Pancreatitis kidney problems

Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis kidney problems

pancreatitis

Avatar n tn I recently had a bout of acute pancreatitis that resolved in about 2-3 days. I had been eating a pretty high fat diet for a few days and was taking tylenol 3 for a dental procedure. AP was verified via CT w/contrast but my panc enzymes remained normal throughout the attack. I am concerened that the attack may be a sign of a cronic conditon due to my previous history of alchohol. The CT scan did not show anything other than the hazy pancreas, impression pancreatitis.
Avatar n tn Within the last two years she has been diagnosed with kidney stones, anemia, pancreatitis, hypokalemia, mixed connective tissue disease, asthma, raynauds disease, mono, bronchitis, pleurisy, pericarditis, chostochondritis, uti's, kidney infections...She has had a fever for weeks...The drs say her potassium is dangerously low and they've given her multiple IV's with potassium, but it hasn't helped make any improvements.
658828 tn?1225046595 She tested my urine for a kidney infection b/c of the back pain but there was nothing indicative of an infection. I do not have any symptoms of kidney or liver problems (believe I have read about them!) No jaundice, edema, loss of appetite. I have gained weight not lost it! If I feel down below my rib cage on my back, it is tender to the touch. My kidney area and upper back hurts badly and it feels kind of like a burning sensation, even my shoulder blades hurt.
20820562 tn?1524877846 She was constipated and vomiting. The vet took blood work that showed she had pancreatitis and kidney disease. Her BUN was 76 and creatinine 5.6. Her pancreatic function numbers were (Am) 2148 and (LP) 2792. She was on IV fluids overnight and her numbers barely changed for her kidneys but her pancreas function numbers were (Am) 441 and (LP)550.
Avatar n tn 4 months ago I had my gallbladder removed after being hospitalized for 3 days with a severe attack which turned into pancreatitis. I also have kidney disease which was diagnosed 15 years ago. Since my surgery I have suffered from severe heartburn, nausea and diarrhea. Often waking up in the middle of the night to vomit. My stools are either black or often green usually no more that liquid. Is there anything I can do to eliminate the need to stay close to home after eating a meal?
Avatar f tn I truly feel like the change in diet triggered her pancreatitis which caused her kidney values to shoot through the roof (when we put her in the hospital, they were literally off the chart). We get to pick her up today. I definitely don't want to feed her anymore of the NF food. I checked out some of your recipes which I am more than willing to try, but I want to make sure it doesn't affect her pancreatitis. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn Hi. You are very welcome. This is quite a complicated mix of problems ... kidney disease and pancreatitis ... although it's more common than you might think. The management of it can be an issue, and diet is crucial. It presents a bit of a chicken or egg scenario. Which occurred first? If the pancreatitis is acute, then it's likely the kidney disease occurred first and the pancreatitis is the result of the kidney failure.
Avatar n tn If there is a suspicion of gall bladder, pancreas or kidney problems, an ultrasound of the gall bladder or pancreas, or a CAT scan of your abdomen, may also be performed. •You may be at risk for pancreatitis if you are: •Extremely overweight (obese) •Have high triglyceride levels in your blood •Drink too much alcohol •Have been diagnosed with gall bladder stones (which may block the flow of secretions from the pancreas to the intestines) •Or have a family history of pancreatitis.
Avatar m tn I'm a 27yr old Male, So in late 2015 I lost my left kidney (Trauma Nephrectomy) due to a bmx accident, I was a pretty big drinker up until the accident and now I drink anywhere between 15-30 standards through out the week, mainly on weekends, I was wondering if this will ever effect me and around what age area and what is likely to happen if something does, my liver is known to be 100%

