Avatar n tn what causes high lipase level, should i be worried? This discussion is related to Elevated lipase level.
1807187 tn?1316861276 You need to know what caused it. Alcohol and gallstones are the two most common causes. I recently got acute pancreatitis from one of my medications, but that is less than 2% of cases. Best of luck!
Avatar m tn Hi, I saw a post of a case similar to mine where the liver was affected as well as the pancreas with wieght gain instead of loss on a low fat diet. Im wondering what causes that especially in pancreatitis? I loss alot of weight a year ago, was real sick with abnormal bruising and weakness, falling down, ect, this was before pancreas started acting up again, prior to that I had only one acute episode of pancreatitis.
Avatar n tn i am so glad I finally found someone with the same problem as I have, chronic pancreatitis. I have been going on a trial and error diet and don't want to get the pain and misery again! I did broil some chicken breast and had no problems. Also can eat about 2 ounces of tuna packed in water. As the pancreatitis has caused me to be diabetic that also causes problems. I am eating several small meals each day. Wouold be glad of any suggestions that have worked for some body else.
793908 tn?1294705109 I think it's best to avoid garlic. Garlic and onions are very similar, and onions are a definite no for dogs. Some people do give dogs garlic, and the dogs seem to be ok, but I always think it's best to avoid it. As I said, dogs' sense of taste and smell is something like a hundred times more powerful than ours, so they get the taste of their food very well, and don't need any added seasonings.
1006041 tn?1250396768 This has been determined at two numerous hospital stays, infact, doctors didnt believe the previous diagnosis of an allergic reaction and gave me the meds to see for themselves. I have chronic pancreatitis and have gotten sick several times from high lipid count due to my cholesterol. I have a genetic dispositon for pancreatitis so I have had it numerous times from different causes.
936335 tn?1246412231 Your symptoms could be SO many things including microscopic sludge/stones in the common bile duct, gallbladder problems, Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction, Small Bowel Bacterial Overgrowth, acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis, autoimmune pancreatitis, mininal change chronic pancreatitis, etc., etc., etc. Pancreatic and ductal pain is among the most horrendous pain there is. If you cannot manage your pain, talk to your primary care physician and ask for some medication!
Avatar f tn I have been saying for years my food is not digesting properly. That is why the bad smell is coming through the lungs when I breathe. It also causes steathorrhea which is foul smelling stool. I have experienced this as well smells like death. Especially if I have eaten a large meal. Also floating, greasy stools. I remember the first time I took a digestive enzyme I felt better. My amalayse enzyme is also elevated slightly. High cholesterol can cause all of the problems that I have.
Avatar f tn How long can someone live (approx) with Chronic Pancreatitis when they are a heavy drinker? I have a family member that was Diagnosed with this and continues to drink heavy! He has had many attacks! This last time they wanted to place him in ICU but he checked him self out against Medical advise! If he continues to drink like this what will happen to him? Worried!!!
Avatar m tn They are really still not positive what, exactly, causes pancreatitis but dogs who are overweight and dogs who have a lot of human table food in their diets are the most prone because of the high fat content in these foods. Our food is not geared toward the way a dog's digestive system works, so it can be the most expensive, well cooked meal in the world, it's still not OK for a dog to eat in any quantity or for any length of time.
Avatar m tn I agree 100% with Ginger, it sounds like an attack of pancreatitis to me. The normal treatment for pancreatitis is one week of hospitalization on NOTHING but IV fluids, not even water to drink, to give the pancreas TOTAL REST. After the week is up, they start slowly introducing very bland food. Any time a dog is fed human food there is the risk of them developing pancreatitis, and even one meal can be enough to cause it.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am having 6 months of heartburn, I have done some tests incl. ultrasound, bloodwork, and urinalysis and allergy testing, all of which came back neg. for anything. I am on a strict diet and using PPi's for multiple months, but the symptoms haven't gone away. symptoms: stomach problems (stomach burning), mild diarrhoea (which i've had for some years already on and off. Its specifically notable that i still have it now because I take lots of fibre on my diet).
