Pancreatitis on ct scan

Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis on ct scan

459325 tn?1274758674 Hi, CT scan is the investigation of choice for diagnosing pancreatitis. Moreover lipase though is increased in pancreatitis does not remain persistently high and it returns to baseline level in a couple of days. So I would suggest that you have CT scan of the abdomen done. ================================================================ The information provided is for patients’ education only and is not a medical advice.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with inflammed pancreas which showed up on CT scan at emergency room. Since being released from hospital I keep having minor attacks of pain, but they seem to be getting worse. I am weak also. I do not drink. It does not seem to be related to what I eat. I am 6' and weigh 200lbs. Doctors are stumped. Does anyone have any experience with symptoms of pancreatic cancer?
Avatar n tn I have had all kinds of tests including several CT abdominal scans over the years. On the last scan I had they read that I had an accessory spleen and that was never mentioned before. I also have bloating and major pain when I eat. My abdomen gets hard and feels very extended. The pain is now going up my shoulder blade and into my hip. Can you tell me if I should worry about having chronic pancreatits or pancreatic cancer?
Avatar f tn (not my insurer). From their CT scan I was told I had pancreatitis, lipids and amylase where also high. I followed up with my insurance provider's GI specialist and an ultrasound, they were unable to provide me with any diagnosis..
Avatar n tn I have been having discomfort in my stomach area, especially the right side, and back ache that moves up and down, since January. I have had ultra sound, upper GI, Endoscopy, CT scan, MRI, MRCP. Hida Scan, back xrays, and all the lab work, that includes blood test for pancreas and liver. They did find two side branch lesions about 1 cm each in the pancreas. The radiologist and my pancreatic specialist said they need to be monitored and no real concern at this time.
Avatar f tn People with CP often end up taking digestive enzymes to help digest food and they often are advised to eat very low fat and avoid alcohol and smoking. You can have flares of acute pancreatitis so always go to er if you feel it coming on.
Avatar n tn If you had Pancreatitis you would know it! The pain is normally starts out on your RIGHT side underneath your ribcage. Eventually the pain will shoot through the middle of your stomach and to your back. It is the most god awful pain you will ever experience in your life. In my opinion it was worse than any labor pains I ever experience. Read down farther in this forum. TazLady has posted many things in regards to Pancreatitis as well as Concerned Lady.
Avatar n tn There is a distinct possibility that this could be pancreatitis again, based on your previous history. After having it once, some people seem to be more prone to having repeated attacks, and then often they develop chronic pancreatitis as a result. And yes, it can just come out of the blue like that, but it's more likely that SOMETHING triggered this episode, you just haven't been able to identify what it is. The pain does radiate to the back with an attack.
Avatar f tn I am really worried that this was liver disease and/or acute pancreatitis. GI doctor says that based on ultrasound, CT scan, endoscopy and MRCP, there is no way that this abdominal pain is related to liver disease and/or pancreatitis. My job requires a lot of travel and entertaining (i.e. social drinking). GI doctor said that there is "no risk" from social drinking, and I am safe to get back to "work". Does this sound right?
Avatar m tn i am a 27 yr old female, with more pancreatitis attacks then i can count in the last year and a half. ive been accused of a frivilious life style which is so far from the truth. ive had every test known for this condition. in the last 2 months i was put on a protien suppliment to replace my emzymes that my pancreas produces. in the first 2 wks i lost 20 lbs, had no appetite, liquid bowel movements, dizziness, fatique, discoloring of the skin, and more symptoms i can even list.
9258519 tn?1404472125 Next Monday I am going for a CT on my heart. I have been told that because its my heart, I can't go into the scan feet first but not to worry because I will have headphones on and I can communicate with the person doing the scan. This doesn't pacify me because when my sister had pancreatitis, she started to be sick whilst in the scanner and desperately tried to communicate with the operator. She ended up trying to fight her way out of the machine.
Avatar f tn I guess my main question is a CT scan a good test and would it have showed something on the pancreas if it was there? I know that most of the time a person with PC doesn't experience any symptoms until the disease is way advanced, I understand the reason why the person experiences stomach and back pain is because the tumor is so large that it's pressing on the stomach and back since the pancreas is directly behind the stomach.
Avatar f tn my mother in law recently had a ct scan of the chest, abdomen and pelvis without contrast. and it says indiction: restaging small cell lung just going to type what most of it says. just need someone to put it into terms not doc jargon... findings in the chest: remains signigicant abnormal soft tissue involving the left aortopulmonary window, the subcarinal region, the left hilum, and the precarinal region. stable to slightly more prominent compared to previous scan.
Avatar n tn They did a CT scan and ran several blood test. My CT scan showed a mass (4mm) on the tail of my pancreas. My lipase and amylase were slightly elevated. I also had masses in my kidneys, which is a symptom of AIP. My doctors at first thought it was cancer, and rushed me to a pancreatic cancer specialist in Seattle. I had 2 ERCPs done, but they just showed nacrotic cells.
Avatar f tn One doc says get my gall baldder out ( because CT scan showed stones that had been there since last scan in 2005' ) Other doc says no, leave them alone... Another wants to do the ERCP next ?? I am not sure what to do ! Or who to see ... I feel so very alone and really scared ..
Avatar m tn I was given a CT scan and put on an IV and fed only ice chips. They wanted to do an EGD to test for ulcers but i refused the test because i was not comfortable with it at the time. The doctors told me that my medication Lisinopril was causing the pancreatitis.I was then released from the hospital the next day, 24th of December,09 because the doctor said there was nothing more they could do for me and there was no reason for to be there.
Avatar n tn spasiming pain ' thats tolerable for now directly in my left ribs. While I was there they did a CT scan-negative except for fatty liver, Abdominal Ultrasound -negative ,MRCP negative,EGD negative. I also had a Hida scan that was abnormal -Impression: prompt uptake in the gallbladder with a 18% ejection fraction: suggestive of Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction or Gallbladder disease.I also itch sometimes where the pain areas are on my back & ribs.
Avatar f tn I was given a CT scan, but my pancreas was normal. The only pain I have is rectal pain when I have to go, when I pass gas, and when I am sitting. I sometimes have pain in my lower left abdomen that comes and goes, usually have pain when I am sitting. I had surgery to remove uterine fibroids 2 weeks ago. The emergency room doctor said this may have caused an elevated lipase, but to have it rechecked by my doctor. What would cause an elevated lipase? What diseases cause elevated lipase?
Avatar m tn I currently still am experiencing slight pain on my right side. I have been seen by a GI doctor and a CT Scan, Ultra sound, MRCP have been performed. No issues have been found, I asked if it could be cancer and was told no tumors or cist we found wehn reviewing the xrays. We then tried to stop my BP meds thinking they could be the cause, but I could not stay off of them long enough to make a determination. I did have a drinking problem a few years back but I seem to have that under control.
Avatar n tn I have bouts of pain with my pancreas. I just had a CT Scan and found no cancer, tumors or psudocysts. YEAH for me. I hope you can find a good surgeon to help you with this. My son was only 7 or 8 when I got sick. He is handeling it very well. You girls will too. Let them be a part of your life, tell them whats going on (of course only to a point) but they need to be prepared in case something happens and you need to be hospitalized for something.
Avatar f tn The 2nd time the emergency room had the gastro doc look at the ct scan and the doc wanted to see him right away and the ER was told to admit him.
318529 tn?1201904896 The pain has gotten better..she started me on Nexium which alleviated the epigastric pain. CT scan came back with pancreas unremarkable as well as all the other organs were normal. The pain is much better just a twinge from time to time however, I have majorly changed my diet hardly any fat less than 25g/day I never was a drinker, did take ibuprofen a lot for headaches, backaches, menstrual cramps but thats it no other prescription meds.

