Pancreatitis on ct scan

Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis on ct scan

pancreatitis

Avatar f tn I am really worried that this was liver disease and/or acute pancreatitis. GI doctor says that based on ultrasound, CT scan, endoscopy and MRCP, there is no way that this abdominal pain is related to liver disease and/or pancreatitis. My job requires a lot of travel and entertaining (i.e. social drinking). GI doctor said that there is "no risk" from social drinking, and I am safe to get back to "work". Does this sound right?
Avatar m tn So ive been having lots of bouts of pancreatitus lately and now my dr. has ordered a CT scan? What could he possibly be looking for? I certainly hope it's not this. A little back ground. Im 28 years old i smoke and have done so since i was 16 if not younger. I drink like a fish which i have immediately suspended with my latest bout of pancreatitus 3 days ago that continues to today.
Avatar f tn I have a history of acute recurrent Pancreatitis over 10years long, with dual Sphincterotomies done 9 months ago that also resulted in a retroperitoneal small bowel perforation and ongoing frequent attacks of acute Pancreatitis. My ampulla goes into a diverticulum in the small bowel. A Triple phase CT Scan done today shows air in the intrahepatic radicals, and in the bile duct, which is dilated to 8.8 mms. There is also air in the Pancreatic Duct which is mildly dilated in the head 4.
Avatar f tn Pancreatitis will be unlikely given the normal CT scan as well as normal amylase and lipase levels. I would consider looking at various causes of upper GI disease, including an ulcer, inflammation of the stomach and esophagus, or GERD. An upper endoscopy would be the next recommended test, and can be discussed with your personal physician. Avatar n tn An ultrasound was done of my gallbladder and it was normal as was the CT scan of my pancreas. My doctor still thinks I have gallbladder disease and ordered a HITA scan done. I have no symptoms of gallbladder problems, but the scan from what I could see and from comments by the technician indicated almost no contraction, a large gallbladder, and from what I could see no emptying of the gallbladder. I don't have the actual results yet, but was surprised because of lack of symptoms.
Avatar n tn I had a acute pancreatitis attack verified by a ct scan but my amylase and lipase levels never elevated above normal. My white blood cell count did go up significantly. I have a history of heavy drinking but have been alcohol free for almost 2 years. Gallbladder is questionalble with sludge but no inflamation. Doctors are mystified about the low enzyme levels and what to do next.
Avatar n tn I have been having discomfort in my stomach area, especially the right side, and back ache that moves up and down, since January. I have had ultra sound, upper GI, Endoscopy, CT scan, MRI, MRCP. Hida Scan, back xrays, and all the lab work, that includes blood test for pancreas and liver. They did find two side branch lesions about 1 cm each in the pancreas. The radiologist and my pancreatic specialist said they need to be monitored and no real concern at this time.
Avatar m tn I did a CT Scan and MRI in my pancreas and the results were inflamation but my blood test 19-9 came to 133. What does this mean? Cancer or infammation of the pancreas? .
Avatar m tn How serious is pancreatitis. The CT scan and sonogram said that they did not notice any problems in the pancreas. Is this problem fixable. Also is the birth control pills possible a reason for this. I am trying to figure out how to prevent this in her as She is not an alcoholic drinker either.
Avatar n tn They did a CT scan and ran several blood test. My CT scan showed a mass (4mm) on the tail of my pancreas. My lipase and amylase were slightly elevated. I also had masses in my kidneys, which is a symptom of AIP. My doctors at first thought it was cancer, and rushed me to a pancreatic cancer specialist in Seattle. I had 2 ERCPs done, but they just showed nacrotic cells.
543435 tn?1282242679 Has any doctor ever suggested he may have chronic pancreatitis? You can have chronic pancreatitis and have flares of acute pancreatitis. This can be hereditary or from drinking or many other reasons. If you have this disease then you are unable to digest a lot of food. Sticking to a low fat diet and taking specially prescribed enzymes to help digest food seems to help some people with this. Usually a diagnosis is made from an endoscopic ultrasound procedure or from CT scan.
Avatar f tn I had my gallbladder removed over one year ago. One week after having it removed I began to have abdominal pain that hurt through to my back. It is very painful and nothing helps. I've had multiple tests done and 2 ERCP's. After the first ERCP the pain stayed gone for 2 months and then returned. After 2nd ERCP, I ended up in the hospital with pain and fever. My CT scan was normal and so were my A&L levels.
