Pancreatitis and odor

Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis and odor

Avatar n tn I was a longtime sufferer of pancreatitis and have diabetes. You have to try and normalize your system. Cut out all processed/highly refined foods, do juicing, and small consistent meals. Make your husband quit makes the pancreas work too hard. Since his is chronic, its all about maintenance, and allowing the body to do some healing as well! If you want I can send you a plan I used which saved my life, and kept me functional. The doctors will just give you meds to ease pain....
Avatar n tn My dog had acute pancreatitis over the weekend and I took him to an emergency vet on Sunday and to his vet on Mon. They both kept him overnight, IV, blood work, meds, and his vet did a rectal x-ray and abdominal x-ray with barium to look for obstruction. He found dirt/sand. My dog ate cat poop covered in dirt. He is at home now doing fine and I have him on a bland diet of canned white chicken and brown rice only. However, his lower abd/belly is a little distended and hard.

Avatar n tn There are many listervs with migraine sufferers and epileptics mourning hair loss and topomax---and their neurologists' denial of the relationship. I located a PDR, and it does list alopecia as a "less common side effect". I decided to pursue expert neurologists at a research university 3 hours away from me for help---and a medication switch. They denied my hair loss could be due to the topomax, flatly, and recommended I use Head and Shoulders.
Avatar n tn I'm curious. I've seen alot of people using celexa complain of fatigue and weight gain which can be typical of some SSRIs. I've noticed that several people have had a drop in T4 while on celexa (TSH/T4 checked prior to initiating antidepressant therapy). Is there any literature out there on this? Can you offer some enlightenment? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I have a male golden retriever, he is 11 years old and I'm extremely worried. My dog hasn't been eating properly for the past few weeks, he refuses to eat his normal food so we've been cooking him rice/eggs/meat/liver etc. Then after a while he doesn't eat himself unless we feed him by hands..and now he doesn't eat at all. Though he does eat some type of snacks. Now, he doesn't seem to have the energy to get up. He would try to get up but his legs seems to be weak or something.
Avatar n tn I have since had several dilatations of the common bile duct, frequent attacks of Pancreatitis and am still experiencing the same symptoms and pain as I originally had!I now suffer from Chronic Pancreatitis (and I mean suffer!) I take several narcotics for pain, Sandustatin inj. for Pancreatic spasms, and enzymes. However, I was told by my Specialist that there is nothing else that can be done.I am very frustrated! I do not intend to live the rest of my life like this!
Avatar m tn I took him to my Vet who told me initially he has Pancreatitis. The next day his liver enzymes elevated and he started getting jaundice. Today is March 17, 2013 and is still Jaundice, sclera is yellow, his breath has a bile odor, and his urine is dark orange in color. He stayed at the Vets office for 2 nights on Amoxicillin and Intravenous therapy. He still likes to take his walks and ride in the car. He wants to eat and sometimes still begs for food, but picks at food.
Avatar n tn The reason why I am so concerned is because I have abdominal pain under my right rib cage, dark urine that has a bad odor to it. I also have severe aches and pains throughout my body. I was taken to my local ER because I had severe abdominal pain and the doctor said my Pancreas enzymes were high. I have an appointment with a Gastro doctor the 12th of this month. Can hep b and c take longer for the anti bodies to show up in 6 months> meaning can it take an additional 3 months?
Avatar f tn i'm going 2 hypothesize here that his liver and pancreas are near exhaustion and that he is causing toxicity/poisoning in his system....hence the smell!
Avatar n tn I am a 27 year old Canadian woman who has been living and working in Japan for the last 2 1/2 years. For the last year and a half I've been having a lot of problems with gastritis and reflux and I can't seem to get rid of them. I first noticed the symptoms last year when I felt a terrible burning in my stomach and had a lot of belching and heartburn after I ate. I had an upper GI X-ray done and there wasn't anything wrong except for excess acid production.
Avatar n tn However, there is validity to the premise that pain will actually keep you alive longer, and it's always an ongoing challenge to find the balance of pain and/or anxiety control. Remember, too, that acute co-morbid events, ie: coronary, pulmonary or spontaneous bleeding and clotting can occur at any time and hasten death Additionally, it is not uncommon for liver failure patients to wax and wane in terms of their mentation, confusion and overall state.
