Pancreatitis calcium

Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis calcium

pancreatitis

Avatar m tn My labs were normal for the most part except for elevated alkaline phosphatase and an ultrasound this time showed slight calcium deposits in the tail of the pancreas but did not show up on an abdominal xray. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Also, how would they know they are calcium deposits from an ultrasound and not something else? The next step may be a CT scan but the idea of that really worries me.
Avatar n tn It could indicate whether you have pancreatitis. Parathyroid patients may have pancreatitis but it is possible that you have only gastroesophageal reflux.
Avatar f tn Get your serum calcium and lipid profile done to see if high calcium and lipids are a cause of pancreatitis. For more information please refer: http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/pancreatitis/ Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn 1. Steroids, mumps, Epstein Barr Virus and Cytomegalovirus, Lupus and other immune diseases, very high calcium, lipids and triglycerides, drugs: sulfa drugs, steroids, NSAID use, diuretics, duodenal ulcer, diabetic drugs especially Byetta. The drugs could be a problem for both the pancrease and liver too. If you have been taking Byetta for diabetis it is very important to get treatment for that right away. I would say there is cause for concern but you are getting it checked out.
1240683 tn?1268232755 Could the high cholesterol and long term high calcium from the hyperthyroidism cause pancreas problems? My GI is checking my prealbumin and taking a stool sample to see if there is some malnutrition/malabsorption going on. Are there any other tests that would help with this? Thx!
Avatar f tn What ever happened with your calcium levels? I am curious. I just had mine tested and they were 11.5, so they did the parathyroid and the ionized calcium test. I am waiting for the results. They have never been elevated before, but I was complaining of being tired, even after 8-9 hours of sleep, so he ran a bunch of blood work and found it. I would be interested in learning more about what happened with you. Thanks.
422425 tn?1307992990 I have been searching on the net for information about Autoimmune Pancreatitis. I was diagnosed with this disease in July of 2007. My doctors were sure I had cancer because I had a mass the size of a golf ball on the tail of my pancreas. I also have masses in my kidneys. I was very relieved to find out it was NOT cancer, but an autoimmune respose to something. My question is.....has anyone else in this community been told they have this, and did the treatment work for you.
Avatar f tn Fish body oil, such as salmon oil (not cod liver oil), and antioxidants, including vitamins C and E, beta carotene, and selenium, may help reduce the risk of acute pancreatitis. Dogs with chronic pancreatitis can be deficient in B vitamins, so a B-complex supplement is also recommended. -------- Hoping that helps a little. I'll be back with more later.

Avatar f tn I am struggling with several issues associated with management of kidney disease in my 18 year old terrier mix rescue dog, who was diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease 5 weeks ago, on the heels of an episode of acute pancreatitis. He had been on metacam for osteoarthritis (elbow, spine, hips) for about 2 years, so we have been monitoring his blood work at least every 6 months. His creatinine had been creeping up slowly, but entered the abnormal zone at 1.
1166735 tn?1263475353 My current gastroenterologist in Australia is reluctant to perform the ERCP due to the high risks of post ERCP Pancreatitis. I do understand this rationale, but surely elevated GGT and ALT and regular pain attacks also carries risks if left undiagnosed. Can you please tell me what these risks are and why after a second opinion from the UK is my doctor hesitant to perform the ERCP??? I am serioiusly considering going back to the UK for treatment as I really do not want another pain attack.
Avatar f tn Sludge is a mixture of bile, mucous and tiny bits of cholesterol-based and calcium-based particles. People with sludge may be asymptomatic or may have tenderness or pain in the right or upper abdomen .In few cases the sludge may resolve itself. However it can also lead to other health issues like gallstones, pancreatitis, cholecystitis and gallstone-biliary colic.
1236313 tn?1295726268 for a brief time, and then as they sense lowering calcium levels, they rally back. I think the time-frame is different with each person -maybe a little longer for someone who has had more than 1 removed. How is your calcium level doing? -I was also told that with the tumors, the parathyroids become "desensitized" to high calcium levels and, again, it takes them a bit to recognizes the new "normal" level...If you haven't, check out Parathyroid.com.
Avatar f tn I have low Vitamin D and take a D and calcium supplement. I also have GERD and a small hiatal hernia. I took Prevacid for about four months but have been off of it for three months now. I recently had a bout of lime-green colored stool that lasted for 24 hours and then cleared up. My primary doctor can find nothing wrong with me and I am still living with this little bee stinging sensation in my side. Can anyone help?
Avatar f tn I meant to ask about calcium levels in your dog's blood results. This can produce seizures too, when calcium levels are abnormally low. I once wrote a piece about this whole process and seizure events in dogs with kidney failure. You (and your vet) may find it of some interest. http://www.infobarrel.
Avatar n tn When dogs have had issues of upset stomachs, such as occurs with Pancreatitis for example, suffered episodes of vomiting and/or diarrhea or have been on antibiotics, the normal bacterial flora, which are the bacteria that normally line the intestinal tract, and are responsible to absorb digested nutrients, become "upset.

Avatar n tn The endoscopy found mild gastritis. All other test are normal. The pancreatic specialist did not mention pancreatitis at the time and only prescribed nexium and sulcrafate for the gastritis. I am 67, and never had a previous bout with pancreatitis. Moderate beer drinker. How should I be treated?
Avatar n tn I am undergoing treatment for pancreatitis, I am 29 yrs old and not an alcoholic. What precautions I should take while undergoing treatment ? what are the chances of recovering from this disease?
Avatar n tn I had to put my 11 year old Llhasa apso to sleep yesterday because he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and was in so much pain that they could not guarantee that he would survive even with treatment. It came on suddenly...he was fine Saturday but began throwing up in the middle of the night and continued...he couldn't even hold down water and was very weak. I took him into the veterinary hospital on Sunday and he was too weak to come home.