Avatar f tn I also had a CT scan and it did not show anything except for pancreatitis. In your opinion, the best thing would be to remove the pancreas???
Avatar f tn I had my gallbladder removed over one year ago. One week after having it removed I began to have abdominal pain that hurt through to my back. It is very painful and nothing helps. I've had multiple tests done and 2 ERCP's. After the first ERCP the pain stayed gone for 2 months and then returned. After 2nd ERCP, I ended up in the hospital with pain and fever. My CT scan was normal and so were my A&L levels.
Avatar n tn That said, from the information I've read, Pancreatic cancer is often hard to diagnosis and small tumors can be missed on CT scans. I'm just looking for advice from anyone familiar with the symptoms of chronic pancreatitis, or PC, who might be able to offer any advice. I've got an appt w/a gastro. in December but that's pretty far away, and in the meantime, I feel kind of helpless as the abdominal/back pain, floating stools, and fatigue aren't going anywhere.
Avatar m tn My father went in for a Whipple procedure in Jan of 08. He was told that the tumor was not resectable and that he had pancreatic cancer even though the biopsy were neg. About a week later he became very ill. He was unable to eat and if he did he would vomit this vial green vomit. This went on for about 2-3 months. Prior to this he became jaundice and had sever itching and pustcules all over.
Avatar f tn The GI is thinking now my hiatal hernia may be an issue, as I'm still having bad stomach pain, or some twisting or obstruction. I now am getting a CT scan and then a gastric emptying scan, had blood work done and having to see a surgeon about laprascopic surgery. I'm completely out of sick time for the year and can't miss another day of work for the rest of the year so having surgery or even being hospitalized is totally out of the question if I don't want to be fired.