719251 tn?1230340905 My mother has been suffering from Pancreatitis for the past 4months. She has been in hospital three times with severe pain, vomitting, and fluid in the abdominal. In that time she has lots over 25kg. She is 60 years old but since loosing so much weight she looks like 80 years old. She no longer drinks but continues to smoke. What worries me the most is that she eats very tiny amount of food, she vomitts everyday and she is just not getting any better.
Avatar n tn Hi and thanks for your response! I am eating a very low fat diet. In fact I haven't branched out much with my diet as I'm afraid of another attack. I dont know if it was the chicken breast or maybe the overactivity but ended up in the hospital a couple of weeks ago with elevated amylase and lipase. The removal of the gallbladder really set things off for me.
Avatar n tn I have lost a lot of weight and cannot gain it back. What causes insufficient pancreas, will it lead to pancreatic cancer, what can I eat to gain weight, what can I eat to not have severe pain, and what can I do to stop the constant pain? my email address is marge.
Avatar n tn I have had what my gastroenterologist calls mild pancreatitis several times in the last few years. What can I do to prevent the pancreatitis from re-occurring? Is there a specific diet? My doctor just says, "bed rest, lots of fluids, a light diet." I'm not sure what "a light diet" means. Since I already eat light (6 VERY small meals a day - due to my many intestinal surgeries), I don't know what more I can do.
Avatar n tn I am undergoing treatment for pancreatitis, I am 29 yrs old and not an alcoholic. What precautions I should take while undergoing treatment ? what are the chances of recovering from this disease?
Avatar n tn Can the medicine Zanaflex cause Pancreatitis? I have looked up information on this med and it states that 1 out of 20 patients could develop liver damage. I was diagnosed with Pancreatitis on 10/14/08. I had never had it in my life. I am afraid this medicine has caused it. I have never ever picked up any type of drink other than diet pepsi and jucie. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am so scared and hurting.
Avatar f tn She thought she had the flu for over two weeks, she went to the ER and was admitted for acute pancreatitis. She stayed in the hospital for 2 weeks. Ellie is a vegan so her diet was optimal to start with. After a month or two things settled back into normal and then she had another episode in October/11. Scans and tests do not reveal any stones or blocked ducts but 1/3 of her pancreas is necrotic. She was a healthy 25 yr old that by her own admission did drink beer and or wine but not to excess.
Avatar n tn My Amylace levels were at the high end of normal. My doctor thinks I have chronic pancreatitis. I had some problems with my gallbladder a couple years ago and a gallstone was stuck in the pancreatic duct and so I had full blown Acute Pancreatitis. I was told that gallstones can move around in the abdominal cavity for years after. Anyway, I'm being treated for pancreatitis right now. I also have the abdominal pain and it was gettng pretty bad.
Avatar f tn you are correct, cat food, being richer, has set off his pancreatitis. As you know acute pancreatitis can be a fatal event. It can also be transient. no one knows how your dog will do. Medications will decrease the severity of this event and sounds like if you get him over this you have managed his diet very well. I'd like to see his pancreatic work up and treat him to get him over this quickly and so that it does not progress further.
Avatar m tn or it could be pancreatitis.. if you've been drinking or hitting NSAD's really hard lately..the pain is pretty high with pancreatitis and you'd be doubled over..but not always. A blood test for pancreatitis can be used if you've been drinking a lot.. either way with an ulcer i'd avoid alchohol/tylenol/asprin like the plague. That'll kill your stomach.
Avatar m tn ve avoided all carbs and sugar on the advice of dr google, I started to suspect it could be Pancreatitis as a side effect of the hand foot mouth virus. This diet seems to help, I barely feel the pain now, it comes and goes. I have also been peeing a lot, but I've been drinking a lot of water. Not necessarily because I'm super thirsty, but when I'm not feeling well, I try to drink a lot of water.
Avatar n tn Many of my conditions are related to post-Graves Disease. Ten years ago I had my gallbladder out after an attack of acute pancreatitis. I subsequently developed chronic pancreatitis and was diagnosed with Sphincter of Oddi. Rather than have the invasive surgery I went on a strict, fresh chicken soup diet with supplements ordered by an Ayruvedic doctor. Within 2 years I was completely recovered and could eat anything.
