Avatar n tn Can the medicine Zanaflex cause Pancreatitis? I have looked up information on this med and it states that 1 out of 20 patients could develop liver damage. I was diagnosed with Pancreatitis on 10/14/08. I had never had it in my life. I am afraid this medicine has caused it. I have never ever picked up any type of drink other than diet pepsi and jucie. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am so scared and hurting.
719251 tn?1230344505 My mother has been suffering from Pancreatitis for the past 4months. She has been in hospital three times with severe pain, vomitting, and fluid in the abdominal. In that time she has lots over 25kg. She is 60 years old but since loosing so much weight she looks like 80 years old. She no longer drinks but continues to smoke. What worries me the most is that she eats very tiny amount of food, she vomitts everyday and she is just not getting any better.
Avatar n tn Obviously, there are no answers with this disease, and I could relapse tomorrow. But, right now, I am doing great. If anyone would like some information on this diet, let me know. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Your Triglycerides are higher then average and indicate to much fat in your diet. Again, that can also be managed along with a healthier diet. Heart Palpitations can have a variety of reasons. Sometimes anxiety and stress can play a part. Certain meds and even Caffiene can raise your heart rate. As Lynn stated, seeing a trusted Dr would be your next step to rule out disease.
Avatar n tn My dog had acute pancreatitis over the weekend and I took him to an emergency vet on Sunday and to his vet on Mon. They both kept him overnight, IV, blood work, meds, and his vet did a rectal x-ray and abdominal x-ray with barium to look for obstruction. He found dirt/sand. My dog ate cat poop covered in dirt. He is at home now doing fine and I have him on a bland diet of canned white chicken and brown rice only. However, his lower abd/belly is a little distended and hard.
Avatar n tn I posted couple of weeks ago . I went to the Er on 3-11 & was admitted for 4 days for pancreatits with mildly elevated Lipase (28) & a -sudden- severe pain in upper right quadrant(close to breastbone) that went straight thru to the back that was excruciating after eating that night. I also have ongoing pain in my back and a 'shooting & spasiming pain ' thats tolerable for now directly in my left ribs.
Avatar f tn According to the National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse" "The most common cause of chronic pancreatitis is many years of heavy alcohol use. The chronic form of pancreatitis can be triggered by one acute attack that damages the pancreatic duct. The damaged duct causes the pancreas to become inflamed. Scar tissue develops and the pancreas is slowly destroyed." You can't live without your pancreas, so if it's destroyed, the end result will not be a happy one.
Avatar n tn A portion of her intestine was re-routed and attached to the psuedocyst to drain. She continued with severe pancreatitis and a month and a half later she uderwent another surgical procedure to open the pancreatic ducts to allow the fluid to flow. She had an amazing recovery and was eating and out of the hospital two weeks later. Now, one year later she is having another bout of pancreatitis and we are so scared.
Avatar m tn My boyfriend just got out of the hospital with acute pancreatitis. Not having much luck finding information on what to expect with the recovery. Such as how long will his stomach feel bloated and how long before what use to be normal bowel patterns return. Alot of information was given regarding his diet during recovery, but next to nothing regarding what to expect physically during the first few weeks after hospitalization.
10821430 tn?1439584483 this had come up several times over the years in different breeds and for the past 10 years or so also in the Yorkies,I doubt you would find any information online as this testing has been done through the veterinarian colleges as well as through private vets all around the country and the information has not been available to the general public as yet until more information and testing is finished but the information has proved to be valid in what they have done so far, Yorkies as a overall bre
Avatar m tn I am concearned about possible pancreatitis. Can Gerd Mimic pancreatitis? I don't drink alcohol, non smoker, 5 foot 9 inches , 212 pounds, bp normal. everything is normal except this pain. Also of mention I have degenerative disk disease in the lower spine, unknown about the thoracic spine. I am tired of living in constant fear of pancreatitis. I would appreciate any info you could give me. The pain is never so bad I double over and movement tends to aggrevate it. Thanks for any info.
Avatar m tn It lists all of the conservative measures and the more advanced measures that can be taken when it's warranted. In most cases, pancreatitis will be treated with conservative measures - mostly diet and enzyme supplementation, and sometimes pain injections/nerve blocks. The problem with taking many of the pain meds by mouth is that it can make the pancratitis worse. so most docs typically stick to the 'lesser is better' school of thought.
254215 tn?1195096984 We waited for over 3 weeks when our dog had panc, and finally had to euthanize him because he was just not getting any better. Chronic pancreatitis can be managed to a certain extent with diet. My aunt had a mini schnauzer (the breed is notorious for chronic panc) who lived to be 19 - most of those years with chronic pancreatitis, and occasional hospital stays for acute attacks. I doubt the paw-dragging is in any way related to the pancreatitis.