Avatar f tn My dog is 17 1/2 (old I know), and last year he had a bad pancreatitis attack that led to kidney failure. After being put on IV fluids for 3 days, he got much better and the kidney failure actually went away. However the same thing happened yet again a week ago.
Avatar f tn by December instead of January I am 24 weeks and 3days or should talk doctor at my next about inducing me I have kidney problems and some times it could take a toll on me
1674610 tn?1317002220 Welcome to the gastroenterology community! Pancreatitis is usually caused by gallstones or alcohol. Pancreatitis can't turn into pancreatic cancer but people who already have pancreatic cancer, can get pancreatitis which is why you and your mother had the same symptoms.
Avatar f tn I am struggling with several issues associated with management of kidney disease in my 18 year old terrier mix rescue dog, who was diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease 5 weeks ago, on the heels of an episode of acute pancreatitis. He had been on metacam for osteoarthritis (elbow, spine, hips) for about 2 years, so we have been monitoring his blood work at least every 6 months. His creatinine had been creeping up slowly, but entered the abnormal zone at 1.
Avatar f tn My 8 year old dog has late stage chronic kidney failure. She was diagnosed just over three weeks ago. We were shocked to hear this news because she just started showing signs of nausea about a week earlier (no other signs before). BUN 83, Creatinine 6.0, and Phosphorus 8.5 (her levels lowered after 48 hours of IV). She is anemic and has pancreatitis and a UTI as well. She has been struggling with loss of appetite (weight loss) and vomiting.
10821430 tn?1439580883 I asked about PLE but guess no one has that information? After reading online about both...it now seems possible there is yet another problem this might be...(?) we have a limited amount of "good" veterinarians here,I understand no one can diagnose but wondering if someone has some general information that might offer insight? I have a 10 yr. old neutred Yorkie,Monday he had loose stools, low appetite, lethargic but drinking normal, urinating normal,I thought an upset stomach, temp.
Avatar n tn also,,,if she had undertermined gallbladder problems, well, that can lead to pancreas problems..i have a bud that is kinda going through the same thing,so i have educated mysefl on this subject to better understand his issues.
Avatar m tn s either digestive issues (IBS or Pancreatitis etc) or maybe kidney issues. Or maybe even oral problems.......Not sure if there's other symptoms. If she's drinking and urinating a lot it could be diabetes but also kidney problems have those same symptoms. I think with hyperthyroid everything speeds up so she would be eating a lot and still losing weight and drinking a lot and peeing a lot and pooping a lot and meowing a lot and not sleeping well etc.
Avatar f tn My appendix ruptured 2 yrs ago and I have had numerous problems since. I have abdominal distention, squeezing pain that starts in abdomen and moves up my body to my neck, drilling feeling behind lower left ribs, extreme fatigue, pain in abdomen, pain in joints, swelling, etc.. I have "a bunch" of Esophogeal Ulcurs and an inflamed stomach, this issue was addressed. I have been to several Dr.'s that don't seem to CARE about ME as a whole.
Avatar n tn It will not affect your Stent, but excessive drinking will lead to Heart damage, Liver damage, Kidney damage, Brain damage, Pancreatitis and all kinds of problems. So in a week, you can sensibly drink up to 21 units. A unit is a standard measure given in a bar.
Avatar n tn I have had pancreas problems for almost 2yrs with no definite diagnosis. Initially I had a bad gallbladder, it was removed. Amylase was high then and has never returned to normal, I have severe upper abdominal pain sometimes that lasts from a few seconds to a few minutes. Most of the time it wakes me up at night, then other times I have mild nagging pain with low grade fever that lasts for a week or more. I have had several CTs, US, MRCP,EGD.
Avatar f tn High concentrations of GGT are found in the liver, bile ducts, and the kidney. Hence kidney and urinary problems could be causing the high GGT level. Greater-than-normal levels of GGT may indicate: congestive heart failure, cholestasis (congestion of the bile ducts), cirrhosis, hepatitis, liver ischemia (blood flow deficiency), liver necrosis, liver tumor, high alcohol intake, use of hepatotoxic drugs (drugs toxic to liver).

Avatar n tn I had to put my 11 year old Llhasa apso to sleep yesterday because he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and was in so much pain that they could not guarantee that he would survive even with treatment. It came on suddenly...he was fine Saturday but began throwing up in the middle of the night and continued...he couldn't even hold down water and was very weak. I took him into the veterinary hospital on Sunday and he was too weak to come home.
