Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis symptoms cure

pancreatitis

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed in 2001 with Pancreatitis. Dr. did a couple of scopes (endo & gastro) I was put on 3 different meds. Domparadone, Buscopan, Rapabrazole (excuse the spelling, its very late) Also on a clear liquid diet for 2 months. Lost a lot of weight during this. Thought the problem was fixed. Then one day, BAM its back. Is there a cure, or is this another disease I just am going to have to "live" with? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn Now my question to concerned person is that - Is there any cure for Chronic Pancreatitis ? Because this disease was diagnosed 12 years ago, when there was less advancement in medical sciences. I hear many advance research programs going on around the world. So i was kind of hoping i would be able to get a good solution. The Cure i know - The cure i know would be cutting off the pancreas.
Avatar m tn An endoscopic implantation of a stent will not cure pancreatitis to my knowledge. There are medications that can help with the symptoms of this disease. It is very painful. Avatar f tn ve ever had is a (drum roll please)...................CRAMP????? Hahahahaha, dipshit! All my symptoms point to Pancreatitis. I am going to my regular GI Doc on Tues, excited to maybe get some answers. I also "googled" the results of my Transvaginal Ultrasound, ha! I seem to have a "Complex" cyst on my left ovary. Those are the kind that have to be evaluated right away and removed, they are not good!
Avatar n tn Do you drink a lot of alcohol? That generally causes pancreatitis, the symptoms of which can show up slowly and then knock you down into the hospital for weeks in severe pain. What exactly did you doctor tell you, and what treatment did he recommend?
Avatar m tn A very good friend of mine, his wife just got out of the hospital about 2 months ago due to Pancreatitis because of alcohol. Well I/we know she has a drinking problem, she has started drinking again. She said she researched and drinking Red Wine does not hurt her Pancreatitis. In my feeble attempts of research I have not found anything that supports her thought process.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with Chronic Pancreatitis as a result of gallstones. My gall bladder was removed in 2005 but 3-5 days weekly, I cannot sit upright for more than 20-30 minutes at a time and due to the pain in my lower back - I am required to lay horizontal for the rest of the entire day. Is this due to this illness?
Avatar f tn Hi, understand your concern. With pancreatitis usually the lipase and amylase values are increased many folds. And if chronic the imaging studies will usually show pancreatic fibrosis. In the absence of these findings its unlikely that you have chronic pancreatitis. The other causes for the pain could be infections of the bowel and bladder, prolapsed intervertebral disc or inflammatory diseases of the colon. So, if your symptoms persist discuss these options with your doctor. Regards.
Avatar m tn ve avoided all carbs and sugar on the advice of dr google, I started to suspect it could be Pancreatitis as a side effect of the hand foot mouth virus. This diet seems to help, I barely feel the pain now, it comes and goes. I have also been peeing a lot, but I've been drinking a lot of water. Not necessarily because I'm super thirsty, but when I'm not feeling well, I try to drink a lot of water.
Avatar f tn My chocolate lab "Skip" is about 10 years old and developed pancreatitis for the first time. We took him to the doctor he never vomited or diahrea until the day after he got to the vets office. His amalyse was high like 8000 and his glucose and white blood count low but we got an ultrasound to make sure not cancer. He started to show improvements with the IV and antibiotic. Now a week later he is starting to decline and the vet has tried everything.
Avatar m tn My cat was DX w pancreatitius & met all symptoms for a few weeks / the meds worked but it got bad. Then a big turn happened. He started eating & now won't stop! His constant meowing is driving me crazy.he lost weight whwhen really sick. He is still underweight but why does he demand food 24/7? I'm so stressed out I can't think straight. Upset too if his DX was wrong we spent so much $$ on labs/meds. Now I'm not sure/don't think he has it! Help.
Avatar n tn I have read that gallbladder surgery is dangerous in the presence of pancreatitis and that the pancreatitis can also cause gallbladder disease or vice versa. Anyone had similar question?
Avatar f tn My 13 year old corgi mix was diagnosed with Pancreatitis 4 days ago. The anti biotic weren't improving her eating behavior and she seemed to be fading so today I took her to the vet and found out her kidneys were failing. They said they weren't sure if she'd recover but are keeping her for a few days to do a fluid flush. My question is will she pull through? Her BUN is 130 and her PHOS is 16.1. Does she have a chance? She was acting normal up until two days ago.
1727909 tn?1314845210 I'm having gallbladder pain and symptoms- has anyone gained weight after the surgery? And what is it about GB removal that makes you gain weight?
Avatar f tn Last year was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Am again suffering from similiar symptoms. Hospital told me not to eat till I saw family doctor. He told me not to eat for 3 days, drink water only. Symptoms got better starting eating carbs after that. 8months later and similiar symptoms, fatigue, bloating. Shall I assume the liquid diet for a few days? Not sure what the doctor or hospital will do other than tell me that and don't want to waste 12 hours in the ER again, let alone the cost.
Avatar n tn The endoscopy found mild gastritis. All other test are normal. The pancreatic specialist did not mention pancreatitis at the time and only prescribed nexium and sulcrafate for the gastritis. I am 67, and never had a previous bout with pancreatitis. Moderate beer drinker. How should I be treated?
Avatar f tn You may have chronic pancreatitis. Find a biliary specialist soon. You should get testing to determine if you have this or not. If you do they will advise you what to do to help.
Avatar n tn I had my first attack of acute pancreatitis last week. It was a mild attack. I spent a couple of days in the hospital on IV. I'm feeling much better and haven't had another painful attack. However, I still seem to have soreness on my left side, but not in the same location as the pancreatitis pain. My stomach is also still bloated. My attack was 5 days ago. My question is; is it normal to have some residual soreness after acute pancreatitis?
Avatar n tn If the clotting you were talking about IS disseminated intravascular coagulation, there is no cure for it, the only way to get rid of it is to cure whatever it is that started it, in this case, the pancreatitis. The fact that her pancreas has shrunk and her other levels are going down is a very good sign, but she still has a long way to go and will not be out of the woods, so to speak, for a while yet.
Avatar f tn //www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/pancreatitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20360227 It's my understanding that sometimes in severe scaring cases they will do surgery or use nerve blocks to help. But more information would be beneficial for more discussion.
Avatar m tn m not a big drinker, and in fact have had no alcohol (or any other vice) for probably 5 months in effort to lose weight. The symptoms are making me think chronic pancreatitis based on what I have read though I have had no symptoms like this prior to the initial event. Over the course of a few months, the symptoms do not seem to be worsening, which is good, but also not getting better.
