Avatar f tn I was just diagnosed with elevated liver enzymes so my doctor has me going for hepatitis A, B, C blood work. Can drinking beer bring on hepatitis.
Avatar f tn Hi, One of the most common causes of elevated liver enzymes is medications. Over-the-counter meds like Ibuprofen,Tylenol, Naproxen Sodium and also some common antibiotics can cause elevated liver enzymes. Statins taken for cholesterol often cause elevated liver enzymes. This list is from the Mayo Clinic:’ http://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar n tn Elevated Liver Enzymes can be the result of damaging liver disease, acute or prolonged use of medications or alcohol, or harmful exposure to a wide variety of environmental toxins (many of which you are probably exposed to every day). Livergenex is your safe, natural choice for lowering elevated liver enzymes and putting you on the path to a healthier more energetic life. Elevated liver enzymes indicate inflammation or damage to cells in your liver.
Avatar m tn Gastric Bypass surgery in 2014 and Gallbladder removal in 1990 In January, I went to the ER for abdominal pain, nausea and slight fever. Liver enzymes were highly elevated. Normal lipase/amylase and ultrasound and X-rays came back normal. Only thing noted was a 10mm calcification on right hepatic. Went to GI who ordered MRCP and that came back with 'possible' common bile duct obstruction. During the time I waited for ERCP double balloon, my liver enzymes went back up.
Avatar f tn well they admitted me gave me blood tests and told me that my liver enzymes were elevated but she had said slightly. well to make a long story short they give me a colonoscopy (because i cant go to the bathroom like i should) a ultra sound, a cervix exam and last but not least an MRI but i wont know the results of that until next week. well the colonoscopy came back fine....the ultra sound came back fine....I have some gall stones but they didnt seem to be too worried about those.....
Avatar n tn If the liver enzymes are elevated, it more typically is the result of the portion of the common bile duct - below the level of the entry of the pancreatic duct - to be in spasm. Probably somewhere in the vicinity of the opening to the duodenum. When that happens it means that the pancreatic fluid and the bile backs up. The liver enzymes rise because they have no outlet and they're spilled into the blood.
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, Just talked to my Dr. and he said my Liver enzymes are elevated again but not as high.I'm hoping someone can explain this to me.The last test was by my Rheumatologist and she took me off of Methotrexate and now 4 months later it comes back AST-51H ALT-83H and also TOTAL CHOLESTEROL 245H,LDL 132H,HDL 101, TRIG.60 so what does all this mean?I'm also having alot of muscle pain for the last 2 months.
Avatar f tn There are many causes of elevated liver enzymes Quoted from Mayo clinic Many diseases and conditions can contribute to elevated liver enzymes. Your doctor determines the specific cause of your elevated liver enzymes by reviewing your medications, your signs and symptoms and, in some cases, other tests and procedures.
Avatar m tn Other common health conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, pancreatitis, hemolytic anemia and thyroid disease, can also cause liver transaminase elevations. Most liver diseases are characterized by greater ALT elevations than AST elevations except cirrhosis and alcohol abuse. ALT also rises in bile duct obstruction due to stone or tumor.

Raised alkaline phosphatase (The normal range is 44 to 147 IU/L (international units per liter).is often found in a growing child and at puberty.
Avatar n tn I had serious pain after the procedure and went to the emergency room. My liver enzymes were elevated when I went in (the dr. said 100/100), but the next day they went up to 1300/1300. They went down considerably the same day, but no one can give me a reason why it happened. The oncall dr said it had to be related to the procedure because they shot up so high the following day, but the surgeon performing the ERCP said that it was not normal. Anybody experienced this?
Avatar m tn 3 times i went to the emerge and had sevear pain in my right side under my ribs, along with jetting pain across my midsection and into my back, and blood work came back with elevated liver enzymes all 3 times, but they never really did anything except discharge me the following day. its literally been years since i've had an attack unil recently.
Avatar f tn Since 2002 my ALT and AST levels have been elevated. The most recent reading taken 4/1/08 was ALT: 71 and AST: 42. I have had one ultrasound in 2004 and a liver biopsy that same year and it was found that I have slight fatty liver. My doctor wants me to go for another ultrasound. My doctor said she is concerned about the length of time that my enzymes have been out of the normal range and wants me to have the ultrasound and then go back in 6 weeks for another blood test.
