I was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and gastroparesis, which was diagnosed by multiple CT scans and an endoscopy. My amylase and lipase values were also elevated. I am taking Reglan 3x a day before meals to help with the gastroparesis. The problem is that I'm still having pain, almost on a daily basis. My bad days certainly outweigh my good ones. Certain days I'm nauseous and can barely eat. Plus I have days of diarrhea, where I can barely hold anything in my stomach.
10 years ago I started with severe abdominal pain diagnosed pancreatitis with amylase levels over 500. I have had my amylase fractionated and it is coming from my pancrease (not salivary or ovarian). Severe acute attacks intermittently managed with pain medication and diet (good days and bad days type of thing) for 5 years before I finally had a CCK HIDA with an ejection fraction of 7%.
Trouble was I had a really bad Nicorette habit. Low and behold I have chronic pancreatitis and if I chew the gum--the pancreatic pain skyrockets. I would say "YES" Nicorette either causes, triggers, or aggrevates pancreatitis.
im now being directed to take a gastric emptying study which i already have had done a year ago and those results were normal..my question is...is here a link between pancreatitis and bile reflux? and if so, would it not be indicative of an obstruction (due to the minor dilation) of my pancreatic duct....is there any remedies or speculation around these test results?
I had hyperparathyroidism and it was my understanding that was separate from my thyroid issue. I'm not sure that is clinically correct though.

Now its been basically non-stop, confirmed by mri, that it is chronic pancreatitis, and fatty liver. Im being sent to a pain specialist for the pain, and hoping he can offer relief, because Ive been recieving very little help from my doctor with that. Im 5'5", used to be about 138lbs, and now am 162, with gain of 10lbs a month on a low fat diet, no meat, no bread, soft food. I dont understand except unless wieght gain is from thyroid going wrong, im hypothyroid.

t really given much say in the matter, as the pancreatitis was a nasty attack and I was strongly advised to get my gallbladder out asap after it. It was a straightforward procedure, with no after effects. I can't really say I felt better, because apart from the pancreatitis incident, I never had any problems beforehand! I do sometimes suffer with the "dumping syndrome" which, whilst unpleasant, doesn't worry me too much as I believe it's normal.
t seem to care about the Pneumobilia and one Dr seemed to think its normal and I might have it forever, but I am concerned especially about possible infection coming from the small bowel into the Biliary hepatic vessels and also can this air be causing the ongoing Pancreatitis?

or it could be pancreatitis.. if you've been drinking or hitting NSAD's really hard lately..the pain is pretty high with pancreatitis and you'd be doubled over..but not always. A blood test for pancreatitis can be used if you've been drinking a lot.. either way with an ulcer i'd avoid alchohol/tylenol/asprin like the plague. That'll kill your stomach.
You might have pancreatitis. That could cause all 3 symptoms, and the elevated enzymes. Other causes of your symptoms would not likely do that.
Make sure your doctor checks you thoroughly for pancreatitis.
Well I/we know she has a drinking problem, she has started drinking again. She said she researched and drinking Red Wine does not hurt her Pancreatitis. In my feeble attempts of research I have not found anything that supports her thought process. What scares me is she was in a Coma for about 5 weeks and came real close to death for the first week or so, the doctors didn't think she was going to live.
I am a 60 year old female who was diagnosed in the late 80s with acute pancreatitis and still have sporadic trouble today in 2014. A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with hcv and was wondering what effects I would have with the two diseases together, for instance if given treatment for my hep-c will it make my pancreas worse or will I even be able to do the hcv treatment at all?
During a recent trip to Mexico, I came down with 'travelers diarrhea' - fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomitting, dehydration. Upon arriving back in the states, I was readmitted to the hospital due to elevated amylase and lipase. I didn't have the severe pancreatitis pain until later that night and then only one other bout two nights later. A CT scan, ERCP, and internal ultrasound were all normal and I was discharged after 5 days.

I have pancreatitis. Have had 8 weeks of extreme pain. Pain has now subsided. CT and Ultrasound keep showing mild pancreatitis. A cause cannot be found as i have no gallstones and i dont drink alcohol. I have seen a specialist, who sent me home with pain meds. I now have diarhea, for the past month. Sometimes it is oily. Stool sample shows nothing. Blood work shows slight rise in A + L levels. Nothing to be worried about. I have lost 14kgs in 2.5 months. Most of which was lost in the last month.
I am 30 and was diagnosed with chronic/ acute recurrent pancreatitis about 4 and a half years ago. The doctors believe mine is related to CF, because I also have some lung issues. I was put on a morphine pain pump 2+ years ago. After MANY discussions with my doctors: Pain, GI, Pulmonary and High risk OB, the doctors still were not sure...they said they had never dealt with a pregnancy with someone this severe, but that I could try it and we would find out. I am now 5 months pregnant.
In November 2008 I went into the hospital with pancreatitis. I knew nothing about pancreatitis before that day but that day changed my life forever. I went into the emergency room 3 times before they finally figured out what was wrong and admitted me. Once they realized the severity of my condition they said if I had waited even 24 before getting treatment I could have died. I was there for 10 days. I spent my 30th Birthday and Thanksgiving in that hospital.
Since all your lab works and imaging studies are otherwise normal and you never had any bout of pancreatitis before, a wait and watch policy is likely to be the best course of action for you. Also, the risk of surgery to pancreas is high, so since the side branch lesions are usually harmless, a wait and watch policy is adopted for most lesions less than 3 cm which do not cause dilatation of the main pancreatic duct nor have a solid mass or nodule within them.