Avatar n tn I think everything is over and I clean up. I walk out of the toilet and in about 2 minutes time the stomach cramp and the fainting sensation comes back (I've fainted only once to date from this and was out for about 15-20 minutes). 6. When I get back to the toilet I have a really violent Diarrhoea episode in pure liquid state.
Avatar n tn but I do not eat a lot of fat! Plus, I'm a vegetarian, and have been for 5 years. And when I do have to pass gas, it smells like sulfur (usually no matter what I eat!). This is new, too-- I've never had an odor before. There is also a "burning" sensation when it passes. It's like my stomach is struggling to pass even the simplest things, like english muffins. I'm at a loss. I am going to set up a meeting with a local Gastroenterologist, but I wanted to see what others thought.
Avatar n tn I have symptoms of ruq pain, just right of the sternum, tender to the touch, and often loose stools w/odor. I have also had a weight loss of ten pounds. An ultrasound test was completely normal as was an hida at 35. My doctor has me taking ursodiol for the last month and a half. My symptoms continue to worsen. I have gone to an almost fat free diet this last week.
Avatar m tn But as for a problem just with the pancreas, there are about a dozen reasons for pancreatitis, and so the cause must be found and treated, in addition to treatment for the inflammation going on in the pancreas. Assuming you have pancreatitis, the very first thing a doc would do is put you in the hospital and give you I.V. fluids and then you cannot eat and drink for two days. Since you cannot drink for two days, that's how come you need I.V. fluids.
Avatar f tn At times it is so bad I do not know if I will make it to the bathroom in time. There is presure all day to go to the bathroom and when I do go right before the end I will get a strong presure feeling. The color is either almost clear to a very light color yellow. There is no odor to it. I am not sure what is going on. In addition I just noticed tonight that my back is hurting right under my right rib cage on the side towards the back. I am not sure if this has anything to do with it though.
Avatar m tn I have had a history of digestive problems for years, mostly with loose stool, gas, acid re-flux and constant nausea. I was recently diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis, and I have changed my diet dramatically. I no longer eat fatty, spicy or acidic foods, and I have cut alcohol and caffeine out of my diet completely. My current diet is now oatmeal for breakfast. Raisins, a turkey on wheat sandwich (no other toppings) and a pudding for lunch.
Avatar m tn We called the vet and they gave her fluids and a shot for nausea hoping that she would get better and she thought maybe our dog had gotten a bit of pancreatitis from thanksgiving. Grandkids feeding her! Well she didn't stop throwing up even though she has spent the last night in the hospital. They gave her fluids and nausea shots and all blood tests came back normal. The vet says she has an enlarged liver.
Avatar n tn I have been dealing with a bad body odor for two years now and edema which I never had before but the docotr says they are 2 seperate issues. She said my edema is related to my weight gain and the body odor is related to a GI tract issue and told me to start probiodics. I was just wondering if you don't mind what your symptoms were to determine it was a GI issue. Thanks in advance for any possible info you could give me.
Avatar n tn Other causes will have to be looked into such as intestinal infection, celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, short bowel syndrome, malabsorption syndromes, chronic pancreatitis or hepatitis and cystic fibrosis. You will need to consult a gastroenterologist then. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar m tn I saw a doctor in June of 2010... ultrasound and x-rays were normal, but liver enzymes were slightly raised, and, of course, was told to stop or at least ease up on drinking alcohol. I would normally drink a few beers after work and weekends much more. I cut back on drinking for several months(still having pains coming and going), but recently a best friend passed away and I drank heavily for few weeks after. Then I stopped for a few days then one night had several beers again.

Avatar n tn Are her stools bulky and fatty/greasy in any manner? Has the odor changed? If so you might want to consider pancreatitis problems. Have they checked both her liver enzymes and pancreatic enzymes?
Avatar m tn I've had a 3 week history of vague abdominal pain with some stool irregularities (namely, foul odor and soft texture). All blood tests (CBC, CMP, pancreatic enzymes, CRP, ESED, LDH) have been normal. Abdominal ultrasound was normal. I had an MR Enterography a few days ago. The impression was that there was an "Apparent 8mm polypoid lesion in the right wall of the duodenal bulb. Otherwise, normal MR Enterography." No other abnormalities were noted.
