Pancreatitis bloody stool

Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis bloody stool

pancreatitis

Avatar m tn There could be gastrointestinal parasites not covered by the metronidazole, of course, and it would be best to have your dog's stool checked. Other causes of bloody mucoid stool besides GI parasites include ingestion of sharp GI foreign bodies, toxins or chemicals, Parvovirus, or other viral or bacterial infections, pancreatitis and more. You could try giving your dog Pepcid (famotidine), and Sucralfate, if you have access to these medications to treat the symptoms.
Avatar n tn The high fat content pushed his pancreas right over the edge and $10,000 of top-notch vet care couldn't stop it. However, he never had bloody diarrhea from it. A word of caution about pancreatitis: Once the pancreas has been compromised, it tends to rear its ugly head from time to time, sometimes turning into a chronic condition. Your dog should be denied ANY kind of table scraps from here on out to prevent a relapse.
382209 tn?1199831271 I’ve always abstained from processed foods, etc,..) I usually have a huge discharge of large, gasy bloody mucous first thing in the morning. I have really bad smelling gas & my stomach is often inflammed & distended to the point that I cannot wear anything I own. I am tired all the time (opposite how I was a year ago) and I feel that I am dying inside or something - since I have to look at stools covered in thick blood and mucous every day.
Avatar m tn My wife got me to go into the ER last week, at 1st they thought it was Pancreatitis because my L enzyme was over 700. But after reallizing that I don't take Prescription drugs and very rarely drink alcohol they ordered a CT scan and discovered I have fatty liver. The endocrinologist didn't think the liver and stool situation was related but they sent me home and put me on a low fat diet.
Avatar m tn Well the bloody stool isn't anything to mess with. Sorry about the next question, do your stools look tarry or like coffee grounds or just loose, can you see the blood or are stools black like old blood. Have you been checked for diverticulosis? Your Endo should be able to verify that. It will give you a lot of cramping at times, diarrhea. Stay away from iceberg lettuce, popcorn, food with small seeds, tomato seeds, spicy foods etc until you see your Endo.
Avatar n tn However, by the end of your e-mail I relized that you required additional investigations.
Avatar f tn Last september (2009) after going to the bathroom I saw that there was a lot of dark red blood mixed with my stool and decided it was probably time to see a doctor. Blood work came back negative for celiac, and blood count was all in normal range however my gp said that my iron levels were 'on the low side'. I was referred for further evaluation and in June this year had a colonoscopy which came back normal and ruled out IBD and found no source of bleeding.
Avatar n tn His simptoms include stomach pain, very loud gassy bowel sounds (sometimes you can hear them accross the room), loss of appetite, terrible gas, lethargy, vomiting (usually bloody stomach bile), some loose stool but not explosive diarea. The treatment he has always recieved is the standard treatment for any gastrointestonal alement,(npo food, iv fluids, antiboitics, antacid). He's better until the next time. He is far from overweight and not diabetic.
Avatar n tn I had multiple, lengthy episodes of ulceration (up to 11 mm, bloody, mucous stool)lasting 4-5 months which coincided with taking Vicoprofen when it first appeared in the marketplace. Ibuprofen makes you bleed! Your gastroentrologist should know that. Coincidentally I switched pain medication to Lorcet...I read somewhere that hydrocodone was being prescribed for "GI mucous control". I take it 2x per day and have been free from any problems for 2+ years.
Avatar f tn After a few trips something told me to look at my stools and I noticed that it was bloody. I immediately woke my husband up and he took me to the ER. I went down hill from there. I went to the ER and the basically couldn't find anything wrong with me except that I probably had indegestion so they gave me some antacid and the gave me some pain meds intravenously. They even couldn't explain why I had bloody stools but to say that I needed to follow up with my primary doctor.
Avatar n tn Our miniature dachshund just had pups on may 14 and has developed bloody diarrhea. Is this normal or could it be parvo?
Avatar f tn In February, I noticed that if I ate even two small bites of red meat I would get very gassy, and would not have normal bowel movements for the next 2-3 days. The only thing that I would have is globs of bloody mucus... no stool. It would resolve in about 3 days, but during this time my whole abdomen would feel bruised and very tender. Then by March I noticed that I could no longer eat ANY type of meat (chicken, beef, pork, hot dogs), or any beans (kindney, black, navy, white).
Avatar m tn After 2 weeks I started to have burning in the anus, diarrhea, sometimes bloody stool. It is 20 days that I stopped it and now no burning and no bloody stool but still I have diarrhea. is it possible to have diarrhea 20 days after stopping it? I have IBS also.
Avatar f tn They detected bacteria in stool and she had a low platelet count (104). They sent us home with a couple of antibiotics and prednisone. Next day she ate finally (prescription I/D). Next day she had almost a normal bowel movement. But then acted strange, wanted to hide in closets. Discovered she threw up her food from the day before (undigested) and then she threw up several different places in the house. The rest were liquid, one was red in color but then clear after that.
Avatar n tn she became anemic, low platelet issues, bloody stool and urine, loosing protein and glucose in her urine (Fanconi syndrome.) These symptoms have all been stabalized, but we are left with our original problem. CURRENTLY - She continues to have constant diarrhea despite not being fed (secretory diarrhea), is unable to hold anything down, has intermitent fevers and a heart rate between 160-210. We've seen dozens of doctors, the full array of specialists, and still no answers.
