Avatar n tn I have orthostatic hypotension. I take Florinef and midodrine. I see a neurologist. I am wondering if this is actually MSA=Shy Drager type. My gait is wobbly, I have a hard time swallowing sometimes. I have over 100 stitches in my head from constantly falling (fainting). I am also in stage 4 renal failure with the diagnose of IgA Nephropathy. Creatinine level is 3.4 currently. My neurologist says it is multisystem atrophy. Should I get another opinion on this MSA?
Avatar f tn Is this type 1 we are talking about or type 2? I've recently learned a little about syncope and hypotension as my son has been getting dizzy. This past weekend, I heard some strange talking and a huge bang. My son had gotten up to carry a plate to the sink and had gotten dizzy and fell. He had a huge welt on his cheek bone (black eye still forming as we speak) from hitting the edge of the counter when he fell.

Avatar n tn There are many listervs with migraine sufferers and epileptics mourning hair loss and topomax---and their neurologists' denial of the relationship. I located a PDR, and it does list alopecia as a "less common side effect". I decided to pursue expert neurologists at a research university 3 hours away from me for help---and a medication switch. They denied my hair loss could be due to the topomax, flatly, and recommended I use Head and Shoulders.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed in 2000 with MS, and for years I have been getting IV Solu-medrol treatments every other month, for three days. Is it possible this affects my menstrual cycle? Can Solu-medrol cause not building up the endometrium? Don't worry, I have had all tests: blood, bone density, ultrasound, pregnancy, and I am very healthy: un-pregnant, taking birth control, and so on. I "only" have MS. My period doesn't happen and I am way too young for menopause.
Avatar n tn This did wonders for the withdraw feelings, but the anxiety is over-whelming. I was burning out my skin, shaking, fearful thoughts and feelings raced, and a buzzed feeling has taken over my body. My question to you is, do you think that this anxiety will pass after a couple of weeks or do you think perhaps 20mg is too much for my anxiety? How long of a chance do you give it? You advice has been right on thus far, hope you can help me through the end.

Avatar n tn CIDP can affect the autonomic nervous system and cause cardiac arrhythmias, gastrointestinal disturbances, abnormal sweating, orthostatic hypotension, etc. Cranial nerves are also often affected and can cause facial, jaw pain spasm, paresthesias, etc. GBS typically follows the infection fairly promptly and resolves over a few months. CIDP is persistent, but tends to have a relapsing-remitting (up and down) course. The spinal tap usually shows elevated protein levels.
Avatar f tn The doctors are saying his blood pressure is too low, but they can't figure out what's going on with him. They have ran many tests and still don't know what's causing it. Right now they are telling him there is nothing they can do for him, because they just don't know what's going on with him. The young man says he can't stand up no longer than five minutes and his pressure drops back down to 50/60. The highest that it can reach now is 80/60.
Avatar n tn However, there is validity to the premise that pain will actually keep you alive longer, and it's always an ongoing challenge to find the balance of pain and/or anxiety control. Remember, too, that acute co-morbid events, ie: coronary, pulmonary or spontaneous bleeding and clotting can occur at any time and hasten death Additionally, it is not uncommon for liver failure patients to wax and wane in terms of their mentation, confusion and overall state.

Avatar f tn She is a rescue dog, so I am unsure of her age. Likely, she is between 11 and 12. at this time, we had a mass that developed very quickly, removed from her toe, which ended up being a toe amputation due to getting margins to close it. It was then that we found the kidney function was abnormal in her pre-op bloodwork. Her bloodwork had been checked 10 months before in a senior screen, where it was in the upper level of normal. The mass turned out to be benign.

Avatar f tn I am sorry that I know little about pancreatitis as I have Crohn's. However, I did meet through the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America website, a young woman in San Francisco 4 years ago and we corresponded privately, at least weekly. She had been recently diagnosed then with Crohn's but unfortunately went on to get a malignant pancreatic tumour and sadly died this past Feb at 39 yrs old.