Avatar m tn Hello, Thank you to anyone who may respond and offer information in regards to my post. My simple history is I have been diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and then was upgraded chronic p. I have been to a slew of doctors(GP/GIs) who have done numerous tests including multiple ultrasounds, amylase/lipase serums, ct scan with contrast, and a hida scan with all of them showing negative results. My pancreatitis seems to come and go for no apparent reason.
Avatar f tn We rushed him to the ER where they diagnosed him with food bloat. Within 2 days he developed pancreatitis and started to show significant signs of improvement (more energy, more appetite, drinking water, no more swelling, not tender, etc). They allowed us to treat him at home as long as he was eating and drinking and getting better every day, which he had been. We brought him back to the vet twice for extra fluids.
Avatar n tn He seemed concerned about this elevated lipase but gave me zero information as to what where or why? I have looked and read what I can online, but not sure what I read. any input into this would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn Second, has anyone on here that has been diagnosed with any form of Pancreatitis taken any diet suppliments? I have Idiopathic Severe Chronic Pancreatitis. I want to lose some weight and excersizing alone is not doing it due to the meds I take.
Avatar n tn Each time he has pains are they outside warnings that the pancreatitis is eating part of it away? 3. can this progress to cronic pancreatitis and, 4.will he have this the rest of his life? Thank you in advance for any information you can give us regarding this matter. We are very excited to have found this sight where people really do care. Thanks again.
902019 tn?1249865014 I was diagnosed 2 years ago with AIP, have a 25 year history of autoimmune disorders (eosinophilic vasculitis, mild Sjogren's). Usually have done well with prednisone for the various flare-ups but with AIP, still recurring symptoms and the elevated IgG4 periodically. Next step may be Imuran. Is there anyone out there who has had good results with Imuran for autoimmune pancreatitis?
Avatar n tn I know from experience how awful pancreatitis can be, and hope he at least has a decent pain management doc. I can't imagine going through a huge surgery like a Whipple only to have it fail. Do the docs give you any idea at all as to why he is still having attacks? Another blockage? Scar tissue? Anything? It may be true that there really isn't anything left to do. People with chronic pancreatitis sometimes suffer for years and years until the pancreas basically burns itself out.
Avatar n tn I did a digestive stool analyses at a clinic, it came back with elevated fecal fat levels and and low 'good' bacteria, with softish stools were to the clinician a potential sign of low pancreatic elastase enzymes, which has not been specifically checked for yet, unless symptoms dont go away with a healthy diet + recommended probiotics. Now, i'm on a specific diet, high fibre, no sugar, plus probiotics etc.
Avatar n tn PS, I can also recommend many sources for low-fat recipes and tips. Although underweight due to the pancreatitis, I have had to completely modify my diet (recommendation is not to exceed 20 grams of fat per day). It's possible to do that and still feed a hungry family!!
Avatar n tn I have searched and searched the internet for a no fat diet to fight acute pancreatitis. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
Avatar m tn then till 5 days she didnt had nothing only on IV fluids, when her Lipase n Amylase reports gets normal then they started very light home diet only. BUT we are still worried that how we can get completely cure for her so that nothing regarding that in future arises ?
793908 tn?1294708709 My 10 yr old mini Poodle Julie was now diagnosed with a heart murmur when she went to ER Vet again.. for another Pancreatitis attack..which is better now. My Vet told me that the Trilostane (22.5 mg) is NOT working for her Cushings disease. Yet, 2 months ago her numbers came way down to normal. He now wants her on LYSODREN. I am scared to death of that drug. I read too much negative reports about it. Thats why I put her on Trilostane.
Avatar f tn fevers with frequent visits to the docs (glandular fever diagnosed) he got worse and in hospital his lipase levels were initially 1200 and rose to 3000 he was on tube feeding (didn't stop the pain) and later tpn which helped. His lipase are around 170 last check he has been sent home with low fat diet (he lost 12.5 kilo's in hospital) . He is still having severe stomach pains.
Avatar n tn Does SOD always result in pancreatitis? How does it lead to pancreatitis in the first place? Is SOD curable? Is it progressive? My GI doctor thinks that I have a SO stenosis. I am so fearful that I'm going to experience this pain indefinately, and moreso, that I will develop pancreatitis and die. I feel too young to be combating something of this nature. What is the prognosis for SOD, and how can I ensure that I am receiving the most appropriate and proactive care? Can you hear the fear? Help!

Avatar f tn After two days i was told last night her kidney is at 7, i cant remember what her BUN was or any other number because at that point i was told she now has pancreatitis and her liver is going bad as well. They are releasing her today with me and told me to take her home, make her comfortable at home and she can either pass on her own or i can bring her in after a few days to be put down. I am having a hard time with this whole thing and felt it came on quickly.
