pancreatitis

Avatar f tn Ask your doctor to do a blood test for amylase & lipase levels.
Avatar f tn The thing that is hard with it is, which you have experienced, your scans can look normal and blood tests also and you still have pain, nausea, fatigue and the whole pancreatitis everything! The ER will not do anything about this because nothing is showing up on any of your tests and according to the its not an "emergency" so get to a GI fast! chronic pancreatitis is hard to diagnose so hang in there!
Avatar f tn In the past year I had two trips to the emergency room, both showing that I had a high level of pancreatic enzymes. I often have diarrhea, stomach pain, and loud uncomfortable rumbling. I have an appointment with a GI doctor in a week. Will they be able to help. But would could be wrong with me?
Avatar f tn I have a sharp burning pain just below my left rib, I can feel a burning sensation through to my back, it is a constant pain. Went to doctor he gave me medicine for a cough I had but the pain continues. This is 2 plus weeks and the pain has not gotten any better. I take pain reliever 5 to 6 times a day that helps a little. It feels like someone is stabbing me with a knife. Can you give me any information that might help?
675347 tn?1365460645 Some dogs can overindulge for years and suddenly develop pancreatitis. Symptoms of pancreatitis are vomiting, inability to keep down water, lack of appetite, lethargy and fever as the condition worsens. Treatment is mainly inpatient supportive care. The dog must have complete digestive rest which means nothing - not even water - by mouth. An IV is necessary for fluids, antibiotics and eventually nutrition if the condition persists more than a week - which it easily can do.
Avatar f tn The pain actually has gotten worse since since I’ve stopped the wine. The emergency room doctor thought it was a mild case of pancreatitis but my family doctor believes it’s an ulcer. I’ve been taking 40 mg of Prilosec as well as sucralfate. I’ve also been having some weight loss. I had a CT scan and everything came back normal as well as an ultrasound. Bloodwork looks good except for that Lipase panel. Trying to get into see a gastrologist but because of the coronavirus and not able to.
151462 tn?1359172276 I am currently having a lot of abdominal pain. Mainly in the upper left, and my lower right sides. The pain in both of these areas aren't constant, but appear to be sticking around more often in the last week. I have no gallbladder, so that isn't the issue. I have had pancreatitis (unknown cause) twice, but he last time was 11 years ago. It doesn't feel like pancreatitis as when I had that I lost a lot of weight, and I haven't lost any weight now.
Avatar n tn My dog had acute pancreatitis over the weekend and I took him to an emergency vet on Sunday and to his vet on Mon. They both kept him overnight, IV, blood work, meds, and his vet did a rectal x-ray and abdominal x-ray with barium to look for obstruction. He found dirt/sand. My dog ate cat poop covered in dirt. He is at home now doing fine and I have him on a bland diet of canned white chicken and brown rice only. However, his lower abd/belly is a little distended and hard.

Avatar n tn just remember pancreatitis is a progressive thing most the time, and taking away what triggers it will help..and MEDS...pain meds are truly needed to take away the pain for a better quality of life.
Avatar f tn I was given a CT scan, but my pancreas was normal. The only pain I have is rectal pain when I have to go, when I pass gas, and when I am sitting. I sometimes have pain in my lower left abdomen that comes and goes, usually have pain when I am sitting. I had surgery to remove uterine fibroids 2 weeks ago. The emergency room doctor said this may have caused an elevated lipase, but to have it rechecked by my doctor. What would cause an elevated lipase? What diseases cause elevated lipase?
Avatar m tn i have been having a pain in my upper back for about a month now. i have felt nausea in morings and dont feel like eating till the afternoon. these pains come and go whenever, for no reason. i would just like to get someones opinion oradvice please!!!
Avatar f tn re assuming the cysts are causing the pain - is it possible for them to be causing the pain and pancreatitis attacks? Or could there be something causing the cysts AND pain, such as a blockage or something? Chronic pancreatitis has been ruled out- doc says there are no signs of chronic and each attack was just acute. He hasn't consumed ANY alcohol since feb (after 2nd attack), but does smoke ciggarettes (though cutting down to close to nothing).
Avatar m tn On Friday the pain gotten worse again with Sulphur Burps, Farting and Abdominal Pain. Late Friday night and early Saturday morning the pain gotten worse with farts becoming worse, and had diarrhea (only happened once). Avatar m tn My schnauzer has pancreatitis. She's the second one I've had with pancreatitis. My first one lived with it for 9 years. The pancreas actually acts as if it's digesting itself. That causes horrible pain that radiates to the back and down the leg. A good thing to feed is boiled chicken breast and boiled white rice in the chicken broth water. Pedialyte popsicles are good to give them. I'm also a retired nurse.

Avatar f tn This past Sun night I had an onset of extreme cramping, vomiting and diarrhea, I went to the emergency room that night and stayed there for about 6 hrs. They took blood tests and did a CT scan and said that I probably had food poisoning. The next day I still felt sick but seemed to be getting better. Then on Tues, I went to the doctor for a checkup, they took blood and she said it was probably ecoli..... Since Tues... I have developed this pain under my right rib cage...

Avatar f tn would anything other then pancreatitis cause epigastric pain that radiates to the back?,,,that comes and goes. i get it,but i dont get the throwing up,or the hospital visits i hear about from pancreatitis. i have not lost weight, dont throw up,the pain feels like a cramp in my diahpram, goes into back,,ive had amalyes/lipase checked,2 ct scans with barrium and iodine contrast, and they dont see anything,,,no stones, enlargments, hernia, nothingwhat elce could this be? would spyincter of oddi do this?
Avatar f tn So in July, I had my gallbladder taken out only to feel worse. August I ended up in the Emergency Room twice due to the severe pain, only to find that with the pain, my liver enzymes were 4x the normal range. I was then referred to a Gastroentrologist. I then had an endoscopy which showed some gastritis and a hiatal hernia. The GI doctor then wanted to complete an ERCP which is a detailed and more in dept endoscopy to check for possible bile duct stone. Again nothing...I am lost for words now.
229538 tn?1300377767 Is she on pain meds? sounds like pancreatitis is quite painful and its a good idea to use pain control to promote healing. for long term pain control the most recommended opiate is BUPRENEX or TRAMADOL for cats. good pain control would also make her feel more like eating, but on the other hand loss of appetite can be a side effect of some of the medications...so need good Vet advice there. Are you assist feeding her? If she is not eating well, hepatic lipidosis is a very serious worry.
