pancreatitis

Avatar n tn I have had acute pancreatitis and now have chronic pancreatitis, so maybe I can answer some of your questions. Some symptoms of pancreatitis include a swollen and tender abdomen, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, sometimes a fever and rapid pulse. Weight loss is frequent. The nausea, pain and vomiting often follows a meal of some sort, and can be triggered more severely by foods heavy in fats. Often there is pain in the abdomen and between the ribs at the base of the sternum.
Avatar n tn Has anyone ever had pancreatitis? I am wondering if I this is what is causing my left side pain under my rib cage. This appears at any time of day or night and lasts several hours. The pain feels like I have been running and got a side ache almost under my breast. My doctor has not suggested this, he is trying to ignore my symptoms for some reason. He found a small liver cyst, 2 weeks ago and then sent me for blood work.

Avatar n tn There's no infection, slightly elevated temp (102.2), rapid heart beat (ofcourse, she's in terrible pain), she's more comfortable sitting or standing than she is laying down..She's exhausted, and so am I.. She's on meloxicam for the pain and the last vet put her on baytril. She's not getting any better but she's not worse either..She's been in so much pain for so long that I'm scared to think she may give up...
Avatar n tn Sorry to hear about your little girl. I too have a 9 year old with pancreatitis. We suspect that strep or any infection, or maybe the antibiotics associated with the infections, seem to trigger an attack. My daughter was diagnosed when she was 5, they did the MRI and found a blocked duct. We live in Maryland, and are lucky enough to have two gastric surgeons in our area who perform procedures on children. We see Dr.
Avatar m tn Basically I was told that I would have to ride it out and it would last about 12 weeks....and that it is generally due to an unknown infection. The dermatologist was right....it took about 12 weeks to clear up. The lower back pain lessened but become concentrated on the left side...pushing the lowest rib on the left back will create a nice jolt of pain.
Avatar n tn Hi, Gastroenteritis, peptic ulcer, Helicobacter pylori infection, pancreatitis, gall stones, Crohn’s disease all can cause infection in the stomach. What are the symptoms your cousin has been having? Difficulty in swallowing can relate to esophageal problem.Vomiting, dyspepsia may indicate stomach problems. Altered bowel habits are seen in diseases affecting the intestines.