Avatar m tn Focal pancreatitis may be acute or chronic depending on the symptoms present. Chronic pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas that does not heal or improve, gets worse over time, and leads to permanent damage while acute pancreatitis presents with sudden swelling and inflammation of the pancreas that resolves in a couple of weeks. It is best that you discuss your management plan with your attending physician also for proper evaluation.
Avatar n tn A couple days ago I had an ultrasound on my stomach b/c of some abdominal pain and back pain. I then had a CT scan due to a spot found on my liver..They found a mass on the right lobe of my liver measuring 9.0 x 8.3 in size. The G.I. says that he beleives it is focal nudlar hyperplasia. It is a constant pain right below my rib cage and in my lower back, sometimes through my stomach. I take darvocet for the pain but it doesnt seem to help me through the night.I cant get comfortable.
Avatar m tn Back in August and September, I was having persistent pain and discomfort in my right abdomen and my right lower/mid back and love handle area right below the rig cage. It seemed to move between those areas through the day and lasted for weeks. I went to the doctor and my blood tests were normal as well as an abdominal ultrasound. It eventually stopped for a few months but now has been back for the last three months and pretty much every day now.
1458115 tn?1287616056 i hadnt felt any pain around this reigon for months, and at that the pain was as if id been punched in the gut and winded, im not sure how its suppose to feel, anyway since these levels where high i had a ct scan and an mri scan, which both showed my common bile duct was dilated and while the doctors thought it most commonly must be a gallstone lodged in it the mri ro ct scan showed no cause for the dilation....
Avatar f tn Thank you for the info, I appreciate knowing that there can be multiple causes, or just something to keep an eye on. I had a followup CT scan, which came out that my pancreas is ok, afterall! What a relief!
Avatar f tn I also had a CT scan and it did not show anything except for pancreatitis. In your opinion, the best thing would be to remove the pancreas???
Avatar n tn I have had all kinds of tests including several CT abdominal scans over the years. On the last scan I had they read that I had an accessory spleen and that was never mentioned before. I also have bloating and major pain when I eat. My abdomen gets hard and feels very extended. The pain is now going up my shoulder blade and into my hip. Can you tell me if I should worry about having chronic pancreatits or pancreatic cancer?
Avatar n tn I did a CT Scan and MRI in my pancreas and the results were inflamation but my blood test 19-9 came to 133. What does this mean? Cancer or infammation of the pancreas?
9258519 tn?1404468525 I suffer from acute claustrophobia, so much so, I have been known to panic when getting dressed/undressed and have to pull an item of clothing over my head. Next Monday I am going for a CT on my heart. I have been told that because its my heart, I can't go into the scan feet first but not to worry because I will have headphones on and I can communicate with the person doing the scan.
Avatar f tn I was given a CT scan, but my pancreas was normal. The only pain I have is rectal pain when I have to go, when I pass gas, and when I am sitting. I sometimes have pain in my lower left abdomen that comes and goes, usually have pain when I am sitting. I had surgery to remove uterine fibroids 2 weeks ago. The emergency room doctor said this may have caused an elevated lipase, but to have it rechecked by my doctor. What would cause an elevated lipase? What diseases cause elevated lipase?
Avatar n tn I went home and that night took my temp 99.4 and thought that was a fever. They set me up for a ct scan and told me I had pancreatitis? I went to norwood urgent care and they hooked me to a IV and that was that . I have not had any pain or vominting, lost weight becausebof liquid diet and anxiety. Can someone please tell me if this will happen again or if I should do a follow up with a GI specialist???

Avatar f tn Severe middle abdominal pain, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite. Lost 30 lbs in two months. CT scan, xrays showed nothing, but ultrasound showed dilated bile duct. Had gallbladder removed in 2003. Could the dilated bile duct be causing these symptoms? Wouldn't a blockage of the bile duct show up in the CT scan if that were the cause? Having endoscopy in a few days, but still sick and wondering what can be done if the bile duct is the culprit.
Avatar n tn There is a cyst forum listed, if you go there , those ladies are more apt to talk to you and help you. 95% of Ovarian cysts are benign, this forum is mainly for those with OVCA.