Avatar f tn By this time I had just had some severe abdominal pain associated with a high fever, vomiting, shaking, and bloody stools. This sudden attack happened after I had had my first meal. The Doctor really couldn't find what was wrong but, prescribed some antibiotics. From that moment on my abdominal pain has gotten worse. This is why the Doctor wanted to do a colonoscopy because of the bloody stools. The biopsy results showed that I had polyps but, that it wasn't malignate.
4987347 tn?1361977937 I was diagnosed with UC in 2012. I had had small bouts of bloody stool for years leading up to it, but nothing consistent enough to get people thinking. I have always had digestive issues. Bad stomach cramping, diarrhea frequently but December 2011 was when it all went down hill. I began to experience frequent trips to the bathroom, mucous followed by drops of blood. I was diagnosed and put on medication, and went into remission around summer.
Avatar f tn Since you also have severe stomach cramping I would recommend you go to the ER today. Severe cramps and bloody stool could indicate some kind of internal bleeding and it's best to be checked out to rule out any serious issues! (btw - congrats on getting off the sub!!
Avatar f tn You have had a comprehensive evaluation thus far which would rule out many of the major GI disorders. Sending the stool off for fat analysis should be considered. Mucous in the stool may be indicative of malaborption or pancreatitis. Obtaining serum pancreatic enzymes can also be obtained to exclude the latter possibility. Blood tests for celiac disease should also be considered as well. These diseases can also cause abdominal pain and bloating as well.
Avatar n tn I had to have a central line placed into my heart, a Naso gastric tube into my stomach, and it took the surgeon ten days to decide whether or not to operate. I had projectile hematemesis, bloody stool, liver, cardiac trauma, subcutaneous emphysema, pneumopericardium, and more. I am very symptomatic again and have Kaiser now, so now have to find a new specialist! UGH! It doesnt help, my being an RN, as sometimes knowledge is a two edged sword.
Avatar n tn EUS was done 6 months back and diagnosed with (?) Early chronic pancreatitis (Heterogeneous pancreas). I didn't understand the meaning of (?) in the report. After that doctor advised me Rabeprazole, Creon(Amylase and Lipase) and Probiotics. Recent blood test shows Amylase as 90 and lipase as 30 with SGOT and SGPT wel within limit.Alkaline phosphatase was also within limit. In between I had a repeated occurance of microscopic haematuria in my urine.
Avatar f tn Last year I struggled with pain in my stomach, diarrhea when I ate anything, and pain in my joints. I was sent for a CT scan for possible pancreatitis, and they found prominent lymph nodes around my pancreas, and something in my colon. I was sent to GI specialist, and it was thought I had Crohn's disease. Had an upper endoscopy, and colonoscopy which only showed chronic gastritis, and hiatal hernia, and Barrett's esophagus.
1462810 tn?1327364049 I very much would like to know how your sweet baby is and what was the final diagnosis as y diamond has not eaten much in 2 days , same symptoms as yours, she tried to eat a few bites of food then threw up on my sofa its the bloody looking stool water that has me frightened as well she feels feverish on her belly.
Avatar n tn i would as the previous person stated go to the er immediately when it happens and hopefully an xray would prove somehting at the time of the attack ...do you have any bloody stool? ....a volvulus is an emergency situation by the way if it stays........
Avatar n tn The most common symptoms of ulcerative colitis are abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea. Patients also may experience anemia, fatigue, weight loss, loss of appetite, rectal bleeding, loss of body fluids and nutrients, skin lesions, joint pain, growth failure (specifically in children). About half of the people diagnosed with ulcerative colitis have mild symptoms. Others suffer frequent fevers, bloody diarrhea, nausea, and severe abdominal cramps.
Avatar f tn Now I don't know what to do, my vet don't know what do either (We are at the Middle East or we have only one good clinic) her last CBC was a week ago everything was fine, we did culture exam and it was fine, we did stool analysis test and the result is today. I don't know what's wrong with my cat!! I'm so sad I don't know what to do. She lost a lot of weight during the last year. I'm not sure if she has worms (note that we gave her warm tablets on the last Sunday) or Inflammatory Bowel Disease!
Avatar n tn The elevated ANA should be repeated to ensure it is normal - as rheumatological disease can lead to the symptoms you describe. The floating stools can be indicative of chronic pancreatitis or fat malabsorption. Obtaining pancreatic enzyme tests as well as stool tests looking for fat malabsorption can be considered. I agree with the tests for celiac disease. These options can be discussed with your personal physician. Followup with your personal physician is essential.
Avatar n tn Disorders of the GI tract include difficulty swallowing, appendicitis, cirrhosis of the liver, gallstones, diverticulitis, diverticulosis, GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), hepatitis, jaundice, hiatal hernia, cholecystitis, inflammatory bowel disease, enlarged liver or spleen, chronic pancreatitis, irritable bowel syndrome, indigestion, bloody stools, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s Disease, bowel obstruction, peptic ulcer, stomach ulcers, gastric ulcers, celiac disease, ulcerative colitis,
Avatar m tn Sometimes mixed in with the stool, sometimes before I have stool (just drips into the bowl) and sometimes after I have stool.
129422 tn?1222703189 Maybe only one time with very loose stool, and another time with kind of loose stool (but nothing signficant there). Another stool was checked a couple of weeks ago--no blood in it and negative for parasites. Blood workup done then completely normal. Two days ago he mostly dry heaved in the early AM hours (3 AM to 6 AM) about every 10 minutes. He was at the vet's at 7 AM and observed there all day. No more dry heaves. Vet could find nothing wrong with him.
