropriate treatment can begin. Ultrasound examination of the abdomen and identification of elevated levels of amylase and lipase (enzymes produced by the pancreas) in the mother's blood are usually sufficient to confirm the diagnosis of pancreatitis.
Avatar n tn The location of your pain sounds very much like where mine was located before my first attack of acute pancreatitis. I now have chronic pancreatitis. I also had the yellow stools, either fatty or so oily that they would float. Also had the weight loss and inability to eat. Back ache is also a common complaint, but not everyone gets it. You need a second opinion.
Avatar f tn I've gone to the ER 4 or 5 times over the years. The second trip to the ER, I was told I had the symptoms of a gallbladder attack & within a weeks, had my gallbladder removed. There wasn't a single stone found, and two weeks later, I had another severe attack at work minutes after taking my first Vicodine ever, for shoulder pain. My co-workers thought I was having a heart attack. The Dr. said I might have a hiatal hernia & gave me Nexium. The attacks continued for 9 more years.
Avatar f tn My 9 yr. old little Poodle Julie also had 2 bouts of Pancreatitis..in 6 mos. time. Same symptoms as your dog & she was hospitalized both times for 4 days. They did the same to Julie as your dog. She came home 2 wks ago & is much better. Julie has Cushings disease & that may have caused it. No-one is sure. One thing I do know is that I gave her fatty table food right after last Xmas & she was real sick on New Years Eve. She also had a seizure with that bout...
Avatar f tn I had my gallbladder removed with single site robotic laparoscopic surgery on October 25. I've really not had any complications although I have questions regarding a few symptoms that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on: 1. I still feel out of sorts. My head feels foggy, a little light headed still, and yes I am walking around and moving myself. Is it normal to feel this way several days post-op? I am drinking and eating (low-fat). 2.
Avatar f tn Many of the early symptoms of methanol poisoning are non-specific eg. headache, dizziness, malaise, generalized weakness, altered sensorium, acute mania, and paresthesias.
3227046 tn?1458317076 I spent ten days in the hospital and was treated for sepsis and pancreatitis before removing laparoscopically my gall bladder, then 8 stones in the common duct. before that I had no symptoms except extreme fatigue. I am staying with my daughter, mostly resting and seem to be without signs of further problems except for some sore cuts in my mouth from the tubes used for anesthesia for which I am using peroxide mouthwash.
Avatar n tn That is to say including the ones who get pancreatitis after the operation as well as the ones who do not, what is the overal recovery rate? If it's good, then she can possibly look at the pancreatitis as a necesary path to get to a full recovery. Do you know what I mean? As far as where my dad is with this, (who is naturally her ongoing primary care physician) he is talking to a local surgeon who also knows about what is going on so far.
Avatar n tn pancreatitis 0.1 Dear Jean, I also had an ercp and I got pancreatitis also from it. I was in the hospital for 5 days and when I got out I was still having pain but I struggled and didn't take the pain pills because I didn't want to get hooked on them but believe me I took the pain shots during the worse part of the attack.
Avatar n tn Hi Tasha, Glad to hear the polyp was negative! Your symptoms of pain varying from a mild irritation to a severe attack at different times is definately how I would describe mine. One thing I have learned over the last two yrs in dealing with all these doctors is that if they are telling you something that you know doesn't jive with what your feeling/you've read - then its time to try a different doctor. If you feel shrugged off then definately try a new one.
Avatar f tn I am 5 days into sobriety and I have had some major withdrawl symptoms including night sweats, vivid dreams and extreme moodiness and I swear that I have not slept for more than a couple of hours each night which has made it very difficult to work my required 10 hour days. I went to get an over the counter sleep aid, but it makes me very groggy the next day........is there any end to this? Does anyone have any suggestions for me that will help me get through the first couple of weeks?
Avatar n tn Is there anyway she could be treated, if it is chronic pancreatitis, for a complete/partial recovery? Is it possible to have chronic pancreatitis without having diabetes/insulin problems? Why are all those enzymes not helping her and why is she getting worse? Since she's not able to eat most nutritious foods, can she take vitamin or mineral supplements to compensate for lack of balanced diet or would that cause problems if she has digestive disorders?

Avatar m tn I know have been sober for roughly 3 weeks and most of the painful symptoms such as the shakes, pulsating headaches confusion delusion and clouded thoughts have faded and as of late i have not expierienced any cravings. But a few things that are still occuring have left me wondering id these symptoms are a normal part of withdrawl.
Avatar n tn I'm having withdrawal symptoms I didn't expect. Light headedness, the runs, blood pressure going up, and general fatigue. Lots of fatigue. And some irritability. I am hoping that these symptoms begin to decrease soon. Well, they have gotten better than it was in the first 2 days. I am still wondering how long I can expect to have these side effects of withdrawal?
Avatar n tn DURING BY FIRST FEW WEEKS OF RECOVERY, I HAD A BAD PAIN BELOW MY RIGHT BREAST, THAT FELT LIKE SOMETHING JABBING ME. I TOLD THE DOCTOR AND HE SAID IT WOULD SUBSIDE, THAT MY INSIDES WOULD TAKE A WHILE TO GET BACK TO NORMAL. IT DID SUBSIDE UNTIL ABOUT 4 WEEKS AGO, IT CAME A FEW TIMES A WEEK, AND NOW I GET IT EVERYDAY SOMETIMES 2 OR 3 X'S. THE PAIN IS BAD, AND I FEEL PRESSURE AND BLOATED BUT IT DOES NOT LOOK INFLAMMED IN THAT AREA.
903531 tn?1275393973 If the GB is diseased, no matter how healthy he eats he will STILL have to get it removed, since the GB, once symptomatic, starts becoming considerably more sensitive, to the point where even no-fat meals may cause symptoms. Ruptured gallbladders are not common. However, they can be deadly.
Avatar n tn I can be tired after 12 hours sleep! Can I be suffering symptoms from my thallassemia. Does any one else feel the same way that I do? This is a little bit hard for me, but I don't want to complain.
Avatar n tn I was only out of work for 2 weeks and during that time was somewhat out and about. Symptoms of a new illness presented in March, starting with a canker sore, and progressing to flu like symptoms. I noticed greenish/brown mucus and tooth pain and went to doctor for an anti-biotic (I think Bactrim). I took the antibiotic which seemed to clear up what I thought was a sinus infection but I still wasn't feeling better and my glands were very swollen (they still are too a degree).
Avatar n tn Yes, I also have Fibromyalgia. I have the same symptoms MedNet said. I recently have noticed I have been "swallowing" food wrong and coughing or chocking, sometimes I just swallow my own spit wrong. If that doesn't sound crazy! I have been diagnosed with mild Cardiomyopathy also. I am scheduled for a stress test this next week. I really do beleive my pain is digestive. I had a scope done a couple of years ago and was told I have GERD.
