pancreatitis

Avatar n tn And make sure you stick to a diet that 'agrees' with the guidelines of trying to handle pancreatitis. It can take a heck of a long time to start to feel decent. With pancreatic cancer symptoms, there normally are very, very few until the cancer is well-advanced.
Avatar n tn I wanted to know if these are normal symptoms after an acute pancreatitis ?. i would really appreciate any type of helpful comments because I'm worried about my mom and i hate seeing her in pain. Thanks a lot!!! This discussion is related to Unknown stomach pain.
Avatar n tn My 7 year old champion 4-H obedience/Showmanship female schnauzer was recently and unexpectedly diagnosed with pancreatitis. Her Lipase levels reflected 6000. Three days later her levels dropped to 5000, by the 5th day they jumped to almost 8000. After a long talk with the Vet, I elected to bring her home if she was able to hold food down. Despite the high lipase level, the dog was perkier and feeling better, we were risking her survival, but it was chance it or euthanize the dog.
Avatar f tn You may have chronic pancreatitis. Find a biliary specialist soon. You should get testing to determine if you have this or not. If you do they will advise you what to do to help.
Avatar n tn This is suppossed to be one of the symptoms of pancreatitis, but I have not idea what that would look like. Mine is floating most of the time. I am also constipated most of the time. I thought diarreha would be more of a symptom for pancreatitis? I'm going back to the dr. next week, but was hoping to get some ideas of what might be going on.
Avatar f tn my dog has had pancreatitis 2 times he is 8 yrs old and he hasnt shown symptoms in 2 yrs. we got a kitten over the weekend and the dog ended up eating the cat food a couple of times. now he has diahrea and i have seen a couple blood drops by the poop. Is there something i can do for him other then take him to the vet. It is the same exact symtoms as last time so i really dont need to pay a couple hunred dollars for them to tell me what i already know.
Avatar n tn IT SEEMS NO ONE IS REALLY FOCUSING ON DIET WITH ME, DR'S I MEAN. I'M HOPING THAT ALL THESE SYMPTOMS WILL BE GONE WITH THE NEXT ERCP, I CAN'T IMAGINE CONTINUING TO LIVE DAILY LIKE THIS AND WITH THE FATIGUE. I WORKED IN A MEDICAL OFFICE MYSELF, BUT HAVE NOT BEEN AT WORK SINCE OCT., IT'S DIFFERENT BEING ON THIS SIDE. THANK YOU BOTH AGAIN..
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with mild pancreatitis over 4 years ago it is on going. I currently still am experiencing slight pain on my right side. I have been seen by a GI doctor and a CT Scan, Ultra sound, MRCP have been performed. No issues have been found, I asked if it could be cancer and was told no tumors or cist we found wehn reviewing the xrays. We then tried to stop my BP meds thinking they could be the cause, but I could not stay off of them long enough to make a determination.
Avatar n tn (We manage it very well with diet and Vetsulin but it takes dedication, a rigid feeding schedule and 2 shots a day.) Keep an eye out for the symptoms once your pal is well. Early symptoms include increased drinking, iurinating more (accidents may be a sign), weight loss, increased appetite, dehydration and sudden cataract formation.
Avatar n tn I posted couple of weeks ago . I went to the Er on 3-11 & was admitted for 4 days for pancreatits with mildly elevated Lipase (28) & a -sudden- severe pain in upper right quadrant(close to breastbone) that went straight thru to the back that was excruciating after eating that night. I also have ongoing pain in my back and a 'shooting & spasiming pain ' thats tolerable for now directly in my left ribs.
Avatar m tn I'm not a big drinker, and in fact have had no alcohol (or any other vice) for probably 5 months in effort to lose weight. The symptoms are making me think chronic pancreatitis based on what I have read though I have had no symptoms like this prior to the initial event. Over the course of a few months, the symptoms do not seem to be worsening, which is good, but also not getting better.
Avatar n tn In July of 2011 I became very sick. "Out of it", lethargic, sterrorhea, and one particular episode where I had an electric shock feeling in my mid abdemon for several seconds. After this moment, I felt horrible with moderate left side discomfort and generally feeling like I had the flu. Having an MRI which didn't reveal anything significant, I later went for EUS. Doctor indicated CP and life began with Creon. I have taken max levels of Creon 24K x 8/meal and sterrorhea remains.
Avatar n tn Did the vet say an ultra-sound should be done. My dog had all the symptoms of pancreatitis - and we found out when it was too late that he had eaten a piece of rubber - and it was lodged in his intestines. It didnt show up on an x-ray ... but did when i decided to take him for an ultra-sound. Unfortunately, Willie was too weak, and passed away.
Avatar n tn A portion of her intestine was re-routed and attached to the psuedocyst to drain. She continued with severe pancreatitis and a month and a half later she uderwent another surgical procedure to open the pancreatic ducts to allow the fluid to flow. She had an amazing recovery and was eating and out of the hospital two weeks later. Now, one year later she is having another bout of pancreatitis and we are so scared.
Avatar n tn Many of my conditions are related to post-Graves Disease. Ten years ago I had my gallbladder out after an attack of acute pancreatitis. I subsequently developed chronic pancreatitis and was diagnosed with Sphincter of Oddi. Rather than have the invasive surgery I went on a strict, fresh chicken soup diet with supplements ordered by an Ayruvedic doctor. Within 2 years I was completely recovered and could eat anything.
