Avatar m tn The dose for metronidazole is 20 to 25mg per kg. The dose for a large lab would be 500 to 750mg twice per day tor 7 days (Do not overdose). If you have not given the correct dose or metronidazole than another course of metronidazole may help. There could be gastrointestinal parasites not covered by the metronidazole, of course, and it would be best to have your dog's stool checked.
Avatar m tn After 2 weeks I started to have burning in the anus, diarrhea, sometimes bloody stool. It is 20 days that I stopped it and now no burning and no bloody stool but still I have diarrhea. is it possible to have diarrhea 20 days after stopping it? I have IBS also.
Avatar n tn Our miniature dachshund just had pups on may 14 and has developed bloody diarrhea. Is this normal or could it be parvo?
Avatar f tn They detected bacteria in stool and she had a low platelet count (104). They sent us home with a couple of antibiotics and prednisone. Next day she ate finally (prescription I/D). Next day she had almost a normal bowel movement. But then acted strange, wanted to hide in closets. Discovered she threw up her food from the day before (undigested) and then she threw up several different places in the house. The rest were liquid, one was red in color but then clear after that.
504535 tn?1210527032 The bile salts secreted from the gall bladder give the stool its brownish color. Yellow stools generally indicate insufficient bile output like cholecystitis, gall stones, it can also indicate an intestinal infection like giardiasis when the stool passes very quickly through the intestine. Other conditions that can cause yellow stools include hepatitis, pancreatitis or liver cirrhosis. It does not indicate cancer like you rightly mentioned.
Avatar n tn I hope to have got digestive correct, as I assume pancreatitis has to do with that. Vet called today, said Ozzie's level are over 1'000 on lipase count and that makes it sure it is pancreatitis, che chronic version. Having had a look at internet, none of the symptoms agree with what he does. He does not, vomit, reject food, loose stool....
Avatar f tn I have been having bad upper stomach and mid chest pains for about 2 and a half weeks, which is coming from the pancreatitis diagnoses i got a couple or 3 years ago. The last couple of bowel movements I had looked weird. They looked like a whole lot of pieces glued together, really ragged, not smooth as they normally are. Does anybody know if that's a normal part of pancreatits?
Avatar n tn about 3 hours ago he began to have a bloody show in his bowel movement of diarreha. Now it has become to 2 times an hour of diarreha that is very watery explosive bloody each time. The vet is closed and the weather is horrible here with ice and snow everywhere with no way safely to get out any ideas on what we can do for our dog would be much appreciated I have given him pepto bismoth but that has not helped any at all. Please....
Avatar m tn Well the bloody stool isn't anything to mess with. Sorry about the next question, do your stools look tarry or like coffee grounds or just loose, can you see the blood or are stools black like old blood. Have you been checked for diverticulosis? Your Endo should be able to verify that. It will give you a lot of cramping at times, diarrhea. Stay away from iceberg lettuce, popcorn, food with small seeds, tomato seeds, spicy foods etc until you see your Endo.
Avatar f tn Yesterday I went to the bathroom and when I went to flush the stool was bloody. I did some research and stuff so I decided to test it out today and see where the blood is coming from. I went to the bathroom again and there was no blood whatsoever. I don't know if I should tell my mum because she might Overreact, but is it any thing serious?
Avatar n tn Did the vet perform a CPLI test to see if your dog had pancreatitis? The causes of vomiting and diarrhea can be many things, such ingestion of a foreign body, ingestion of something toxic, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, parasites, organic causes and more.
Avatar f tn hi thnx 4 ur input...im already diagnosed h. pylori & it caused my gastritis since 2011....but i been treated... now im suspicious about this new back pain...cuz it happens when my GI issues go crazy.... when do GI problems give back pain?. i've never heard of this..
Avatar m tn I haven not been tested for autoimmune pancreatitis or had a stool sample done. Nor have taking enzymes been suggested. From all of my research I think my pancreatitis at this particular moment in time is quite low-grade which may be a reason my GI has taken a very slack approach. The GI didn't seemed concerned about the black specks and didn't inquire any further after I mentioned them. But my pancreatitis is still of course an issue that should be seriously addressed.
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm hoping you can help me diagnose this: In the last 12 hours, I've had lower abdominal pain followed by an unusual bowel movement consisting of a watery loose stool that's pale (small yellow chunks, yellow mucus when I wipe, and yellowish-brownish color in the water).
Avatar n tn Blood work normal except this last check the included the CA 19-9, came back at 473. Ct had shown mild pancreatitis with pancreatic duct dilation. EUS procedure was scheduled and now canceled due to coronavirus. Do we have reason to worry is this most likely just pancreatitis.
Avatar m tn In order to progress to chronic pancreatitis, you would have had a number of episodes of acute pancreatitis before that. The symptoms of pancreatitis are so miserable, you would have known you were experienicng 'something.' Elevations in pancreatic enzymes should be checked out. Probiotics are wonderful products. Many find they can help to bring bowel habit problems back into line, but they're no replacement for testing. H.
Avatar m tn Blood work, urine test, stool sample and abdominal ultrasound...all clear. Are these signs of pancreatic problems?
Avatar n tn In the last 3 months I have lost 22 pounds and have begun noticing oil in my stool. So chronic pancreatitis confirmed and just start taking digestive enzymes right?... Not so fast. Doctor prescribed Cotazym-ECS 8 and I have tried all different types of dosing. I have also experimented with 2 over the counter enzymes from the drug store. These actually make my condition way worse, cause severe abdominal pain, diarrhea and the oil in my stool increases 2 fold.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your reply. I am talking yellow stool, but at times it is almost white. I had pancreatitis prior to having my gallbladder out due to gallstones. Three weeks after my surgery I began to have the upper right quadrant pain. My doctor thinks the surgeon may have left stones in my common bile duct. I fear that I may have Sphincter of Oddi. Again, Thank you for your reply.
Avatar f tn I have pancreatitis. Have had 8 weeks of extreme pain. Pain has now subsided. CT and Ultrasound keep showing mild pancreatitis. A cause cannot be found as i have no gallstones and i dont drink alcohol. I have seen a specialist, who sent me home with pain meds. I now have diarhea, for the past month. Sometimes it is oily. Stool sample shows nothing. Blood work shows slight rise in A + L levels. Nothing to be worried about. I have lost 14kgs in 2.5 months. Most of which was lost in the last month.
Avatar f tn he is at the point where no stool was coming out but blood was. we have done a stool sample but are waiting for the resutls. what could this be?
