pancreatitis

Avatar f tn Hello Everyone, My Wiz had a dental/extraction and ultrasound today. The us showed significant kidney changes… as well as an enlarged or hardened pancreatic node I think. We are putting him on a bp med and maybe some chinese herbs eventually. One of his kidney values was very mildly elevated so I wanted to do the ultrasound and he has had vomiting on and off… it seemed to be hairball related, I treated that and it seems to help and sometimes food related.
Avatar n tn Have you considered actute pancreatitis or chrnic pancreatitis? Look up their symptoms and if you think that is what you have then the first thing to do is to ask your doctor for blood work and an ultrasound.
Avatar m tn I went on a liquid diet after seeing the Dr. and was found to have a urinary tract infection, and what they thought to be pancreas problems. The pain decreased and I went home. A day or two later my stomach began to hurt and every time I would eat it would go away until I laid down or about an hour or two after eating. Then gurgling would start in my stomach and work its way down, its painful and very sensitive.
Avatar f tn He is a very sensitive, nervous cat. His labs indicate that he does not have pancreatitis, and overall his lab work looks good. He had a full senior work up, as well as urinanalysis and the test for the pancreatitis (negative). He has been dehydrated, not eating well, nauseated and vomiting. Is the next step to do an ultrasound?
Avatar n tn oh i forgot to mention that he is eating still but i have no idea whether or not he is drinking or using the bathroom!!! and my other cat [female, age 4] definitely notices somethings different because she sits in front of him alot and seems concerned about him!!!!!
Avatar f tn He needs to visit an E.R and sort this out immediately. It could be serious. From urinary system infection to pancreatitis. It could be something simple or something very serious.
Avatar n tn Trouble was I had a really bad Nicorette habit. Low and behold I have chronic pancreatitis and if I chew the gum--the pancreatic pain skyrockets. I would say "YES" Nicorette either causes, triggers, or aggrevates pancreatitis.
Avatar n tn Please take your cat to the vet ASAP. A distended abdomen could signify many things, such as a urinary blockage, pancreatitis, Gastrointestinal foreign body or more. These can be medical emergencies, and are also quite painful. Cats who are anorexic and who don't eat for ANY reason can develop hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease) which can be life threatening on it's own.
Avatar m tn the A and E (Accident and Emergency- like the ER) Department did tests and said it was possibly a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). The doctor then gave her 3 tablets of Trimethoprim (one for each day) and was told to go to her local GP, but not necessary. On the way home, she vomited, this vomited was a dark brown colored with a very strong sulphur smell. That night and early morning she did not vomit again.
Avatar f tn im now being directed to take a gastric emptying study which i already have had done a year ago and those results were normal..my question is...is here a link between pancreatitis and bile reflux? and if so, would it not be indicative of an obstruction (due to the minor dilation) of my pancreatic duct....is there any remedies or speculation around these test results?
Avatar n tn I had hyperparathyroidism and it was my understanding that was separate from my thyroid issue. I'm not sure that is clinically correct though. Hope you get more answers.
Avatar m tn Now its been basically non-stop, confirmed by mri, that it is chronic pancreatitis, and fatty liver. Im being sent to a pain specialist for the pain, and hoping he can offer relief, because Ive been recieving very little help from my doctor with that. Im 5'5", used to be about 138lbs, and now am 162, with gain of 10lbs a month on a low fat diet, no meat, no bread, soft food. I dont understand except unless wieght gain is from thyroid going wrong, im hypothyroid.
Avatar f tn We rushed him to the ER where they diagnosed him with food bloat. Within 2 days he developed pancreatitis and started to show significant signs of improvement (more energy, more appetite, drinking water, no more swelling, not tender, etc). They allowed us to treat him at home as long as he was eating and drinking and getting better every day, which he had been. We brought him back to the vet twice for extra fluids.
Avatar f tn constipation irritable bowel syndrome, gas and diverticulitis can cause pain in the intestines. A urinary tract infection or kidney stone may cause lower abdominal pain. Heart disease can cause pain in the abdomen, as can pneumonia, pancreatitis or an ulcer. Ovulation, menstruation, pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy can cause pain.
Avatar n tn If the pain is in the left lumbar region (see the quadrants of abdomen—a google image should get you this), then this could be due to stomach issues (like acidity), it may be due to pancreatitis, or spleen issues or kidney stones or kidney infection or due to urinary infection or colitis. An ultrasound of the abdomen followed by urine and stool examination may help clinch the diagnosis. You may need additional tests like CT scan of abdomen, serum amylase, lipase etc.
Avatar n tn The other causes for pain could be urinary tract infection, renal colic and sometimes bowel infections. It could also be due to diverticulitis, Chron's disease, ulcerative colitis and parasitic infections. If your CT scan did not reveal anything you may have to go for blood tests and urine analysis. Discuss these options with your consulting doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar n tn t really given much say in the matter, as the pancreatitis was a nasty attack and I was strongly advised to get my gallbladder out asap after it. It was a straightforward procedure, with no after effects. I can't really say I felt better, because apart from the pancreatitis incident, I never had any problems beforehand! I do sometimes suffer with the "dumping syndrome" which, whilst unpleasant, doesn't worry me too much as I believe it's normal.
Avatar f tn t seem to care about the Pneumobilia and one Dr seemed to think its normal and I might have it forever, but I am concerned especially about possible infection coming from the small bowel into the Biliary hepatic vessels and also can this air be causing the ongoing Pancreatitis?
Avatar m tn been suffering from pancreatitis and doctors thinking my gallbladder may be messed up....How common is it to have had a normal HIDA scan with no apparent stones?
Avatar n tn strong-smelling, murky, or bloody urine; and in women, pain during intercourse is due to urinary tract infection. Pain in the lower abdomen. You may also have blood or mucus in your stools, fever, unexplained weight loss, skin rashes, tiredness, or joint pain.-- Crohn's disease (pain in the right side) or ulcerative colitis (with pain in the left side). Pain or tenderness in the lower left side of the abdomen, along with fever.
Avatar m tn or it could be pancreatitis.. if you've been drinking or hitting NSAD's really hard lately..the pain is pretty high with pancreatitis and you'd be doubled over..but not always. A blood test for pancreatitis can be used if you've been drinking a lot.. either way with an ulcer i'd avoid alchohol/tylenol/asprin like the plague. That'll kill your stomach.
Avatar n tn Yesterday I woke up to my dog having diarrhea all over the house all day, later in the day she wanted to go hide and not come out. She smells so bad and to top it off she had some paralysis. Today she is doing fine running around eating and drinking but now she is leaving blood on the floor any suggestions?
