Avatar n tn In November of last year I had an ERCP where they didn't find any stones in the bile duct or anything but ended up with Pancreatitis and hospitalized for 4 days and out of work several weeks. Then the pains subsided and other than having terrible Acid Reflux I didn't appear to have any problems. Then out of the blue last Friday around noon time I started getting terribly nausiated. I thought that I might be coming down with the flu.
1351490 tn?1276989667 which I was told very rare, not the Pancreatitis, but the Autoimmune with Pancreatitis. In October 2004 I developed a problem with high calcium level and was diagnosed with a tumor on one parathyroid gland, it was removed and in January 2005 is when the problem with the cancer developed. In 2008 the high calcium problem reoccurred, another tumor had completely cover the second parathyroid gland, it was removed along with two large tumors from the thyroid gland, leaving two small by Dr.
1036535 tn?1278506199 CT was actually OK, but I had numerous small stones in my kidney. Not unusual for me. But my lipase was high. Left w/ dx of pancreatitis. No gallstone blocking the duct, no alcohol use. Yet another doc I have puzzled. My question is: Do any of you know if Neurontin &/or occasional Darvocet use can cause pancreatitis?
422425 tn?1307996590 I have been searching on the net for information about Autoimmune Pancreatitis. I was diagnosed with this disease in July of 2007. My doctors were sure I had cancer because I had a mass the size of a golf ball on the tail of my pancreas. I also have masses in my kidneys. I was very relieved to find out it was NOT cancer, but an autoimmune respose to something. My question is.....has anyone else in this community been told they have this, and did the treatment work for you.
Avatar n tn for yearly test and was told Thyroid, PTH normal but my calcium levels are below normal. Was told to take calcium supplements and get retested. I have been retested twice and still below normal. The only symptons are that my legs cramp at night and lips feel weird. My primary care Dr. now tells me she wants me to go back to the endocronologist. Is this really necessary??? I hate going to the endo, I can't even talk to a human when I call their office.
Avatar f tn There have been rare reports of pancreatitis due to tapazole or PTU. Elevated blood calcium (sometimes seen in hyperthyroidism) can also contribute to pancreatitis. There are other more common causes --- gallstones, alcohol use, high triglycerides, etc. In some rare cases other auto-immune diseases (assuming Graves is the cause of your hyperthyroidism) may be associated with pancreatitis.
Avatar f tn Alcoholism Gallstones Abdominal surgery Certain medications Cigarette smoking Cystic fibrosis Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), when used to treat gallstones Family history of pancreatitis High calcium levels in the blood (hypercalcemia) High levels of parathyroid hormone in the blood (hyperparathyroidism) High triglyceride levels in the blood (hypertriglyceridemia) Infection Injury to the abdomen Pancreatic cancer" For me it was gallstones.

Had MRSA and was receiving antibotics for infection, steroids for asthma and pain, calcium for the bones. What can we do as a family to make sure she is getting the right medical care and follow-up besides keeping up with the doctors and researching.

Avatar n tn Jodi, From what you have already explained, it does sound as though chronic pancreatitis may be your problem. I have CP and experienced many of the same symptoms before I was diagnosed. I still have pain, but much of my problems are controlled by a low fat diet, enzyme supplements with meals and snacks, antioxidants and vitamins, and class II narcotics when my pain episodes are unmanageable. I've pasted some information from a research source below for you to review.
4454327 tn?1405206728 There is no history of pancreatitis in family, except my grandmother died from pancreatic cancer. Just wondering if there is a chance that this could have been the start of Chronic Pancreatitis. Any ideas or input would be welcome. Thank you.

Avatar n tn My husband has had chronic pancreatitis for the past 5 years. We found out 5 months ago he has course calicifications throughout the pancreas with cysts on the head and tail. He is insulin-diabetic now and has lost approx 40 pounds. He has good and bad days. My concern is this. When he feels "bad" an odor of feces eminates from his body. Or sometimes it even smells like really dirty oily hair...mild but nonetheless notable. I am very concerned and can't seem to find an answer.
Avatar f tn What ever happened with your calcium levels? I am curious. I just had mine tested and they were 11.5, so they did the parathyroid and the ionized calcium test. I am waiting for the results. They have never been elevated before, but I was complaining of being tired, even after 8-9 hours of sleep, so he ran a bunch of blood work and found it. I would be interested in learning more about what happened with you. Thanks.

Avatar n tn Dear Charlotte, The most common causes of acute pancreatitis in the United States are alcoholic pancreatitis and gallstone pancreatitis. Many patients with so-called idiopathic (unknown cause) pancreatitis end up having microlithiasis (small stones or crystals in the biliary tree). There are many other causes of acute pancreatitis but they are less common.. I will list them for you.

Avatar m tn I am away at college and i'm very worried. Our family dog has become very sick. He is a seven year old neutered German Shepard mix male. I will go ahead and say that my mother spoils this dog rotten. She gives him lots of treats and food scraps. He started vomiting occasionally about 2 weeks ago. Then today he started vomiting and throwing up bile a whole lot. My mother said that she let him outside, and went to check on him a few minutes later.

She has developed pancreatitis again and the only fda approved drug she is on is a Rowasa enema. So we stopped the enema. She has lots of pain with the pancreatitis and currently is on a pain pill to stop the pain. Her doctor called today and wants to do an ERCP on her and I have heard nothing but bad about that procedure. I just dont know about going along with that. HELP!
Avatar n tn Can I tell if I am expelling bile? Also, I am hypo-thyroid and take calcium supplements, as prescribed by my endocrinologist. Since the stones are made of cholestoral and calcium, could these supplements be hurting me or should I just continue? Any input is appreciated. At least I now know what was going on during the attacks! It was pretty scary. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Best non prescription dog food for a dog who needs low fat, low in oxalate dog food because of recent bout of pancreatitis and a strong history of calcium oxalate stones in the bladder. Dog was on Hills' I/d low fat food for his pancreatitis but it is not good for calcium oxalate stones. If new stones develope while treating pancreatitis will have to put the dog down because he could not survive surgery , which is why preventing calcium oxalate stones is so important.
Avatar f tn On 12/2008 I had severe pancreatitis which was caused from taking calcium supplements (hard on pancreas). EUS was done 1/2009 which showed hypoechoic tissue in the neck and head of my pancreas. FNA did not show cancer. Because of several other pancreatitis eppisodes and father dieing from pancreatic cancer, does all of this put me at high risk for pancreatic cancer? Can hypoechoic tissue turn from benign to cancerous?
Avatar n tn Can my ageing have caused the pancreatitis to reocccure? Could the high levels of stress caused the pancreatitis?
