Pancreatitis in boxers

Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis in boxers

Avatar f tn Reglan (metoclopromadine) is a very cheap medication, unfortunately, it is also metabolized in the kidneys, so a too high dose results in toxic levels in the blood. My husband and I discovered that completely bypassing the GI tract by using reglan injections worked much better in the end. Chica didn't get the extra pyramidal side effects (extreme restlessness, shaking and trembling) from the reglan injections that she got from the oral meds.
931217 tn?1283484935 The true incidence of pancreatitis is unknown, and although autopsy surveys have found evidence of inflammation in anywhere from less than 1% to more than 50% of dog pancreases, no study has yet examined how common clinical pancreatitis is.[139-141] In dogs, there is some evidence that neutered animals may be at higher risk than intact animals for sudden-onset form.[142,143] Obesity is a common and growing clinical problem in dogs and cats.
903476 tn?1242240637 We left the ground bare in the Greenhouse, but he won't use it..! He still thinks he needs to stand in the snowbanks like the boxers do. Of course, his little feet freeze, and I have to run out and rescue him. He will wear a jacket, but... he will not move if I put boots on him. Originally, I wanted to paper train him, so he would not have to go outside in the winter, but...
Avatar f tn She has pancreatitis, I began a thread recently concerning that, and she spent this past week in the vet hospital getting nutrients only by I.V. and nothing by mouth, in an effort to rest the pancreas, and she's coming home this afternoon. She may get well and have no more problems, or there's this chance she may go downhill again and the end will be near.

1932256 tn?1327949940 He vomits (violently) many times a day, can't eat more than 1/2 cup of soup or a glass of Instant Breakfast in a day. He lays in his bed and I can hear him throwing up and moaning in agony and I don't know what to do!!! He can't take any Xanax or any opiods of any kind or the clinic won't give him the methadone, so I have no idea how to help ease his pain. Please, please tell me what I can do ... This is ripping my heart out!!!!
1832268 tn?1326819610 My dog is fortunate in that she is right now super fit and well, you would not guess there was anything wrong with her. Her only symptom is she is drinking more than twice as much water as before, and she has bed "accidents", quite easily dealt with by plastic sheeting under a cotton sheet, and dog-diapers with pads. She is also fortunate that this was caught at a very early stage. Kidney failure cannot be reversed. The kidney -unlike the liver- has no powers of regeneration.
Avatar m tn It is possible that they can last this long. Most people say they go away in a day or two, but in very sensitive dogs, it takes much longer. My dog was knocked flat by the loading dose and barely moved for the first couple of days. He bumped into objects, seemed blind, responded to sounds incorrectly (looked in the wrong direction), tripped, stumbled, and fell flat on his stomach a few times when trying to walk.
Avatar n tn i had pancreatitis in december and was on ambien again at the time and they tried me on seroquel instead for sleep... seroquel is an anti-psychotic, a neuroleptic drug used to treat schizophrenia... but it has such a sedative side-effect that it is effective as a sleep agent..... i am not schizophrenic!! but it sure as hell helps me sleep at night~ i also suffer from depression and take prozac and neurontin and the seroquel helps with mood also...
Avatar n tn My hands and feet are almost always cold (in fact, they are right now), and I fall in and out of relatively mild depression. I have been told that carrying the thalassemia trait has no obvious symptoms, but I've been poking around forums a little bit, and the symtoms I experience seem to be fairly common. I'm still looking for ways to lessen the intensity of these symptoms, but for me I've found that maintaining physical activity helps, as well as not oversleeping, or overeating.
Avatar n tn I have experienced on 4 occasions in the last 6 years a rather weird Diarrhoea attack which really is painful and scary. Here is a description of what occurs. 1. Sudden abdominal pain which increases in intensity over a short time. The same sensation one might get when they are about to get Diarrhoea. 2. I go to the toilet and try excreting whatever wants to come out.
