Avatar f tn I am not a doctor and know nothing about medicine but your description almost sounds like pancreatitis and/or a Sphincter of Oddi, intrahepatic or pancreatic duct problem. These issues can sometimes happen many years after a gallbladder removal. I will put some links at the end of this post for you to research. Only you will recognize your some of the more obscure symptoms that accompany these issues. I hope they help and that you feel better soon!
Avatar f tn Pylori, sludge/stones in the common bile duct, gallbladder/gallstone problems, Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction, Small Bowel Bacterial Overgrowth, acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis, autoimmune pancreatitis, minimal change chronic pancreatitis, etc., etc., etc. Unfortunately, everyone and their sister wants to tell you what's "probably" wrong with you. Like you, I tried to check my symptoms against every commonplace disorder I was aware of.
667078 tn?1316000935 Sorry to hear you might need surgery. I am assuming the dx is acalculous cholecystitis. If it is, it's best to remove the gallbladder due to the complications that can arise form the inflamed GB. Below is an excerpt from eMedicine .com on the subject. It's NOT meant to scare you but to show the seriousness of the condition. I'm hoping this is NOT your dx. "Acalculous cholecystitis is a severe illness that is a complication of various other medical or surgical conditions.

Avatar m tn If it is arteritic then large doses of oral cortison are needed to get the sed rate down. The section on emedicine is especially good. If its non-arteritic there is no treatment for the eye problem and visual recovery is usually good. Again emedicine entry is excellent.
Avatar m tn s a very complicated disease and not easy to describe. I suggest you do internet search on WebMD or emedicine and see if you have any further questions. Starbursts are not a common symptoms in AZOOR and more suggestive of cataracts, cornea problems, need for glasses or new glasses RX or macular problems.

My Kaci cat whom I just love so much is old (about 161/2 ) and I have been taking her to the Vet to get hydrated about every 4 days . She is not really eating well and I am really worried . Avatar n tn The endoscopy found mild gastritis. All other test are normal. The pancreatic specialist did not mention pancreatitis at the time and only prescribed nexium and sulcrafate for the gastritis. I am 67, and never had a previous bout with pancreatitis. Moderate beer drinker. How should I be treated?
Avatar n tn I am undergoing treatment for pancreatitis, I am 29 yrs old and not an alcoholic. What precautions I should take while undergoing treatment ? what are the chances of recovering from this disease?
Avatar n tn I had to put my 11 year old Llhasa apso to sleep yesterday because he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and was in so much pain that they could not guarantee that he would survive even with treatment. It came on suddenly...he was fine Saturday but began throwing up in the middle of the night and continued...he couldn't even hold down water and was very weak. I took him into the veterinary hospital on Sunday and he was too weak to come home.
Avatar n tn Hi .. I have the same thing ... started a year or so ago with mild spasms in left back and front area .. now its pretty much constant and it's in my left hip and left shoulder. Sometimes my ribs and side is tender to touch and I get gas and discomfort as well as low back ache. I had one bad lot of pain one night that I thought might be pancreatitis but nothing since and I carried on drinking heavily (I had a drink problem but have stopped now) for several months after and no more attacks.
719251 tn?1230340905 My mother has been suffering from Pancreatitis for the past 4months. She has been in hospital three times with severe pain, vomitting, and fluid in the abdominal. In that time she has lots over 25kg. She is 60 years old but since loosing so much weight she looks like 80 years old. She no longer drinks but continues to smoke. What worries me the most is that she eats very tiny amount of food, she vomitts everyday and she is just not getting any better.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed yesterday in the ER. They found through an abdominal ultra sound the tail is enlarged. I have a family history of pancreatic cancer. They request I do further testing. Is pancreatitis something you can get rid of or is it something that kind of hangs around and "flares up"?
Avatar f tn Ask your doctor to do a blood test for amylase & lipase levels.
Avatar f tn Anyone else out there suffering from Chronic (and acute) pancreatitis and/or sphincter of Oddi dysfunction? Would love to chat about how to manage these disorders.
