I have been diagnosed now with Pancreatitis and it is painful, Lortab and ofcourse the morphine helped the pain. I am new to this site and hit the wrong area accidentally, i am in the Gastro forum now..

Now its been basically non-stop, confirmed by mri, that it is chronic pancreatitis, and fatty liver. Im being sent to a pain specialist for the pain, and hoping he can offer relief, because Ive been recieving very little help from my doctor with that. Im 5'5", used to be about 138lbs, and now am 162, with gain of 10lbs a month on a low fat diet, no meat, no bread, soft food. I dont understand except unless wieght gain is from thyroid going wrong, im hypothyroid.

Hi Tony! I've been voraciously reading your group's postings/answers. My dog was perfectly fine with SLIGHT high BUN (35-38). I put her on the NF diet in an effort to keep the kidney disease at bay, and suddenly her pancreatitis went crazy! She got very ill and didn't want to eat. I tried to put her back on her old food to get her back to normal, but it was too late. She's been hospitalized for four days. Her BUN/Creat "stabilized" at 116/6.7.

I think it's best to avoid garlic. Garlic and onions are very similar, and onions are a definite no for dogs. Some people do give dogs garlic, and the dogs seem to be ok, but I always think it's best to avoid it. As I said, dogs' sense of taste and smell is something like a hundred times more powerful than ours, so they get the taste of their food very well, and don't need any added seasonings.

Hello Everyone, My Wiz had a dental/extraction and ultrasound today. The us showed significant kidney changes… as well as an enlarged or hardened pancreatic node I think. We are putting him on a bp med and maybe some chinese herbs eventually. One of his kidney values was very mildly elevated so I wanted to do the ultrasound and he has had vomiting on and off… it seemed to be hairball related, I treated that and it seems to help and sometimes food related.

Have they explained the cause of the pancreatitis? It is a painful and scary condition, and I think outcome has a lot to do with the cause, but I'm sure it's very hard to watch somebody go through this. I hope she gets relief soon. I think the doctors treating her are the best ones to ask these questions of. I hope they make themselves available to you.

Does the duct dilatation set off an inflamation of the liver and pancreas and cause the pancreatitis pain? Also can the duct dilatation heal on its own in time? I have no desire to undergo an ERCP as I've heard such nightmare stories from people who have undergone but yet I'm so tired of not feeling good and having pain and just would like to feel good again. Hi there, I had pancreatitis 8 years ago, was the worst pain ive ever had, could barely swallow saliva never mind eat or drink anything went from 11 stone down 7 stone, but after 3 months i got better, only thing is im now 31 like going out and drinking and every now and then my amylase levels rise, and im also a glutten for spicy food and faty foods, i know recipe for disaster, but even when i had full blown pancreatitis my levels where no where near the hights urs has risen, worst mine got to

Ajeet, you should take the MRCP test. Talk to your doctor about the exact diagnosis and what you should be doing with diet and the enzymes. And if you haven't had the MRCP test yet, it sounds like they haven't finished testing for what the cause is and they may not have a diagnosis at this time. Without that, it's hard to make any suggestions. For now, ask your doctor to tell you the foods you should and shouldn't eat, and take the enzymes.

Doctors have already removed my reproductive organs, gall bladder, appendix, several sections of intestine, my omentum and 1/3 of the large colon. I am weary from the pain, sweating, fever and chills, and want to do whatever I can do to prevent pancreatitis from happening again. Does anyone have a solution?

I have looked up information on this med and it states that 1 out of 20 patients could develop liver damage. I was diagnosed with Pancreatitis on 10/14/08. I had never had it in my life. I have chronic pancreatitis and this disease is very hard to diagnose and be diagnosable with! The thing that is hard with it is, which you have experienced, your scans can look normal and blood tests also and you still have pain,nausea, fatigue and the whole pancreatitis everything! The ER will not do anything about this because nothing is showing up on any of your tests and according to the its not an "emergency" so get to a GI fast!

I have a 15 mo old chihuahua/rat terrier mix who has been diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. She is also overweight which i know can worsen the condition and I've been exercising her more. But what I'd like to know is there a diet that is best for her with her condition? I'm not convinced that the prescription diet she's on is the best and she doesn't like the taste so is not eating well.

I was diagnosed in 2001 with Pancreatitis. Dr. did a couple of scopes (endo & gastro) I was put on 3 different meds. Domparadone, Buscopan, Rapabrazole (excuse the spelling, its very late) Also on a clear liquid diet for 2 months. Lost a lot of weight during this. Thought the problem was fixed. Then one day, BAM its back. Is there a cure, or is this another disease I just am going to have to "live" with? Any help is greatly appreciated.
