Hi there. :) I also have a retroverted uterus and it's painful when I have sex..not like a god awful pain(although there's "good" pain and bad pain), but it hurts during certain positions. Sorry to be so blunt but "doggie style" especially is more painful than the others. Some women may not experience pain, but I also have endometriosis and I also get ovarian cysts alot.

) Talk to your doctor about surgical options or ask him to refer you to another doctor. The retroverted part is not that big a deal, elevate your hips after sex and the sperm should find a way in.

I have one myself, meaning it tilts towards my spine instead of titlting forward. While it generally doesn't cause problems with conception etc I know it certainly causes a lot of discomfort for me during sex at times.

I conceived about 5 weeks ago and about 5 days after conception right up until now, I have a horrible rectal pressure pain with just sitting, worsened with intercourse ... definitely not hemorrhoids.. feels like a semi is trying to drive out my butt.. pleasant huh??
What is a retroverted uterus?
A retroverted uterus, also known as a tipped or tilted uterus, is a uterus that tilts back toward the rectal area. In most women the uterus will tilt slightly forward toward the belly. Actually, having a retroverted uterus is quite common. Reports vary but approximately 20% to 40% of all women have a retroverted uterus. Because this is so common, doctors rarely mention if you have a tilted uterus unless you ask.
Sometimes a retroverted uterus can get stuck in the pelvic cavity in early pregnancy resulting in what is called an incarcerated uterus. If so, a procedure can be performed to reposition it. Common sign of incarcerated uterus is inability for mom to urinate. As far as ultrasound is concerned, yes, it can be more difficult to evaluate the fetus in the 1st trimester. Most women have an anteverted uterus. Retroverted is just a normal variant.

That will determine if you suffer from things like Pelvic Inflammatory Disease or even a Retroverted Uterus - both of these can cause pain when having sex. Because you know it's most likely going to hurt (like you said), you tense up anticipating the pain - which only makes it more painful.