Avatar n tn All you can do is treat the pain and nausea, avoid all alcohol, and really cut down on fat in your diet. As you've already discovered, pancreatitis is an extremely difficult disease to treat. You'll need to keep up with your gastro doc. Probably add on a pain management doc. And definitely consider seeing a pain psychologist so you can learn how to live with pain on a long-term basis without constantly having to increase narcotics. That's about it. I'm really sorry this has happened.
611067 tn?1458595083 I'm feeling a lot better as far as pain goes, but still have the other symptoms of diarrhea, nausea and headaches. I still feel really fatigued, but that's probably a combination of only being 33 days out from Lortab as well as the illness. I am taking Darvocet when the pain is there, but otherwise, I'm not taking anything. I'm being very careful and feel good about that. Thanks for all your well wishes! I have appreciated it.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the reply, my dr has not ordered the pancreatic enzyme labs yet, she feels it is GERD related. I suppose without any other symptoms of pancreatitis it would be low. I am a very anxious person so it's most likely a mixture of the two (GERD and Anxiety). I have no fever, no vomitting, no jaundice, I am at a loss.
10821430 tn?1439584483 5~ all other levels were within normal ranges. Vet said since he is a mid-age Yorkie he has PLE (although he has had no other stated symptoms)this is his first time with this and none of his parents or siblings ( I have 5 here) had any symptoms~ his dam is now 15-1/2 yrs~sire is 14-1/2 yrs...after reading he sounds like he had a accute inflammation of the pancreatitis..he is taking 1-50mg.Metronidazole per day/ 1-Prednisolone 5mg.twice a day also on 1.
Avatar m tn A few symptoms that are only present when I have pancreatitis flare-ups are small black specks in my stool or sometimes even small red spots. I don't know these are of any concern as related to blood or just rather undigested food from my pancreases inability to perform fully. Most of my questions to the doctors go unanswered and other symptom explanations are shrugged off.
902019 tn?1249865014 Usually have done well with prednisone for the various flare-ups but with AIP, still recurring symptoms and the elevated IgG4 periodically. Next step may be Imuran. Is there anyone out there who has had good results with Imuran for autoimmune pancreatitis?
Avatar n tn I have moderate to severe chronic pancreatitis, and your symptoms are very similar to those I suffered with. It doesn't matter that you don't drink, this condition affects many people who don't. I also have trouble gaining weight, at the onset of the disease I lost 25 pounds and though I have gained some back, I lose it again easily whenever I have flareups. The weight problem is a sign of malabsorption, another problem with CP.
Avatar n tn Feel free to post again if you have any more questions. What are the symptoms of chronic pancreatitis? The symptoms are very variable. Pain occurs in most patients at some stage of the disease. This may vary in intensity from mild to severe. It may last for hours or sometimes days at a time and may require strong painkillers to control it. It often radiates through to the back and can sometimes be relieved by crouching forward.
1453931 tn?1285188953 Sorry to hear about your pancreatitis. Just a question how did you know you had chronic pancreatitis? I had my GB removed just like you in 2008. I had a bile leak and when they preformed a ERCP I got acute pancreatitis. It is a risk associated with the ERCP. Anyway after my amylase and lipase went down to normal I was checked out of the hospital. However since then I have had horrible nocturnal abdominal pain and it also happens when on an empty stomach longer than 4 hours.
Avatar n tn Second, has anyone on here that has been diagnosed with any form of Pancreatitis taken any diet suppliments? I have Idiopathic Severe Chronic Pancreatitis. I want to lose some weight and excersizing alone is not doing it due to the meds I take.
Avatar n tn stomach problems (stomach burning), mild diarrhoea (which i've had for some years already on and off. Its specifically notable that i still have it now because I take lots of fibre on my diet). Fibre seems to be helping but stool is still 'softish' a few days per week, stool colour normal, brownish. Bowel movement once a day or once every 2 days.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have chronic pancreatitis and have found that if I get too hungry I will have pain too, it's strange and I thought it was just me! yes, I too will stay away from food as long as possible to get rid of the pain, but then comes that not eating pain if I go too long, can't win, it's either pain because I ate, or pain because I have gone too long without eating enough!
Avatar n tn Kathleen, Pain behind the ribcage is a common symptom of pancreatitis. I have had acute pancreatitis which has now become chronic pancreatitis. Pain can be present in many areas, lower abdomen by navel, mid abdomen, flank areas, rib cage, back and shoulders. Pain is usually more severe when one is having a flare-up, when irritation and inflamation is present . Continued inflamation can lead to an acute attack.
Avatar n tn Other than that her symptoms go more with pancreatitis. Pain above her left ribcage that goes to her back - pain about her shoulder blades. When we saw the Dr.he had a complete blood work report in his hand and it showed raised amylase (131) and lipase levels (718) which I always thought showed pancreatitis. When I questioned him he said some people just have high levels and it is normal for them. I don't buy that.
Avatar m tn I have only two symptoms of pancreatitis and do not have nausea, headaches, jaundice, fatty stool, vomiting, constipation, low B/P, rapid heart rate, fever, sweats or an inflamed pancreas 4. The pain location minus the banding effect to my back is located directly on top of the location I had a pyloric stenosis surgery (and two consecutive repairs) 5. The pain can start immediately when I eat and at night.