Avatar m tn the Dr assessed it as probably a bleeding ulcer and put him on some medication. During that exam, blood was taken and came back w/elevated liver enzymes and an ultrasound was ordered. The ultrasound was 'clear' and a physical was scheduled. They told him at his physical that his enzymes are 'very elevated' and in looking at his blood test results we see that his ALT-SGPT (which they list the normal ref to be 40-60) is 270.
312330 tn?1245176752 When my new doctor took blood for labs, my liver enzymes were again elevated, and a Hep panel in Oct 2006 still showed positive for Hep A, Ultrasound at that point looked good and all the enlargment I had in my liver and spleen had gone away. My asthma/allergy problems continued to worsen, and I was finally diagnosed with Churg Strauss Syndrome, I have never been off steroids since then. My liver is involved in the CSS, with areas of necrotizing granulomas found on biopsy.
Avatar f tn There are many possible causes for elevated liver enzymes; this list is from the Mayo Clinic:’ http://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar f tn You can have chronic and not have elevated enzymes and your ct scan can look normal, because chronic pancreatitis is a process not like acute.
Avatar m tn It can affect liver too and cause inflammation of the liver. This can cause raised liver enzymes. If the enzymes are normal, then pancreatitis, duodenal ulcer, and uncontrolled inflammation in Crohn’s should be ruled out. Take a late night snack. Raise head end of bed. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. Also, please consult your gastroenterologist to further manage Crohn’s. Take care!
Avatar f tn Yes elevated enzymes could indicate hep c however elevated liver enzymes can be caused by different things. Many diseases and conditions can contribute to elevated liver enzymes. Your doctor determines the specific cause of your elevated liver enzymes by reviewing your medications, your signs and symptoms and, in some cases, other tests and procedures.
Avatar m tn liver enzymes high at initial visit (AST/ALT: 105/90), 2.5 mos later it’s 27/50. Radiologist’s liver U/S summary was "no acute finding, normal hepatic echogenicity, no focal hepatic lesion, unremarkable gallbladder, spleen normal in size, pancreas completely obscured by gas.” Most other tests that have been run (bilirubin, amylase, lipase, alk phos, protein, albumin, blood count, some others) are normal (exceptions: vit D low, cholesterol high). BP ~125/80.
Avatar f tn I had another ERCP and ended up in the hosital with abdominal pain and fever. The symptoms disappeared quickly but I had elevated liver enzymes and my WBC was high. My CT scan came back normal. I feel my symptoms sound like pancreatitis. But, could I have a normal CT scan and normal A&L levels and still have pancreatitis?
Avatar m tn When pancreatitis occurs she always has a strong pain with elevated Amylase and Lipase levels suggesting a pancreatic dysfunction. Yesterday she woke up vomiting with just a litter abdominal discomfort. Blood work shows no significant levels of amylase or lipase. I thought for a moment she probably has a gastric virus but then the Dr. said when the pancreas stop producing this enzymes she still going to experience pancreatitis, Is this possible? Then Dr. said..
Avatar n tn I recently went to the doctor with prolonged nausea that I assumed was a result of allegies and drainage. A blood test was given and it came back normal except for elevated AST (450) and ALT (500). A blood test given about a year ago had my liver enzymes in the normal range (18 and 22). About 4 days later I was given an ultrasound and the result were normal. Another blood test was also administered and the liver enzymes were still high and hepetitis was ruled out.
Avatar m tn By Mayo Clinic staff Many diseases and conditions can contribute to elevated liver enzymes. .....
Avatar n tn My lipids are withing normal levels and my weight is normal for my height. Your thoughts on the possiblity of liver damage or cronic pancreatitis? After 2 years of abstinence what are the possiblitlies of something coming up regarding the liver or pancreas? Thank you.
Avatar m tn If you've had several attacks of acute pancreatitis and it's become chronic, it's not unusual that your enzyme levels aren't elevated. In many cases the 'diagnostic criteria' defining the chonic form of pancreatitis is the lack of elevated enzymes. If you're using a single doc, you should have documentation of having had past episodes of pancreatitis with a final diagnosis of the 'chronic' form.