Avatar n tn hi, after my 1st delivery in march 2006, i was diagnoses of gall bladder stones in feb 2007. with infection spread within, i was treated for pancreatitis and also gall bladder was removed in july 2007. in jan 2008 i had a reoccurance of pancraetitis. with several tests done and round of antiboitics, i was discharged saying there was an infection which caused reoccurance. Now i am 5 weeks pregnant. my worry is that what would happen to may baby if i get another attack of pancreatitis.
Avatar f tn However, broad-spectrum antibiotics, and other antimicrobials should be used to cover possible infectious causes such as toxoplasmosis infection, and to cover infections secondary to the pancreatitis, if warrented. Treatment of pancreatitis in cats include the following: For Anorexia (not eating), use appetite stimulant medications. For Dehydration, use IV and/or Sub Q fluid therapy, For Hypothermia (dangerously decreased body heat), use incubators, heating pad, etc.
559187 tn?1330786456 Has anyone here ever had pancreatitis? If so, did you have it after getting your MS diagnosis? I am wondering how much of an impact, if any, did the this affect your MS symptoms? I can't possibly believe that this could trigger yet another MS relapse as I feel I paid my dues with the relapse hat just preceeded the pancreatits, but is it possible? Thanks.
Avatar n tn My 5 yr old son is battling pancreatitis for the second time, one year after the first battle. His enzyme levels tonight are unbelievable and scary...amylase 1823...lipase 7088! Is there some kind of explaination when trauma, viral, and infection are ruled out? What are the lasting ramifications of his levels getting this high? How dangerous is it that these levels are this high? And how lasting are the dangers?
Avatar f tn This causes the enzymes to irritate the cells of your pancreas, causing inflammation and the signs and symptoms associated with pancreatitis. With repeated bouts of acute pancreatitis, damage to the pancreas can occur and lead to chronic pancreatitis. Scar tissue may form in the pancreas, causing loss of function. A poorly functioning pancreas can cause digestion problems and diabetes.
Avatar f tn I saw my gp who poked and prodded the drain site, squeezing it saying I had an infection. I went to the hospital because my upper left quadrant in my back was excruciating and the fluid wouldn't stop. That's when they tested the fluid and saw that it was pancreatic. Also checked my lipates which came back normal and gave me an ultrasound which showed I had a collection at the tail of my pancreas.
Avatar n tn However, I visited a urologist today who does not feel that I have a kidney stone and prescribed antibiotics for a possible urinary tract infection. However, I am still experiencing intermittent left side pain and have had three bowel movements today that were narrow and gray (almost colorless). I am concerned that this may be a sign of pancreatic problems, but I don't want to overreact. How many of these type of bowel movements should I have before I call the doctor. Is this an emergency?
Avatar n tn pancreas shows a mass or pancreatitis. She is looking yellowish...does not drink much water as a norm...is in the hospital. Had MRSA and was receiving antibotics for infection, steroids for asthma and pain, calcium for the bones. What can we do as a family to make sure she is getting the right medical care and follow-up besides keeping up with the doctors and researching.
Avatar n tn Hi My brother is suffering from "pancreatitis ". Before suffering this test, he was having "jandice". As Jandice was not coming to control then, he admitted to hospital. There they did few diagnosis like endoscope. After this he is started heavy stomac pain and also breatging problem. Then he moved to "Gastroenterology" special hospital, there confirmed that , he is having pancreatitis.
Avatar n tn We just this week found out that she has 2 parasites and a bacterial infection in her gut. Not sure which came first the parasite or the pancreatitis - or if they are even related. It took us months going through "regular" GI doc - they never even suggested doing a stool sample because she did not have the typical symptoms (diarrhea mainly) for a parasite. We finally brought her to a highly recommended homeopathic doc who found this in pretty short order.
701334 tn?1262857103 2 ct scans with barrium and iodine contrast. full blood panel amalayes/lipase infection stool no gullstones/no hiatal hernia no enlargments of any organs. they gave me fluids/pain medecine shot, and sent me home,,i was better in 1 days time....and diahrea stopped. this happened 2 times one month apart. i am 34 5-8 215 lbs.
Avatar n tn My Dr. said I may have mild chronic pancreatitis. Does anyone know exacactly what this is?
Avatar n tn Weeks ago, I had a spiral CT Scan which showed nothing abnormal, and my amylase/lipase blood tests have come back as normal, stool samples ruled out parasitic infection, and my doctor has flat out told me he doesn't believe it's pancreatic cancer, as that's my primary concern considering the symptoms. That said, from the information I've read, Pancreatic cancer is often hard to diagnosis and small tumors can be missed on CT scans.
6472661 tn?1381772732 Her doggy Dr. said she thought it was pancreatitis. Dr. put her on anitbiotics for any secondary infection and said to give her Mylanta 3x a day. Also precscription i/d dog food starting the next day for two days then back to regular food. Then on Monday with her regular Nutro Venison and rice food she got worse. Called my vet that night he said back to i/d dog food and half a baby aspirin for pain. Maybe not her pancreas maybe a virus.
902019 tn?1249865014 I was diagnosed 2 years ago with AIP, have a 25 year history of autoimmune disorders (eosinophilic vasculitis, mild Sjogren's). Usually have done well with prednisone for the various flare-ups but with AIP, still recurring symptoms and the elevated IgG4 periodically. Next step may be Imuran. Is there anyone out there who has had good results with Imuran for autoimmune pancreatitis?
Avatar n tn I have recently (finally) been diagnosed with Chronic Pancreatitis. The diagnosis was not made until I underwent a secretin (spelling?) test in March. At that time I was told that my bicarbonate level was within normal range, but that the amount digestive enzymes I produce is well below the normal range. Unfortunately I cannot remember the amount I was told and I have not actually seen the doctor since I had the test done. I don't go back to see him until 6/17.
Avatar n tn My 10 year old schnoodle was recently diagnosed with pancreatitis. Tests showed many of her organs were swollen and inflamed and her heart was not beating properly. This was only a about 10 days ago. She is still recovering, but to my alarm, I find her vision has also suddenly deteriorated. What could possibly have caused all of these things to go so wrong so fast? She has been a very healthy dog all of her life, until this. I can't imagine why everything has gone wrong at once. Please help.
Avatar m tn After several rounds of antibiotics form a septic infection. she developed a severe stomach condition. Pain she describes as 10 times worse than a SCD crisis. Her SCD seems to be unrelated to the current issue. If she tries to eat she vomits bile orange and green bile. They have done an EGD and said she has Gastritis because she has a few non H pylori "raw spots" in her stomach. This has all been going on for 3 weeks now and she said she cannot live like this much longer.
Avatar n tn This sounds more like an acute Pancreatitis attack. Chronic Pancreatitis, to my knowledge, does not have the type symptoms you indicate. Acute pancreatitis has high levels of amalase and lipase and is sometimes very critical as this one appears to be. Do a search on the web for acute Pancreatitis for more information than you can read. Then do one on Chronic Pancreatitis and see the differences. Hope things improve.
