Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis and vomiting

pancreatitis

Avatar f tn Hello, I have been sick since Friday. I'm having lots of pain, vomiting, nausea and diarrhea but lately my lipase and amylase levels have been low. The doctor said my pancreas is sluggish and work like it should and this is why my blood levels are normal. Can anyone tell me if exocrine pancreatic insufficiency affects lipase and amylase levels during a pancreatitis flare up? Also has anyone ever had normal blood levels with pancreatitis?
Avatar f tn One of his kidney values was very mildly elevated so I wanted to do the ultrasound and he has had vomiting on and off… it seemed to be hairball related, I treated that and it seems to help and sometimes food related. I'm changing their diet to a raw dehydrated diet slowly also to try to help. He has always been very sensitive and has vomited here and there as have a lot of my cats. He is very sensitive to meds and often vomits from them. He is fiv pos and has been very healthy overall.
Avatar f tn My sister had that and had to have surgery. Everything went smoothly and she recovered well and was 32 weeks pregnant at the time. Listen top your doctor and keep a close eye on how you're feeling and know worst case scenario are of course worst case. You can get through this with no compilations just take care of yourself!!
509877 tn?1315361694 She ate some pork a couple of days ago and them started vomiting the yellow frothy stuff. They had to give her steroids to stop the vomiting, does this mean she will always have the pancreatitis? Or is this a one time thing? I know not to let her eat anything but her dog food diet but I am still worried... Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn I did with my first and second pregnancies. Nausea and vomiting constantly up until birth. Had to be hospitalized several times for dehydration and even went into early labor because of it. There are some things to try to help, like nausea suckered. For me, there was no relief. Nothing I tried helped.
Avatar n tn Did the vet perform a CPLI test to see if your dog had pancreatitis? The causes of vomiting and diarrhea can be many things, such ingestion of a foreign body, ingestion of something toxic, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, parasites, organic causes and more.
Avatar n tn He even ate tons of grass and threw all of it up. After about two three days he finally stopped and got a lot better except he seemed to lost his voice. He couldnt bark or "speak" at all for over a week. It seems like he is starting to get his voice back but he just all of a sudden got really week. He cant eat and has veryyy little energy. Normally he's always excited to go for a walk and runs to the door when its time to go.
Avatar n tn I took her to our vet and they did blood work and x-ray. The blood work showed acute pancreatitis. She was given IV fluids, Reglan for the vomiting, a B12 shot and an antibiotic and was not allowed anything to eat or drink for 24 hours other than licking on ice cubes every few hours. By the next day she was all perky and playing. The next day I started her on the vet's low fat food that they carry. She did well until today when out of nowhere she developed diarrhea and vomiting.

Avatar n tn The other causes could be jaundice if there is yellowish discoloration of skin, food poisoning if the symptoms occurred shortly after taking food, peptic ulcer disease and sometimes cholecystitis and pancreatitis. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. In the meantime take oral fluids. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn About 3 months ago I started blacking out or falling unconscious or whatever you want to call it, along with bad migraines, abdominal pain, jaundice, extreme fatigue, and excessive amounts of vomiting. I'm not sure if the passing out and migraines are related to my stomach issues, but I was puking so much that I was hospitalized with dehydration and malnutrition, and my teeth turned yellow and the enamel has worn away.
Avatar f tn Other possibilities are hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, pancreatic inflammation or pancreatitis, foreign body ingestion, and others. Do seek professional help if the problem returns.
Avatar n tn In all probability the symptoms are due to alcoholic pancreatitis and hepatitis. It can also be food poisoning. Take an OTC lactobacillus preparation and yoghurt with your meals. Drink plenty of fluids. Eat light, do not stay hungry but eat simple things like toast, porridge, cereals, crackers, banana, rice, peeled apple, etc. Take ORS. Take over the counter antacid and antiemetic (this SOS for vomiting). Consult a doctor immediately. Take care!
Avatar f tn I also experenced vomiting, dibilitating upper abdominal pain, high levels of amalase and lipase levels but had a normal looking pancreas. has anyone else had this happen?
Avatar n tn My dog has little to no appetite and has been vomiting yellow bile. Should I wait it out or have him seen?
Avatar f tn hi and welcome. I'm glad all the tests results are looking good, with senior pets diet is a huge concern, their stomachs just aren't able to tolerate the same as when they were younger(just as with people). I am wondering what your boy eats? Its very important at this stage to feed a wet canned diet especially when there are signs of dehydration. dry food only has 12% water while cans have 78%...
Avatar m tn Three days later he was back to vomiting and not eating and we were back at the vet- this time she told us it could be pancreatitis or an obstruction. We treated for pancreatitis (fluids/steroids/antibiotic). Again, better for three days, then back to vomiting and not eating. Went back a few days later for more of the same. Doctor says x-rays might show an obstruction- might not- and that would mean surgery- which we can't afford.
Avatar m tn I have also been having problems for the past six months with my stomach as well. I have been vomiting and am nauseous all the time. I had a colonoscopy and a CT scan but everything came back normal. The upper left side abdominal pain is just recent and I am worried that something is wrong. If anyone could help me that would be amazing thank you.
Avatar m tn m really sorry to hear your dog has pancreas trouble. There can be various underlying causes for pancreatitis and since your dog seemed to respond to antibiotics, it's possible his pancreas is infected. That may be due to a structural problem either within the pancreas itself or further down in the pancreatic duct. If imaging studies have not been done, it's time to take a look to see if there is a tumor or psuedo-cyst (pocket of infection) present.
Avatar m tn He seemed to be recovering well until December of last year when he was admitted to hospital. He complained of abdominal pain and every time he ate, he started vomiting. He is still in hospital now. An ecography was carried out and the eco showed some nodules in the liver. The doctor is not sure whether it is cancerous or not. He suggests to do a biopsy to find out. My questions are as follows: Could a wrong sample have been taken for the biopsy at the head of the pancreas?

Avatar f tn It starts with mild pains and spasms in my middle abdomen and then becomes more and more severe as the evening progresses resulting in severe nausea and vomiting and spasms that feel like contractions every 5 or 10 minutes. When the spasms occur, I become extremely nauseated. They last about 30 seconds and then subside and then return. This usually lasts about 12 hours and I am extremely sick the entire time. The pain radiates into my back when th spasm starts.
Avatar f tn Since I gave birth to my first child 4 1/2 months ago via c-section I have had epsiodes of vomiting and diarrhea.Several years ago I had the same problem but everything went aways once my gallbladder was removed. The episodes of vomiting and diarrhea last anywhere from hours to 2 days. I have recorded what I am eating to see if it is a food allergy but only thing i have found in the past week is butter makes me sick but not other dairy products.
Avatar n tn With each of these attacks, I would start vomiting and would be vomiting bile. After a few hospitalizations for this, I then developed chronic pancreatitis. These attacks can differ from a full blown attack. I call them my "mini attacks". It starts with a pressure in the epigastric region that goes through to my back. I start to feel very ill and then the pain comes, again, going through to my back.
Avatar n tn What causes vomiting light green bile, stomach and back pain, having no fever? ER doctors don't seem to know. CT scans and x-rays are unremarkable.
