Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis symptoms kids

pancreatitis

Avatar f tn ve ever had is a (drum roll please)...................CRAMP????? Hahahahaha, dipshit! All my symptoms point to Pancreatitis. I am going to my regular GI Doc on Tues, excited to maybe get some answers. I also "googled" the results of my Transvaginal Ultrasound, ha! I seem to have a "Complex" cyst on my left ovary. Those are the kind that have to be evaluated right away and removed, they are not good!
Avatar f tn My chocolate lab "Skip" is about 10 years old and developed pancreatitis for the first time. We took him to the doctor he never vomited or diahrea until the day after he got to the vets office. His amalyse was high like 8000 and his glucose and white blood count low but we got an ultrasound to make sure not cancer. He started to show improvements with the IV and antibiotic. Now a week later he is starting to decline and the vet has tried everything.
203342 tn?1328737207 I was able to make a sale day appointment Friday and the doctor isn’t sure what’s going on, said it could be adhesions, ulcer, gastritis, pancreatitis. She didn’t think diverticulitis because I don’t have a fever or symptoms for that. She didn’t order any imaging, which surprised me, but said I should get in to see a GI doctor as soon as possible. I’ve been waiting for months to get a referral to go through for GI and am still waiting.
Avatar f tn Hi, understand your concern. With pancreatitis usually the lipase and amylase values are increased many folds. And if chronic the imaging studies will usually show pancreatic fibrosis. In the absence of these findings its unlikely that you have chronic pancreatitis. The other causes for the pain could be infections of the bowel and bladder, prolapsed intervertebral disc or inflammatory diseases of the colon. So, if your symptoms persist discuss these options with your doctor. Regards.
719251 tn?1230340905 My mother has been suffering from Pancreatitis for the past 4months. She has been in hospital three times with severe pain, vomitting, and fluid in the abdominal. In that time she has lots over 25kg. She is 60 years old but since loosing so much weight she looks like 80 years old. She no longer drinks but continues to smoke. What worries me the most is that she eats very tiny amount of food, she vomitts everyday and she is just not getting any better.
Avatar m tn ve avoided all carbs and sugar on the advice of dr google, I started to suspect it could be Pancreatitis as a side effect of the hand foot mouth virus. This diet seems to help, I barely feel the pain now, it comes and goes. I have also been peeing a lot, but I've been drinking a lot of water. Not necessarily because I'm super thirsty, but when I'm not feeling well, I try to drink a lot of water.
1453931 tn?1285185353 the thing about this with me that You have to understand is my age, doctors dont believe that kids my age can even get pancreatitis, let alone it be chronic, so that in itself has been a hurdle for me. The GI that I go to now has worked with many children who have had chronic pancreantitis and says I match this disease perfectly, and it is very common for other GIs not to recognize it. So about the auto immune thing, we have tested for that and it was negative.
Avatar m tn Although colonoscopy and endoscopy and CT scans are good to look at reasons for these symptoms, you should ask your doctor about the possibility that this is related to migraine headaches which can lead to these symptoms as well.
Avatar m tn My cat was DX w pancreatitius & met all symptoms for a few weeks / the meds worked but it got bad. Then a big turn happened. He started eating & now won't stop! His constant meowing is driving me crazy.he lost weight whwhen really sick. He is still underweight but why does he demand food 24/7? I'm so stressed out I can't think straight. Upset too if his DX was wrong we spent so much $$ on labs/meds. Now I'm not sure/don't think he has it! Help.
Avatar n tn I have read that gallbladder surgery is dangerous in the presence of pancreatitis and that the pancreatitis can also cause gallbladder disease or vice versa. Anyone had similar question?
1727909 tn?1314845210 I'm having gallbladder pain and symptoms- has anyone gained weight after the surgery? And what is it about GB removal that makes you gain weight?
Avatar f tn ve had my gallbladder removed in 2006, a ectopic pregnancy, then a hysterectomy (which they found endometriosis) , gastric bypass (2014)then had pancreatitis a month after that surgery. My father currently has cancer and out of my grandmas 8 kids 5 has passed from cancer (2 stomach, liver, lung, breast) so i scheduled for a endoscopy but my doctor doesn't seem concerned at all.
