Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis blood test results

pancreatitis

Avatar f tn your test is high, but not high enough to say you have pancreatitis, i know this as i have had it in the past, and when i drink alcahol now my blood tests flare up and down to roughly the 180 mark where before it was nearly 400 when i had pancreatitis, you may need to change your diet, stop any alcahol and spicy, faty food. do that for a month and see the results, im betting they will come down..
Avatar n tn I cannot thank you enough for your previous posts to me........they have helped me get through the difficult "waiting time" of abdominal CT scan. The gastroenterologist we saw today has diagnosed chronic pancreatitis at this time. He has re-scheduled both the CA 19-9 blood test & CT scan in 3 months.
Avatar f tn To my knowledge there is no gold standard test to diagnose chronic pancreatitis. In fact, diagnosing chronic pancreatitis is challenging because testing may yield normal results, even when the disease is present. So doctors typically rely on a battery of tests to come up with the final result.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor and they took my blood. I had abnormal pancreas results so they gave me a CT scan. The CT scan revealed nothing wrong. About 2 weeks ago, I came down with really flu-like symptoms... extreme chest congestion, shortness of breath, headaches, and severe swollen lymph nodes. The doctor wants to do another blood test to see if I still have the abnormal pancreas. Could these be related?
Avatar f tn How is it possible ...can the High Lipase results mean something else ? Please is there anyone who can give me some understanding on this ...or am I just being spared the pain ?? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/231860'>pancreatitis vs crohns-how can you tell?!?
Avatar f tn I recently had blood work done. All negative except TSH, 3rd Generation which was low at 0.32. What exactly is TSH, 3rd Generation? Am I to be concerned? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Hi Cheryl, I agree with CML's suggestions. Our cat, Sammy, was diagnosed with diabetes more than 2 years ago through a blood test. When he was diagnosed, he had lost quite a lot of weight and the vet couldn't understand why Sammy was losing so much weight. I would definitely bring your cat back to your vet and ask for a blood test. You could also ask for a fructosamine test to see how much sugar is in your cat's blood. I wish you and you cat well.
Avatar f tn im now being directed to take a gastric emptying study which i already have had done a year ago and those results were normal..my question is...is here a link between pancreatitis and bile reflux? and if so, would it not be indicative of an obstruction (due to the minor dilation) of my pancreatic duct....is there any remedies or speculation around these test results?
Avatar n tn My CT scan results came back fine. I had another blood test and my lipase and amylase numbers are actually higher despite a greatly reduced diet. One is around 3500 (Lipase, I think) and the other around 450. I still have minimal pain, if any. I had an ultrasound of everything this morning and will hopefully get the results back soon. They also tested something for my liver in the blood test, but I'm guessing that came back fine since they didn't say anything.
Avatar f tn 30pm). My blood work came back good he said. Oh, I also have 4 ovarian cysts that I had to go to the hospital and pay for the results, nothing has been done about those. I am at my whits end, something is wrong and not one Dr. has been willing to try to get to the bottom of this. I have gained 30+ pounds and I don't even eat, my stomach can't handle it. I get over full just drinking water.
Avatar m tn I did a CT Scan and MRI in my pancreas and the results were inflamation but my blood test 19-9 came to 133. What does this mean? Cancer or infammation of the pancreas? .
Avatar n tn Update: I got my test results today and found that not only do I still have pancreatitis, although not as severe, but my ejection rate was zero. Actually the report said less than zero although I don't know how that is possible. I have read that gallbladder surgery is dangerous in the presence of pancreatitis and that the pancreatitis can also cause gallbladder disease or vice versa. Anyone had similar question?
Avatar f tn My chocolate lab "Skip" is about 10 years old and developed pancreatitis for the first time. We took him to the doctor he never vomited or diahrea until the day after he got to the vets office. His amalyse was high like 8000 and his glucose and white blood count low but we got an ultrasound to make sure not cancer. He started to show improvements with the IV and antibiotic. Now a week later he is starting to decline and the vet has tried everything.
Avatar f tn Yes get these checked at the emergency. Pancreatitis is dangerous if it is the acute kind. If your levels are not raised you could have chronic pancreatitis so you could get tested for that.
Avatar n tn He stayed at the vet until yesterday on IV fluids.Levels were 2335 & 4335. I have the actual test results home but the 2335 should be no higher than I believe 1100 and the 4335 should be 77-695. The 2335 is now normal and the 4335 went down to 1275.They had me pick him up and bring him home until his new bloodwork comes in today.
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm also a 22 yrs old patient who is having upper left abodominal pain for like a year, I had CTscan, abdominal ultrasound, Barium enema, Sigmoidoscopy and everything turned out to be normal.
Avatar n tn I have had ultra sound, upper GI, Endoscopy, CT scan, MRI, MRCP. Hida Scan, back xrays, and all the lab work, that includes blood test for pancreas and liver. They did find two side branch lesions about 1 cm each in the pancreas. The radiologist and my pancreatic specialist said they need to be monitored and no real concern at this time. The endoscopy found mild gastritis. All other test are normal.
543435 tn?1282242679 Has any doctor ever suggested he may have chronic pancreatitis? You can have chronic pancreatitis and have flares of acute pancreatitis. This can be hereditary or from drinking or many other reasons. If you have this disease then you are unable to digest a lot of food. Sticking to a low fat diet and taking specially prescribed enzymes to help digest food seems to help some people with this. Usually a diagnosis is made from an endoscopic ultrasound procedure or from CT scan.
Avatar n tn My dog unfortunately just died he was 8 years old and just started with vomiting and just wanted to drink water but would vomit it out anyway the vet said he might have panceatitis but didn't suggest anything only maybe blood tests but they wouldn't get the results before xmas and just before he died he did brown/yellow diarrhoea and went to vet again but they couldn't help him hr had a seizure there and died within 5 minutes i just wanted some answers as to what might have killed hi
Avatar f tn Received blood results. ALT 74 AST 123. My glucose is 112 and my tryglicerdies are 306. I have no abdomonal pain but do feel very fatigued. I just recently had gone to the hospital for heart palpitations and feeling like i was going to pass out. Are these levels still able to come down? Or is it possible that there is no turning back at this point? Very nervous.
Avatar f tn Is there anyway that all four tests and blood work missed liver disease and/or pancreatitis?
