Pancreatitis symptoms neck pain

Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis symptoms neck pain

Avatar n tn My theory is that partially occluded ducts will cause severe pain and subacute symptoms without causing elevated levels in the bloodstream because the enzymes are not totally blocked. If you have ever had an acute attack of pancreatitis, there may be some residual pancreatic damage that is causing your symptoms. Another possibility is sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. In this condition, the sphincter of Oddi spasms and causes severe pain.
Avatar f tn I have abdominal distention, squeezing pain that starts in abdomen and moves up my body to my neck, drilling feeling behind lower left ribs, extreme fatigue, pain in abdomen, pain in joints, swelling, etc.. I have "a bunch" of Esophogeal Ulcurs and an inflamed stomach, this issue was addressed. I have been to several Dr.'s that don't seem to CARE about ME as a whole.
436191 tn?1256649906 Have you ruled out issues relating to disc problems in the neck or muscle problems in the shoulder/torso? I would imagine you had gi pain and symptoms like nausea/bloating/constipation etc. The Sphincter o f Oddi conditon is tricky to diagnose. If you take a smooth muslce relaxant it may give you some indication if that it the issue. Also - be very careful with narcotic meds (percocet etc.) as they cause the sphincter to spasm and can even be the cause of SOD!
Avatar n tn Hello I would ask your dr about a test for Autoimmune Pancreatitis. I had the same symptoms as you descibe, and I was just diagnosed with this in the summer. It is very rare in the US but they are running into more and more of them. The only difference between you and I, is I had a mass on the tail of my pancreas, and they thought it was cancer. It wouldn't hurt for you to check with your DR about this. Because of your elevated ANA it is a idea. The test is called IgG4.
Avatar n tn (We manage it very well with diet and Vetsulin but it takes dedication, a rigid feeding schedule and 2 shots a day.) Keep an eye out for the symptoms once your pal is well. Early symptoms include increased drinking, iurinating more (accidents may be a sign), weight loss, increased appetite, dehydration and sudden cataract formation.
Avatar n tn Librax (4X a day) Nexium (40 mgs 2X a day) Fibercon (3 pills 4X a day) Viokase 16 (4 pills 4X a day) Darvocet or Ultracet for the pain (Darvocet when I have a break through attack) Ambien (as needed) Erythromycin (1 and 1/2 Tsp - 4X a day) Since beginning the Viokase approximately four weeks ago I have found that I have some relief with the pain in my back and my overall day to day pain/discomfort has improved.
902019 tn?1249865014 It was a bit more intense on my right side but only slightly off center. The docs would always ask about pain in the back (typical of pancreatitis) and I never had any pain there. Could never come up with any definitive correlation with anything e.g. what I ate, how much I ate etc. They gave me Nexium 2x a day to calm the stomach but that had no effect at all. Still a mystery.
Avatar n tn There are a variety of possibilities. This can include upper GI disorders, like GERD, an ulcer, or inflammation of the upper digestive tract. An upper endoscopy would be recommended. Gallbladder or liver disease, which can lead to light colored stools, can be evaluated with a CT scan or ultrasound. I agree with the comment that celiac disease be checked for, which can be done via blood antibody tests.
Avatar m tn When this muscle shortens, this can press on brachial plexus (bundle of nerves and blood vessels in the armpit) and the subclavian artery and can compress or irritate these structures and cause symptoms such as abnormal sensation, cold extremity, spasms of pain, and lymphedema (swelling of lymph channels causing swelling of arm or leg) in the involved extremity. A chiropractor can help you with this.
Avatar n tn Dear Pattie, I assume from your posting that your pain is attributed to chronic pancreatitis and that other causes have been excluded. The pain from pancreatitis can be devastating. For those who suffer from chronic painful pancreatitis, each day is challenging. Some patients require ongoing narcotic use- Duragesic patches being one approach to relieve symptoms. Some, however, require klarge doses of demerol to control the pain.
Avatar n tn I have had ercp last month although they did not check pressure, I dont know might have it again, because taking narcotics (opiate pain killers) for the pain does make it worse and this can be a sign of sphinctor of oddi!! I hope I hear from you. I had my gb out 3 yrs ago!
Avatar m tn Dogs are usually far more stoic about pain than people, but that doesn't mean their pain shouldn't be treated. My dog had a 75 mcg fentanyl patch and dilaudid while he was an inpatient. If nothing shows up on ultrasound, all the vets can do is literally starve your dog, treat the symptoms and hope for the best. If there is no improvement in a week (or even less), she'll need a port installed in her neck.
1098760 tn?1266451497 It started with a ringing in my ears and nausea and hot/cold flashes rapidly followed by pain like Ive never felt in my frontal lobe down into my eyes, down my neck, into my shoulders first the right then the left. then down my back. There was an odd vibrating sensation through my entire body. burning pain. also pain in the complete right side of my face. my body by the end hurt so bad everywhere that I couldnt be touched by anything.
Avatar f tn I recently had a lump the size of a quarter on the right back side of neck and a small one on the left front side of neck which did not stay long. It was very tender to touch and hurt to look to the right. Cat scan was normal. The fever has come back and have had it for about five days now. No vomiting, only pain, in in the lower right abdomen and is mild for the past three days. I feel worse when I eat and with activity. I am really tired of having this issue and no answers.
