Avatar n tn aI'm posting this under general gastroenterology instead of Pancreatitis because I don't want something to get missed because of a myopic approach. In 1994, when I was 34 yrs old, I was diagnosed at Duke University Med. with pancreatitis. Pancreatitic and liver enzymes were all above 3000's. Since then I have fought chronic pancreatitis on an almost daily basis. It was considered unknown causes. I don't smoke or drink alcohol or take illicit drugs.
Avatar n tn Dear White male, Alterations in bowel pattern (constipation some days, diarrhea on others) is a common complaint that is usually not indicative of serious problems. the history of rectal bleeding may bethe result of straining at stool (when constipated) but it could also be a sign of colon mucosal disease e.g. inflammation or tumor. Even if you were asymptomatic, you are at the age when screening for colon cancer is indicated.

Avatar n tn Has anyone that has had gallbladder problems experienced anything similiar to what I am going thru? (or does this problem sound like something else?) Avatar n tn I'm having withdrawal symptoms I didn't expect. Light headedness, the runs, blood pressure going up, and general fatigue. Lots of fatigue. And some irritability. I am hoping that these symptoms begin to decrease soon. Well, they have gotten better than it was in the first 2 days. I am still wondering how long I can expect to have these side effects of withdrawal?
Avatar n tn Often times doctors remove the gallbladder assuming that will effect a cure, however, in many cases it does not. Talk with a doctor who understands this. A hida scan is important to determine at what percent your gallbladder is functioning.

Symptoms of a new illness presented in March, starting with a canker sore, and progressing to flu like symptoms. I noticed greenish/brown mucus and tooth pain and went to doctor for an anti-biotic (I think Bactrim). Avatar m tn Felt like I had food poisoning or something. It wasn't until I had pancreatitis that I figured out that I was having pancreatitis like attacks all along. Avatar n tn Hi, In hepatitis A the illness usually does not last longer than 2 months. But in about 10%–15% of persons have prolonged or relapsing signs and symptoms for up to 6 months. The causes can be related to extra hepatic disease or prolonged cholestasis.A virus infection can also serve as a trigger for the development of autoimmune hepatitis. An ultrasound should be performed to exclude biliary obstruction. Acute pancreatitis may be associated with acute viral hepatitis.

Avatar f tn Or it is all from constipation and bloating - if this is tzhe case, then avoid sugary foods and fibers (sugary fruits, like watermelon, beans and so...) Pancreatitis may occur at any age, e.g. from a gallstone which blocks pancreatic duct. First investigation is by ultrasound.
Avatar n tn If by insufficient pancreas you are referring to insufficient pancreatic enzyme production, you may want to speak with your doctor about supplementation with pancreatic enzymes which will often lead to improved digestion, especially of fats. However, if your current symptoms are due to pancreatitis, your doc will probably suggest you start off with a liquid diet and then slowly transition to more solid food over time.