Avatar f tn Last year was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Am again suffering from similiar symptoms. Hospital told me not to eat till I saw family doctor. He told me not to eat for 3 days, drink water only. Symptoms got better starting eating carbs after that. 8months later and similiar symptoms, fatigue, bloating. Shall I assume the liquid diet for a few days? Not sure what the doctor or hospital will do other than tell me that and don't want to waste 12 hours in the ER again, let alone the cost.
Avatar n tn The endoscopy found mild gastritis. All other test are normal. The pancreatic specialist did not mention pancreatitis at the time and only prescribed nexium and sulcrafate for the gastritis. I am 67, and never had a previous bout with pancreatitis. Moderate beer drinker. How should I be treated?
Avatar f tn You may have chronic pancreatitis. Find a biliary specialist soon. You should get testing to determine if you have this or not. If you do they will advise you what to do to help.
Avatar f tn hello, i am not much of an alcohol drinker but the other night we had pizza and cake and 4 glasses of wine for a birthday party and later that night i woke up with severe pains in my lower chest that went straight through to my back and it was really worse than labor i have 3 kids so i know, anyway my doctor says its from wine and i can no longer drink it, that seems crazy to me is this possible?
Avatar n tn I had my first attack of acute pancreatitis last week. It was a mild attack. I spent a couple of days in the hospital on IV. I'm feeling much better and haven't had another painful attack. However, I still seem to have soreness on my left side, but not in the same location as the pancreatitis pain. My stomach is also still bloated. My attack was 5 days ago. My question is; is it normal to have some residual soreness after acute pancreatitis?
Avatar f tn //www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/pancreatitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20360227 It's my understanding that sometimes in severe scaring cases they will do surgery or use nerve blocks to help. But more information would be beneficial for more discussion.
Avatar m tn m not a big drinker, and in fact have had no alcohol (or any other vice) for probably 5 months in effort to lose weight. The symptoms are making me think chronic pancreatitis based on what I have read though I have had no symptoms like this prior to the initial event. Over the course of a few months, the symptoms do not seem to be worsening, which is good, but also not getting better.
Avatar f tn my dog has had pancreatitis 2 times he is 8 yrs old and he hasnt shown symptoms in 2 yrs. we got a kitten over the weekend and the dog ended up eating the cat food a couple of times. now he has diahrea and i have seen a couple blood drops by the poop. Is there something i can do for him other then take him to the vet. It is the same exact symtoms as last time so i really dont need to pay a couple hunred dollars for them to tell me what i already know.
Avatar f tn I was wondering, because a friend of mine has shown symptoms of hyperthyroidism, after I had done some research, and I plan on urging them to get this checked out. I also know that this person's father has pancreatitis. I read that thyroid disorders can be hereditary. Do you think that this has anything to do with the possible hyperthyroidism, the association between pancreatitis and thyroid disorders? I can't find much about it. And are thyroid disorders linked with diabetes?
Avatar m tn Thanks for the reply, my dr has not ordered the pancreatic enzyme labs yet, she feels it is GERD related. I suppose without any other symptoms of pancreatitis it would be low. I am a very anxious person so it's most likely a mixture of the two (GERD and Anxiety). I have no fever, no vomitting, no jaundice, I am at a loss.
Avatar f tn My lipase has been mildly elevated, also my ca 19 (panc tumor marker) is double norm and double what it was 4 wks prior. Dr did say pancreatitis and other factors could cause this to rise. My dad died of PC so I am scared I have it. My ab US, CT w dye and EUS were all clear. My dr and the dr that did my EUS said that they do not think its pancreatitis as it does not present this way, nor last this long, they say doubtfully cancer too.
Avatar m tn Focal pancreatitis may be acute or chronic depending on the symptoms present. Chronic pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas that does not heal or improve, gets worse over time, and leads to permanent damage while acute pancreatitis presents with sudden swelling and inflammation of the pancreas that resolves in a couple of weeks. It is best that you discuss your management plan with your attending physician also for proper evaluation.