Avatar n tn full body twitching (random) muscle spasms and cramps (back, legs/feet) pain (knees, back, arms, legs, feet, neck) serious headaches chest pain abdominal pain I have had: EMG Blood work EKG MRI (brain and lumbar) Stool analysis endoscopy biopsies (esophagus and pancreas…dr’s dumb fault for those) everything has come back totally NORMAL! However, i'm still dealing with the cramps and muscle twitching and i'm scheduled to see a neuro for the first time next week.
Avatar f tn I have hyperparathyroidism, some immunedeficiency and chronic infection. I have had odd neck muscle pain and weakness for three months. Various symptoms for several years.
Avatar f tn The abdominal pain can be severe and mimic an acute abdomen; pancreatitis can develop and also produce abdominal pain. Permanent neuro-visual deficits may follow recovery from severe methanol poisoning eg. pseudobulbar palsy, primitive reflexes, persistent vegetative states, unsteady gait, severe cognitive impairment, visual hallucinations, flaccid paralysis, Parkinsonian-like syndromes, bilateral basal ganglia infarction and optic neuropathy.
Avatar f tn I was experiencing acute pancreatitis. The pain would actually make me feel as tho my neck and shoulders were having spasms. I would definetly reccommend a trip to your doctor. If you are @ risk of having contracted HCV then ask them to run the blood work on you.
Avatar f tn For about four years now I've been complaining to my family doctor about various symptoms. Fatigue, headaches, achy hands/knees/neck/back, low grade fever (comes and goes), nausea, abdominal pain, and a rash that comes and goes on my scalp (my hairdresser told me about it) that is not bothersome in ANY way. Any time I go out in the sun my face gets REALLY red, even if I'm out for only a few minutes...and only across my nose and cheeks.
Avatar f tn Thought it might just be a crick in my neck. A week later pain still constant but than as suddenly pain in belly button appeared and pain in shoulder gone. Than horrible pain in middle of chest and back between both shoulder blades after drinking a margarita and eating fried chicken which I hardly ever do.
Avatar m tn When people say chronic pain and nothing else it limits the responses to pain meds usually narcotic. If the source of the chronic pain is told then people with the same problem may give ideas for temporary relief thru other means,,for instance I"ve had multi back surgerys and can tell things that did or didnt work for me but only if I know that the persons pain comes from problems similar to mine.
Avatar n tn If you're still there, did you ever get an answer to your query? I'm having the same thing only I've also got pain in my neck and left shoulder which is spreading across to my right at times and sometimes towards my left elbow. Also, it's getting harder to breathe deeply. I'm 41. I have a thyroid condition but it's being treated.
Avatar n tn I can not lay down in a bed and must sleep sitting up as if I lay down the pain gets far worse. Pain is constant day and night although degree varies from a 1 to 10. Can not eat solid foods. Eat mainly ceral, bread, crackers and such. Have been tested -CT scat, colorosopy, endoscopy, blood tests and untra sound. Nothing shows up,but condition continues and seems to be getting worse.Pain medication has been increased from low end to diladid.Three doctors are puzzled.
Avatar f tn i have also done research that back and neck pain have been known to come about from gallstones (which i always assumed from my period). i noticed this became more sever when i drank alcohol, i did some research and assumed i had an ulcer, so i called my family doctor and said what i thought was wrong and i went in and he gave me prevacid to see if it would help and i would have to go back in 3 weeks.
Avatar f tn 25mg.)--I also have pain in my left upper abdomen under ribs sometimes but it isn't bad pain (it was bad before my surgery sometimes)and I have had pain under my left shoulder blade too.....however I have had these pains on and off for 5 years but with no gastric symptoms...My presenting symptom with the gallbladder was constant nausea---and the nausea still happens on many day, especially in the morning with some reflux in my throat....
Avatar m tn cardiac diseases, lung cancer, thoracic outlet syndrome, pancreatitis, gall bladder disease and muscle pain. Is the pain accompanied by any other feature like cough, blood in the sputum, palpitations, weight loss? What kind of pain is it-sharp/shooting? Dull/constant? Does it increase or decrease with any posture? Does it radiate somewhere else? In your case, it can be due to cigarette smoking also. it can produce heart disease and cancer is now common knowledge.
Avatar m tn While I plan to ask my gastroenterologist for an MRCP to rule out chronic pancreatitis, I'd like to know if there are other possible reasons for this type of pain. Could it be due solely to the gastroparesis? (I tend to be more sensitive in my back than front, even to the point of feeling heartburn on my back way before my chest.) Could it be due to nerve compression issues? Could it be something else I've yet to consider?
Avatar n tn Today, arm feels normal again, still upper back pain mostly right side with a bit of neck pain on the left side. Hot bath or shower helps the pain until i get out. Feeling a tad fuzzy in my head but my anxiety is through the roof so that can be adding to my symptoms I assume. I have an appt with a dr in 2 weeks. Just looking for anyone who's ever experienced a pinched nerve to see if its possible that's all I have? The dr said he has his suspicions that this is neurological.
